!! ''All'' spoilers for ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'' are unmarked. Administrivia/YouHaveBeenWarned!

* ActingForTwo:
** As usual, Creator/KotonoMitsuishi is the voice actress for Haro, Murrue Ramius and the narrator.
** Creator/RieTanaka voices Meer Campbell and her idol, Lacus Clyne.
** Creator/BradSwaile voices Auel Neider in addition to reprising his role as Dearka Elsman from ''SEED''.
* CreatorBreakdown: ''Gundam SEED Destiny'' was produced while head writer Chiaki Morosawa was undergoing a hysterectomy to treat her uterine fibroids and an ovarian cyst, as well as her battling a severe case of depression, according to her 2008 interview with Magazine/{{Animage}} Magazine.
* CreatorCouple:
** In Ocean's dub, the voices of Sting Oakley and Meyrin Hawke, Creator/BrentMiller and Creator/NicoleBouma are husband and wife.
** Also from the Ocean dub, the voices of Arthur Trine and Murrue Ramius, Jonathan Holmes and Creator/LisaAnnBeley are husband and wife as well.
** Creator/AlysonLeighRosenfeld voiced Luna in NYAV Post's dub of the HD Remaster. Her husband, James Weaver Clark, was one of the additional voices for the HD remaster of ''SEED''.
** Married couple Creator/MarinMiller and [[Creator/LittleKuriboh Martin Billany]] voice teammates Hilda Harken and Herbert Von Reinhard in NYAV Post's dub.
* CrossRegionalVoiceActing: For the HD Remaster's redub, most of the characters were played by UsefulNotes/LosAngeles-based voice actors, while some of the other characters were voiced by actors from the UsefulNotes/NewYorkCity[[note]]including Creator/AlysonLeighRosenfeld and Tom Wayland[[/note]] and UsefulNotes/DFWMetroplex areas.
* DirectedByCastMember: For the English dub of the HD remaster, Creator/CarrieKeranen returned as the ADR director, as well as the voice of Murrue Ramius and the narrator.
* DisownedAdaptation: Fukuda, in a series of [[Website/{{Twitter}} tweets]], wasn't happy over how ''Gundam SEED Destiny'' was adapted in the ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' games (specifically, ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ''), presumably due to the FixFic nature of the games:
-->''To be honest, I'm not very happy. The original story is complete as it is, so it's outrageous to add or modify the images and script. However, games are a different media so I think it's fine. The thing I hate most about the games are that [[InNameOnly even though they use the name (Gundam SEED Destiny)]], the contents are totally no good... There are many people who think that way, and there are many staff members who work really hard on making (these games), so I don't object. However, spare me from the people who come and go "Director, you're happy too aren't you?"'' -- '''Mitsuo Fukuda'''
* FlipFlopOfGod: Fukuda is frequently accused of these. How much is actually true, how much is the result of bad fan-translations of interviews he's given is, and how much is the result of '''fake''' translations made up by haters of the series up for debate. (It IS pretty much widely accepted that his wife Chiaki Morosawa's supposed "interview" was a fake.)
** The Strike Freedom's technical info seemingly gets {{RetCon}}ned every time a new model kit or MS design book is released, to the growing frustration of the fans. At this point there have been approximately '''five''' different explanations for its golden joints. To make matters worse, this doesn't apply to Infinite Justice; its joints are silver only to make them a matched set.
* FranchiseKiller: During the beginning of the series premiere, there were hopes that the Cosmic Era timeline could become the new Universal Century. However, production troubles plagued the second half of Destiny, which heavily divided the fanbase and, coupled with ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDFreedom'' [[DevelopmentHell being temporarily postponed for quite a few years]] (in large part due to [[DiedDuringProduction Chiaki Morosawa's illness and death]]), led to creators and fans giving up on the saga and moving on to ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00''.
* MagnumOpusDissonance: Creator/RieTanaka said in a 2008 interview that she enjoyed playing Meer more than Lacus, despite the latter being one of the most popular characters in ''Gundam'' history.
* MilestoneCelebration: ''Gundam SEED Destiny'' was released during the 25th anniversary of the ''Gundam'' franchise. Similarly, the HD Remaster was released to celebrate ''Gundam SEED'''s 10th anniversary.
* NonSingingVoice: As with Lacus, Creator/JillianMichaels was Meer's singing voice in the original dub.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** The [[CompilationMovie Special Edition]] changed the Japanese actors for a few minor characters, which stuck for most video game appearances; Minerva crew mechanic Yolan went from Creator/TomokazuSugita to Creator/DaisukeNamikawa, former-ZAFT pilot Sato went from Taro Yamaguchi to Kazuhiro Nakata, and Orb pilot Baba went from Hikaru Hanada to Creator/MasayaTakatsuka.
** For the English version of the HD Remaster, Creator/NYAVPost redubbed the series, alongside ''Gundam SEED''. As a result, ''everyone'' was inevitably recast, both living and dead. For example, Shinn Asuka, Lunamaria Hawke and Gilbert Durandal, respectively voiced in the original dub by Creator/MatthewErickson, Creator/MarykeHendrikse and Creator/TedCole, are now voiced by Creator/AaronPhillips, Creator/AlysonLeighRosenfeld and Creator/KeithSilverstein.
* RecycledScript: ''Destiny'' had plot lines that were slight variations of ones used by its predecessor, ''Gundam Seed''. Some examples include: Shinn and Stella's encounter in a cave (in ''Destiny'') being similar to Athrun and Cagalli's (in ''Seed''), while the final battles in both shows are nearly identical, with the only difference being that in ''Destiny'', the Three Ships Alliance's victory was a CurbStompBattle (and in the TV version, a FlawlessVictory).
* RomanceOnTheSet: Creator/KenichiSuzumura and Creator/MaayaSakamoto were cast as Shinn and Lunamaria, respectively, in their first roles together. In 2011, they got married. It's largely this series and the ''Gundam SEED Destiny Radio'' that brought them together.
* StarMakingRole: Creator/KenichiSuzumura was already a well-respected voice actor, but this series was what made him a big name.
* TroubledProduction: The second half to the final thirds of the series had suffered quite a few production problems. The fact that Chiaki Morosawa was perpetually late with the scripts for [[TheTopicOfCancer a nasty cancer]] + [[CreatorBreakdown depression combo]], which forced the other writers to come up with quite the padding to fill in, '''really''' didn't help.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Shiho Hahnenfuss was to have been voiced by Music/NamiTamaki (who sang one of the theme songs in both ''SEED'' and ''SEED Destiny''), but she declined the role.
** In the first dub, minor character Auel was supposed to be voiced by Creator/RichardIanCox, but the voice actor declined the role for unknown reasons.
** The original names for Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice were "[[https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/File:Super_Freedom.jpg Super Freedom]]" and "[[https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/File:Knight_Justice.jpg Knight Justice]]", respectively. In the former case, it would have explained the "[[AttackDrone Super DRAGOON]]" and "Super Lacerta" names.
* WrittenByCastMember: In NYAV Post's dub, Stephanie Sheh once again wrote the English lyrics to Meer's songs.
* YouSoundFamiliar:
** Rey Za Burrel is voiced by Creator/ToshihikoSeki, who previously voiced Rau Le Creuset and George Allster in ''Gundam SEED''.
** Creator/HideyukiHori, who previously voiced George Glenn in ''Gundam SEED'', voices Lord Djibril.
** Creator/HoukoKuwashima, the voice actress for Flay Allster, Natarle Badgiruel and Via Hibiki, voices Stella Loussier.
** Creator/RieTanaka, in addition to returning as Lacus Clyne from ''Gundam SEED'', voices Meer Campbell.
** [[Music/TMRevolution Takanori Nishikawa]], in addition to reprising his role as Miguel Aiman from ''Gundam SEED'', provides the voice of Heine Westenfluss.
** Creator/MasashiHirose, who voiced Sahib Ashman in ''Gundam SEED'', has a minor role as a general.
