Context Trivia / PopUpVideo

* ExecutiveMeddling: Some acts didn't like the treatment the show gave their videos, so said videos were pulled from future airings.
** The Wallflowers' singer Jakob Dylan didn't seem too comfortable with "One Headlight" bringing up his father.
** The Police's "Every Breath You Take" went into the heated in-fighting that eventually led to their breakup.Although later replaced in its episode, the video did get shown again in a "Pop-Up" version of VH-1's Back-to-Back Videos in 2000.
** At the end of Matchbox 20's "Push": "Who will be 'The Downfall of Rock 'n Roll' according to some music critics?" [[spoiler:(Arrow straight down on singer Rob Thomas)]]
** Others, such as Billy Joel's "Keeping the Faith" and Bon Jovi's "Midnight in Chelsea" had some specific "bubbles" changed. In particular, reruns of "What's Going On" by 4 Non Blondes had the images of Literature/TheCatInTheHat and WesternAnimation/AndTheCosbyKids replaced with their respective live-action movie counterparts, possibly due to image licensing issues.
* FollowTheLeader: After the show became a hit, other shows (such as Series/SabrinaTheTeenageWitch and WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender, though the latter being made many years later) started adding their own (unofficial) info nuggets to their own shows. Several of these knockoffs were made fun of on the production company's website.
** What had to be one of their favorite examples was this Bell Atlantic ad from circa 1997, which was well-documented on the website and even warranted a photo of the show's staff showing them "their favorite dialing finger".Except for one doing a "phone" gesture
** Officially, however, there were "Pop Up" versions of Series/WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire, Series/TheBradyBunch, Series/NewsRadio, Series/TheOprahWinfreyShow, and a few Creator/VH1 awards shows.
** For a while, the Creator/AMC channel did this with movies, showing bits of trivia at the bottom of the screen, sans the "pop" noise.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Aside from Pop Up '80s receiving a VHS / DVD release in 1999Though only including 11 videos--One of which, Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love", was actually featured on the main show but not 80s, the series has never seen a proper DVD release (presumably because of music rights issues).
** The official "Pop Up" versions of TV shows are even worse when it comes to copyright issues. The Pop Up Brady episodes don't air anymore at all, because they were exclusive to Creator/NickAtNite and Creator/TVLand, and neither network shows Brady Bunch reruns anymore. In addition, Pop Up Millionaire was apparently Creator/ABC-exclusive, and is never shown on Creator/GSN's reruns.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** At one point VH-1 had plans to air a Pop-Up version of WesternAnimation/YellowSubmarine but this fell through.
** Near the end of the show's first run in 2003, the VH-1 website had listings for a "Pop-Up Culture" special, featuring among other things, "popped" news and movie footageBruce Almighty was one title dropped. According to reports from slighted forum members, the shows were either pre-empted or cancelled outright.
