Context Trivia / MikeAndMolly

Go To

* TheCastShowoff: Creator/KatyMixon has a beautiful singing voice and puts it to good use often.
* DawsonCasting: Creator/CleoKing is only seven years older than Reno Wilson, despite being hired to play his ''grandmother.''
* DistancedFromCurrentEvents: The season three finale "Windy City" was originally planned to air on May 20, 2013, but was quickly pulled due to its plot of Chicago in the path of a tornado; and ''just that day'', Moore, Oklahoma and adjacent areas were devastated by an [=EF5=] tornado. The episode eventually aired on May 30.
* ExecutiveMeddling:
** The show did undergo a shift in focus when showrunners changed. It became much more slapstick oriented and rather than an ensemble, seemed to become The Molly Show... It seems to have shifted back somewhat to focus a bit more on the ensemble again rather than just Molly hijinks recently, though.
** The final shift in the last season away from the Molly slapstick hijinks back toward what the show had been before was a conscience effort on the part of the showrunner, who acknowledged that the change had gone over poorly with the audience and contributed to a decline in ratings. The final season was much better received as a result.
* FakeNationality: Samuel, a Senegalese immigrant, is played by Creator/NyambiNyambi, who is a Nigerian-American.
* RealSongThemeTune: "I See Love" by Keb' Mo'.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Despite being a moderate success in the ratings (not as big as Creator/ChuckLorre's ''Series/TheBigBangTheory'' or ''Series/TwoAndAHalfMen'', but still steady), CBS pulled the plug with a shortened sixth season and never even told the cast. Creator/MelissaMcCarthy found out about it through a statement co-star Rondi Reed made to the press.
* SeparatedAtBirthCasting: Creator/MelissaMcCarthy and Creator/KatyMixon really do look like they could be sisters.
* StarMakingRole: Was this along with ''Film/{{Bridesmaids}}'' for Creator/MelissaMcCarthy.
