Context Trivia / LegoRacers

* {{Defictionalization}}: Originally, Rocket Racer was a ToylessToylineCharacter who appeared exclusively in the ''LEGO Racers'' video games. The ''Toys/LEGOMinifigures'' Race Car Guy, released nearly two decades later in 2018, was [[WordOfGod confirmed in an interview with minifigure designer Austin William Carlson]] to be a redesign of Rocket Racer, although it was left ambiguous (given Series 18's "costume party" theme) whether the character was actually Rocket himself. Rocket Racer finally makes his unambiguous debut as a physical minifigure in 2021's ''Toys/LEGOCity'' "Stuntz" subtheme, which more closely matches his original design while using the brighter color palette of his ''LEGO Racers 2'' design.
* DummiedOut:
** The Knightmare-Athon and Pirate Skull Pass short-cuts were removed completely, but hacks of the map data show there are still power-ups intact from where they used to be. Heck in the [=PS1=] version the unreachable red brick above the castle for the first Knightmare-Athon shortcut can actually be easily seen while racing due to the castle lacking towers on its roof. While on the PC and N64 the brick is hidden behind the tower so you have to drive out of your way and into the right spot in order to see the unreachable brick.
** Most players will know Veronica Voltage only as the ghost from the Race against the clock mode. However, a physical form of her car was programmed and can be implemented with a few modifications. Unlike most boss-racers, she does not have a special AI, and is programmed to behave in a way most similar to Governor Broadside or the Islander.
* FollowTheLeader:
** The first ''LEGO Racers'' game is quite similar to ''VideoGame/DiddyKongRacing's'' gameplay engine, and even the power-ups. But besides that, it's unique with courses, characters, and a build option.
** Many of the PowerUp abilities in ''LEGO Racers 2'' closely mirror those of ''Videogame/MarioKart''. This is most blatant with the ninja Power-Up, which turns your car invisible (preventing the homing missile from homing in on you) and gives you the ability to steal other players' Power-Ups, just like the Boo Power-Up from the ''Mario Kart'' series![[note]]Unlike the Boo Power-Up, though, the ninja Power-Up does not disable collisions, and you actually have to physically collide with another player in order to steal their Power-Up.[[/note]]
* UrbanLegendOfZelda: The supposed "Truck Driver" cheat. Numerous cheat code websites would claim that if you make a character named "Truck Driver" and beat Rocket Racer with him, you'd unlock a super secret car. It's been confirmed false from numerous sources, and in fact doesn't even make sense because it doesn't follow the same syntax of the other cheats in the game (None of the real cheats have any vowels or spaces in them).
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The first game was originally going to have the mechanic of pieces falling off the car every time you crashed, something that wouldn't appear until the sequel.
** The second game would have featured Professor Ignatius Voltage from the ''LEGOLAND'' game as your guide, instead of Sparky. His textures can still be found in the game files, DummiedOut. Interestingly, Professor Voltage is the grandfather of Veronica Voltage from the first ''LEGO Racers'', which would have been an interesting CallBack if only he had appeared in the final product.
** [[http://www.rockraidersunited.com/topic/5916-contact-with-atd/?do=findComment&comment=106882 According to a Lego Racers 2 developer]], Frankie Solido and Baron Rosso (two background racers whose [[AllThereInTheScript names aren't even given in game and can only be found by looking into the game's files]]) were supposed to be bosses in Sandy Bay but were thrown haphazardly into the background due to poor communication with the designers. Captain Geoff, who only appears in the bonus minigame and the GBA version, was also supposed to be an NPC there.
