* ExecutiveMeddling: A couple of gags had to be toned down by order of UsefulNotes/TheHaysCode, such as one in which [[VisualPun steam escapes from the wolf's collar]] as he's watching Red. They also forbade the original ending, in which Granny marries the wolf at a ShotgunWedding and the two of them take their half-human, half-wolf children to see Red at the nightclub, because it suggested [[InterspeciesRomance bestiality]] and depicted marriage in a negative light.
* MissingEpisode: Although [[ExecutiveMeddling the censors demanded the short be censored]] (including the ending), it was said that the uncut version of the short was made, but sent to the troops during UsefulNotes/WorldWarII (as The Hays Code only dealt with content issues in civilian movies and animation shorts). Avery collected uncut versions of his cartoons and a still from the lost ending was shown on an episode of ''Series/ToonHeads'', so there might be a chance that the uncut version is out there.
* NonSingingVoice: Red's singing was provided by Connie Russell, while her Creator/KatharineHepburn-esque speaking was provided by Sara Berner. The wolf's howling was done by Pinto Colvig who was best known for voicing Goofy.
* ReferencedBy:
** Tex Avery's previous studio, Creator/WarnerBros, plagiarized Wolfie with an {{Expy}} in "WesternAnimation/BacallToArms".
** ''Film/TheMask'' contains quite a few shout-outs to this short in particular. The main character is even shown watching the short on TV, and he owns a Wolfie statuette.
** Creator/AndreNorton had a line in one of her books where a character reacts to an unexpected discovery by quoting the second title card.
** The character of Lena Hyena from ''Film/WhoFramedRogerRabbit'' was mostly inspired by the Grandma character from this short. Red’s design was the main inspiration for Jessica Rabbit as well.
** In the film adaptation of ''Film/IntoTheWoods'', the Wolf is designed to look like the one in the original cartoon.
** In ''WesternAnimation/TurningRed'', Mei's WolfWhistle was inspired by Wolfie's reaction to Red.
* WolverinePublicity: Due to Red's inherently appealing nature and popularity, her appearances on the WesternAnimation/{{Droopy}} DVD set are played up to where she is prominently displayed in much of the packaging, even though she only appears in ''two'' of the cartoons included on the set!
