Context Trivia / Fury2014

* BilingualBonus: The driver's nickname is "Gordo". The direct Spanish translation is "Fatso".
* CaliforniaDoubling: The film's setting of Germany is filmed at England. This is because the Bovington Tank Museum was understandably reluctant to allow any of their priceless and irreplaceable vehicles to be shipped abroad.
* DawsonCasting: Creator/BradPitt was born in 1963, making him about 50 during filming. Possibly slightly older than the average combat soldier. At the same time, his obvious age and physical scars suggest that he's a WWI veteran, which was common enough among officers and [=NCOs=] at the time (such men were commonly called "re-treads" in the US Army). A DeletedScene explains why Wardaddy enlisted despite being old for it: [[spoiler:he's a convicted felon who enlisted for the war mostly because [[TradingBarsForStripes at his trial the judge encouraged him to die for his country instead of spending the rest of his life taking up space in prison]] and Wardaddy (who was in a DeathSeeker frame of mind because he'd accidentally gotten his little brother and wife killed), decided that was damn good advice.]]
* DeletedScene: About 50 minutes worth.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8dlRbX8aN8 One]] is an alternate pacing of the dialogue.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh2Q6DdEvwM One]] has Gordo explain to Norman the vulnerability of the Sherman tanks, and also shows the hatch [[spoiler: Norman uses to escape in the finale]].It also features Wardaddy telling Norman NOT to shoot without his clearance, which would've created a plot hole for the later event when [[spoiler: Lt. Parker's tank got hit]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9gBB816pEo Another]] explains the story behind [[spoiler: Wardaddy's back scars]]
* DyeingForYourArt: Not in the usual sense of hair dye in that Creator/ShiaLaBeouf actually ''cut his face, pulled out a tooth, and refused to bathe'' to get himself more into character. This backfired when he smelled so bad and behaved so oddly that he was kicked out of the cast accommodations.
* FakeAmerican: Englishman Creator/JasonIsaacs as a US Army Captain.
* HostilityOnTheSet:
** Creator/ScottEastwood nearly got into a fist-fight with Creator/BradPitt and Creator/ShiaLaBeouf by spitting tobacco on the tank (which was called for in the script) and arguing with the other two about his habits. Though when asked about this supposed incident, he denied that it happened.
** [=LaBeouf=]'s method acting didn't endear him to the cast and crew, particuarly his personal hygiene. It got to the point that he was set up in a nearby bed and breakfast away from everyone for the duration of filming,
* MethodActing:
** Creator/DavidAyer encouraged the main cast to spar in-between takes to better understand the sense of conflict and help tighten their camraderie on-screen.
** As mentioned in DyeingForYourArt, Creator/ShiaLaBeouf cut his face and stopped grooming to better portray the part of Bible.
** The actors were made to live in the tank they used for filming for an extended period of time. Which kind of heightens the words "That's home" when Wardaddy refers to Fury.
* NoStuntDouble: Creator/MichaelPena did his own stunt driving for the tank.
* OnSetInjury: During filming Oxfordshire, a stuntman was accidentally stabbed in the shoulder by a bayonet during rehearsals.
* ProducedByCastmember: Creator/BradPitt is not only one of the leads, but also executive produced it as well.
* TheRedStapler:
** [[VideoGame/WorldOfTanks Wargaming.net]] released a special pack that includes a virtual model of the tank, and even the likeness of the characters as the crew. It charges double for what a comparable tank would normally cost.
** After the film was released, the undercut saw a surge in popularity among young men - after Brad Pitt's hairstyle in it. Type 'Fury' into [=YouTube=] and half the search results will be tutorials on how to pull off the style.
** After the movie was released, most pictures of Sherman Easy Eights on scale model groups and sites had at least a few elements of the Fury tank incorporated in them. The German helmet on the front was especially featured.
