1	* AllStarCast: More than ''Film/OceansEleven''. According to one critic, "everyone in Hollywood auditioned for the film," because Malick was a mysterious legend who hadn't made a film in 20 years.
2	** Creator/SeanPenn, Creator/AdrienBrody, Creator/JimCaviezel, Creator/NickNolte, Creator/WoodyHarrelson, Ben Chaplin, Creator/JohnCusack, Creator/JohnCReilly, Creator/GeorgeClooney, Creator/JohnTravolta, Creator/JaredLeto, Creator/TimBlakeNelson, and John Savage.
3	* BillingDisplacement: It's more than a little baffling why Creator/SeanPenn got top billing.
4	** You'll also see Creator/GeorgeClooney's name and face plastered on ever poster, trailer and box cover to do with this film. He turns up in the background of one scene near the very end of the movie.
5	** Not only that, but for some reason Creator/JohnTravolta isn't listed on the poster or in the trailer. Now, this ''could'' be understandable, given how he only has roughly two scenes that come near the beginning-middle of the film, but the fact that they easily outmatch Clooney's one cameo in length leaves one confused as to why he would be substituted. Adding to the perplexity is that Travolta is practically the ''only'' A-List talent in the film's final cut whose name isn't on the poster.
6	** Dash Mihok, one of the most prominent characters and the lead narrator of the film, was left out of the poster.

8	** Creator/BillyBobThornton recorded a narration that wasn't used. In addition, Creator/BillPullman, Creator/GaryOldman, Lukas Haas, Creator/ViggoMortensen, Creator/MartinSheen, Jason Patric, and Creator/MickeyRourke all ended up on the cutting room floor. Rourke was particularly upset at this, as he felt he gave the best performance of his career.
9	** Creator/AdrienBrody's character is one of the main characters in the original novel, and he shot over an hour's worth of finished scenes that stayed true to this. All of it was cut, except for [[DemotedToExtra a brief glimpse of Brody delivering a single throwaway line in the background]]. Nobody bothered to tell Brody, who found out about this when he saw the premiere with his parents, who expected him to be a significant character, in attendance. Yet another in the long list of dick moves by Malick in the making of this movie.

None of them attended the Oscars. The movie won no awards.
