!!General Trivia
* For Latin American viewers, this series was the third Creator/StudioTrigger's work legally translated to Spanish (the other two were ''Anime/KillLaKill'' and ''Franchise/LittleWitchAcademia'', both being available in Creator/{{Netflix}}), the second one being dubbed to Spanish (the other one was ''Franchise/LittleWitchAcademia'') and the first one dubbed to Mexican Spanish (the already mentioned LWA was dubbed in Chile)
** A curious fact for Portuguese viewers is that both this title and ''Little Witch Academia'' were dubbed in the same region but by very different companies in both licensing and dubbing medium. Then, ''Anime/BNABrandNewAnimal'' was dubbed by Netflix in the same studio which dubbed ''Darling in the Franxx'', and finally, ''Anime/{{Promare}}'' was dubbed in Portuguese by another licensor, but in the same studio which dubbed ''Little Witch Academia''. This became a somewhat very interesting fact in Brazilian media as anime in general is usually dubbed in São Paulo instead of those titles, dubbed in Rio de Janeiro. Well, until the announcement of ''Anime/SSSSGridman'' dubbed in Portuguese for television broadcast in 2021, recorded in São Paulo instead. However, such dub has been never aired because of [[ScrewedByTheNetwork irresponsibility reasons that made the channel shut down]].
!!Trivia Tropes
* ActingForTwo: In addition to Naomi, Creator/AmiKoshimizu also voices Hiro during his childhood.
* AnimeFirst: It does have a manga, but it serves as promotion to the anime first and foremost, and the show itself is an original.
* BannedInChina:
** After the third episode, the anime was announced to be no longer airing in China. The whole fiasco is a bit more complicated however: A certain Chinese anime commentator (allegedly called LEXBURNER) directly compared this anime with ''Literature/VioletEvergarden'' (both aired in the same season) in a single commentary video and, with the Chinese fandom already divided over [[DuelingWorks which is the better anime of the season]], a ''massive'' FlameWar broke out over the Chinese internet ([[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything some elements from the anime]] only fueled it even more). This resulted in a self-proclaimed fan of the commentator reporting ''DARLING'' to the Chinese officials for its unsuitable contents, leading [=iQiYi=] (which had exclusive rights to air this anime proper in Mainland China) to pull the plug under pressure (''Manga/SlowStart'' was also dragged down unfortunately). Eventually things calmed down, with [=iQiYi=] resumed airing the series (with usual censorships in place), and at least part the China anime fandom [[WasItReallyWorthIt agreed that they went a bit overboard]].
** This is one of the anime series that got the banhammer on Russia after the government's media watchdog Roskomnadzor decided to ban ''Website/{{Crunchyroll}}'' after they discovered they didn't rate their series properly.
* CreatorBacklash: [[Creator/StudioTrigger TRIGGER]] refuses to acknowledge the show's existence on their website, due to its infamous TroubledProduction (as highlighted below).
* CreatorCouple: Creator/MattShipman is married to Creator/BrittanyLauda; the former voicing Hiro and the latter voicing Ichigo.
* TheOtherDarrin: Daiki Hamano replaces Creator/YuichiroUmehara as Goro's voice actor from Episode 23 onwards after the latter was hospitalized due to acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.
* PortmanteauCoupleName: Bound to happen in a series like this.
** Hiro/Zero Two: ''[=Hir02=]'', ''[[spoiler:Dino-couple]]'' or, [[BirdsOfAFeather fittingly]], ''[[{{Pun}} The Lovebirds]]''
** Zorome/Miku: ''[=ZoroMiku=]''
** Goro/Ichigo: ''[=IchiGoro=]''
** Mitsuru/Kokoro: ''[=MitsuKoko=]''
** [[spoiler:Ikuno/Ichigo: ''[=IchiKuno=]'']]
* TroubledProduction: [[https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/convention/2018/anime-expo-news-roundup-day-zero-one-two-headlines/anime-expo-trigger-panel/.133997 In an appearance at Anime Expo 2018]], [[Creator/StudioTrigger TRIGGER's]] panel revealed that the show's pre-production was difficult and that the team had "been through a lot". There has also been substantial speculation that TRIGGER did not get along with [[Creator/A1Pictures Cloverworks]], and the former had to face having storyboards rejected by the producer and director. TRIGGER eventually pulled out of the series entirely after the release of Episode 14, leading many to speculate that the second half was negatively affected because of TRIGGER's departure. Moreover, the showrunners had to [[TheOtherDarrin recast Goro from episode 23 onwards]] after the original voice actor Creator/YuichiroUmehara was hospitalized due to acute disseminated encephalomyelitis. Judging from ''Franxx'' being completely absent [[https://www.st-trigger.co.jp/works/ on TRIGGER's website]], TRIGGER likely called NoTrueScotsman on the series as a result of the adverse relationship they had with Cloverworks.[[note]]For the record, the series ''does'' appear on [[https://cloverworks.co.jp/works/page/3/ Cloverworks' site]].[[/note]]
