4	** Many of the show's former contestants have blasted the program for its humiliating challenges, the insensitive commentary from Tyra and the judges and for failing to help support the winners' modeling careers after their Cycle had concluded.
5	** Jay Manuel has gone on record to say that he spoke out against the show's less savory moments, such as the infamous blackface photoshoot, only to be repeatedly shot down. He even wrote a satirical book about his time on the show and his problems with it.

13	** Within a few years after the series' premiere, it came out that host Tyra Banks and fellow judge Janice Dickinson did not get along. Among the reasons for the discord include her opinions regularly being dismissed, particularly about who should be voted the winner of the cycle, and playing up her role as the mean judge. This culminated in her leaving the show after cycle four and no longer making guest appearances altogether after cycle six. Similar problems arose between Banks and judge Paulina Porizkova, who was on panel from cycles 10 to 12, with Porizkova even openly criticizing the decision of casting shorter models for cycle 13.
14	** Banks also had issues with some of the potential models as well. Cycle 24 contestant Jeana Turner claims that she was bullied by producers due to a rumor started by another contestant that she had a cell phone in the house (which is banned), even though it was never proven. Turner would later send Banks a letter detailing the amount of harassment and bullying she and others had suffered throughout the process, only to be ignored. [[note]]Also when the host confronted her during panel about her past Playboy pictures and she defended herself by saying that sex sells and she did it in the hopes of parlaying it into a modeling career, Banks grew disgusted with that and commented how she "sound like a fucking prostitute" and refused eye contact with her for several minutes. This made Jeana break down crying, only for Tyra to suddenly ask her about her alopecia, [[ManipulativeEditing which, unlike the prostitute comment that had driven her to tears, actually did make it into the aired episode.]] Turner also stated that of all the judges on the panel only Ashley Graham openly defended her then and there.[[/note]]

16	** The prize for Cycle 1 was modeling contracts with both Revlon and Wilhelmina. Adrianne Curry, the winner of Cycle 1, was told by Revlon that the contract they promised to give the show's winner was basically a publicity stunt and that they never planned on using the her in any ads. She also alleges that Wilhelmina, after being replaced with IMG Models in Cycle 2, openly sabotaged her career and pushed the third place winner Elyse Sewell just to spite the show. When Adrianne attempted to contact Tyra and the ''Top Model'' producers for help, they ignored her calls.
17	** Angelea Preston was originally declared the winner of the All-Stars Cycle, with a finale panel of her victory having been filmed, but she was disqualified for having worked as an escort for a few weeks after Cycle 12 had ended. Preston alleges that this didn't violate her contract and that the show knew ahead of time of her escort work. She ended up suing Tyra Banks and the show for three million dollars with the lawsuit's outcome unknown to the public.

20	** Apparently, Cycle 3's [[BigBeautifulWoman Toccarra Jones]], Cycle 6's [[IceQueen Jade Cole]] and Cycle 10's [[{{Tomboy}} Lauren Utter]] were asked to return in Cycle 17. Neither did, thus explaining why Cycles 5 and 11 had two representatives.
21	** Cycle 7 runner-up [[ThePerfectionist Melrose Bickerstaff]] wanted to take part of All-Stars but her agency didn't allow her to.
