Context Trivia / Ivory

Go To

* ApprovalOfGod: She's said she loves the Netflix series , saying they did a "great job".
* AwesomeDearBoy: Ivory recalls Wrestling/StephanieMcMahon being "very tentative" when she asked if she wanted to be part of the Wrestling/RightToCensor - assuming none of the Divas would want to do it. Ivory however jumped at the chance, as she loved the idea. She loved having the audience boo her that much.
* BreakupBreakout: From her Wrestling/GLOW TagTeam [=T&A=] and from [=GLOW=] in general. Only four wrestlers remained in the wrestling business, only two of them got booked on live shows long term and of those two this one lasted the longest.
* Corpsing: Apparently, she would often have to work hard to keep a straight face during the Right to Censor gimmick.
* CreatorBacklash:
** She never liked doing Wrestling/WWEToughEnough and joked that there would always be bad luck backstage whenever she returned from taping it. She later clarified that she enjoyed the show, but she just missed actually wrestling whenever she was away taping it.
** She also wasn't a big fan of the photoshoots the Divas had to do. This was mostly because she didn't think she was right for modelling bikinis and such, and they used the same photographers who took pictures from ringside and thus weren't used to glamour shots. They eventually did get better photographers though.
** In a shoot interview she expressed disappointment at an AbortedArc in 2003. She underwent a HeelFaceTurn and was slowly built up as a possible contender to Jazz's title. She picked up three non-title victories over Jazz, and then the latter got injured and Wrestling/GailKim won the title in her debut. Ivory says she was looking forward to having "a last hurrah" as a Face before hanging up the boots.
** Her stint as a co-host of 'The WWE Experience', because she still wanted to wrestle. Though she later realised she should have appreciated what an easy opportunity it was. It also was upsetting for her, because she found the product had gotten so bad - especially the female segments - that it was near impossible to be positive about it.
** Her least favourite storyline was when The Kat was forced into the Right to Censor, mostly because she didn't like the fact that she had to pretend to be afraid of her.
** Played with when it comes to her 'match' with Wrestling/Chyna at Wrestling/WrestleMania X-Seven. She didn't mind it being a SquashMatch - finding that was necessary for her character to get that kind of comeuppance. However, Chyna pinned her by lying on top of her back "like a Playboy spread", which enraged her and she was tempted to kick out and force Chyna to cover her the right way. Wrestling/StoneColdSteveAustin apparently felt the same way when he saw it.
** She was not a fan of doing matches with Wrestling/TheFabulousMoolah or Wrestling/MaeYoung, due to how much slower they were in-ring than what she was comfortable with and how she was nervous of possibly injuring them. Despite that, she did get along with them great backstage, and they even gave her some advice on working matches.
* DyeingForYourArt: When she joined WWE, she had ring rust and trained on her days off to get rid of it.
* HostilityOnTheSet: She has been known to slam a lot of co-workers in shoot interviews in the 2000s. She later clarified that she still had a lot of bitterness that led to her retiring from the industry for good out of a dislike of how she was acting. She appears to have mellowed out in TheNewTens, especially in light of her Hall of Fame induction. Still...
** With regards to the PR she did for [=WrestleMania=] 2000, she said it would have been lots of fun "except I had to do it with Bradshaw" - describing him as an insecure bully.
** She didn't like Chyna too much, because the latter wouldn't keep quiet about how much she didn't want to be in the women's division. Years later, after they had both retired from wrestling, she recalled discovering that Chyna was in town. She was tempted to get in contact with her, but then thought better of it based around this. After Chyna's passing however, she did share some positive stories about herIvory was once discouraged after a crowd kept chanting "we want puppies" in one of her matches, but Chyna reassured her "you're here, because you're good.".
** Subverted with Wrestling/Jacqueline. Ivory initially thought she had done something to offend her, based off how stiff she was in the ring to her. She later realised that was just how Jackie worked.
** Mildly with Wrestling/Lita, who she found difficult to work with - describing her as very limited and unwilling to improve. As a result, their matches "had to fit into this little box". There was also drama backstage after a match where Lita got a nasty cut supposedly from Ivory's boot catching her above the eye. She also disapproved of Lita leaving behind some of the numerous presents she'd get from young fans (she'd reportedly get so many, she wouldn't be able to carry them all).
** In a shoot interview with RF Video, she took a shot at Wrestling/TerriPoch but didn't elaborate.
* PlayingAgainstType: The Ivory character was her first real chance playing a heel. Tina Ferrari had been a Face in GLOW. Ivory was mainly a heel for the majority of her time in WWE, but she turned face properly in 2003.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: She was part of the POWW roster for a while, but had to leave because her day job wasn't paying enough.
* RomanceOnTheSet: She had an offscreen relationship with Shane "Hurricane" Helms after he arrived in [=WWE=] in 2001 from [=WCW=]. Years later, she claimed that Wrestling/RickySteamboat had attempted to court her, but she politely turned him down for a date to meet up with old friends from her GLOW years.
* She Also Did: Prior to her wrestling career, she was a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Express of the United States Football League.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Apparently, WWE at one point in 1999 had wanted her to do a lesbian angle with Nicole Bass, a giant female bodybuilder best known for her appearances on Radio/TheHowardSternShow, who was Ivory's bodyguard at the time. Bass later unsuccessfully sued WWE charging sexual harassment and abuse, which included Ivory and Jacqueline testifying on WWE's behalf. Ivory said about the rejected idea, "I told them I don't have anything against lesbians, but I don't want to be a lesbian on TV, especially if Nicole is going to be my girlfriend."
** On the June 28, 1999 Raw, she threw out an open challenge and Malia Hosaka, formerly of the [=LPWA=] and WCW, ran in and Ivory beat her up without her being identified. People online either recognized her from her WCW appearances or started asking about her. Unfortunately, this meant that WWE's idea for her, a kind of "Rocky Balboa" underdog nobody coming out of nowhere to face the Champion, had to be abandoned. Hosaka basically sat at home under contract while WWE tried to come up with a new gimmick/character for her. They considered bringing her in as "Aphrodisia" as the valet for Essa Rios, but instead they released Hosaka and gave the character, renamed "Lita," to Amy Dumas. You know the rest.
