* BreakupBreakout: Triple H, who went from a smart-assed comic-relief type to [[TheChessmaster a guy called "the Cerebral Assassin"]] and a ''fourteen-time'' world champion. Not to mention the son-in-law of the boss. Shawn doesn't count because he was well established before forming DX, and the TropeMaker as well.
* UnPerson: Rick Rude and Tori were not named in the induction of D-Generation X in the Hall of Fame.
** Tori left WWF due to refusal to return to training.
** Downplayed with Rude, who infamously left for WCW in solidarity with Wrestling/BretHart after the Wrestling/MontrealScrewjob, and when he debuted on ''[[Wrestling/WCWMondayNitro Nitro]]'' he proceeded to cut a scathing promo blasting the Vince [=McMahon=] by name for his role in the debacle, however, he was already posthumously inducted as a standalone wrestler into the Hall of Fame two years prior, so his lack of induction with the stable likely has more to do with him not sticking around long enough in the stable to warrant his inclusion.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** There were plans to extend the return of DX after ''Crown Jewel'', which included a match between Shawn vs. Wrestling/TheUndertaker and a Shawn vs. Wrestling/AJStyles, plus Wrestling/TripleH facing Wrestling/{{Batista}} at ''[=WrestleMania=] 35'' (hinted by the ''[=SmackDown=] 1000'' reunion of Wrestling/{{Evolution}}). But all but the last of those plans fell short with Triple H's torn pec muscles and the aftermath of the match convincing Shawn to never again return to a ring.
** On the D-Generation X reunion on an October 2022 episode of ''Raw'', there were talks between WWE and [[Wrestling/AllEliteWrestling AEW]] for Wrestling/BillyGunn to make a one-off appearance for it. Negotiations unfortunately fell through due to a single point of disagreement: AEW wanted the fact that Billy Gunn is now signed to AEW to be mentioned during the segment (something there is precedent for, with Mickie James and Wrestling/ImpactWrestling getting a shout in the 2022 ''Royal Rumble''), which WWE refused to do.
** Around early summer of 1997 Wrestling/VinceRusso submitted an idea to Wrestling/VinceMcMahon that would be a prototype of DX and predict a future version of it. His idea was a group called "The Elite" that would have consisted of Wrestling/ShawnMichaels, Wrestling/TripleH, Wrestling/BillyGunn (then known as Rockabilly), and Wrestling/RoadDogg (then known only as Jesse James). He also suggested as additional members of the group- Erik Watts (who was still under contract with the WWF but had nothing to do after Techno Team 2000) and Brian Christopher (the son of Wrestling/JerryLawler and future member of Too Cool with Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi), with Sunny as a valet/manager.
