Tearjerking moment in Series/GeneralHospital.
----
* The Thanksgiving episode after Edward passed away, when it shows him walking into the light with Lila.
* The death of BJ and Maxie receiving her heart. Tony laying his head on Maxie's chest, listening to BJ's heart, and Felicia breaking down when she realizes whose heart Maxie is receiving.
-->(Felicia, ecstatic over Maxie's survival comes, across a crying Bobbie, and realizes the horrible truth)\
Felicia: Oh God... Not BJ... (tearing up) Not Barbra Jean's heart!\
(Felicia collapses to her knees sobbing hysterically as she and Bobbie embrace!)
** Called back a decade later with Tony's own death, heroically saving many lives from the epidemic that would take his. After saying goodbye to his loved ones, he begins fading fast and with his last breath, excitedly calls out for BJ as if he sees her.
** Years later, when Maxie's body begins rejecting BJ's heart, she refuses to receive another transplant, feeling it would be disrespectful towards BJ's sacrifice and that a part of her lives on as long as her heart is beating in Maxie's chest. BJ's spirit then visits her, and assures her cousin that getting a new heart is the right action, and that she does live on, but not in her heart, but as long as Maxie and everyone continue to remember her and love her.
** At Bobbie's funeral in 2024, a MysteriousStranger named Angela Brighton showed up, saying she was an Associated Press reporter who "worked with" Bobbie. Following the funeral, Angela said she wanted to do a story about Bobbie's life, and Maxie arranged a session where Bobbie's family and friends talked to Angela about her, including Lucas recalling how his sister BJ called him "Champ" when he was a kid, even after her adoptive mother Bobbie objected to it. Angela seems to suddenly disappear after the meeting, and efforts to contact her by Maxie and Felicia fail, when Maxie can't find any proof of her existence on the internet, and the AP flat-out tells Felicia that no one named Angela Brighton works for them. Lucas catches Angela on her way out of town, and they have this exchange.
--->Angela: I've got to go back home.\
Lucas: Well, thank you for everything.\
Angela: Anytime....Champ.\
(Lucas is stunned, realizing that "Angela" is actually BJ's grown spirit visiting them from the afterlife, but when he turns around she's gone.)Angela was played by Brighton Hertford, who played BJ as a child actress from 1986-94.
* Alan's death. Especially since he and Jason were finally beginning to thaw their years of estrangement. Jason took his death very hard and confided to Monica that he regretted all the years he pushed him away.
** Monica and Tracy as well. They both had a very love/hate relationship with their respective on/off husband and big brother, but it was also obvious how much they loved and missed him even years after his death.
* The death of Stone from AIDS.
-->(Stone, blinded by his illness, and Robin are together)\
Robin: I'll go get you something to eat.\
Stone: (reaching out for her arm and pulling her close) Don't leave me.\
Robin: (slightly crying, realizing what's about to happen) Okay.\
Stone: Go stand by the window... In the light.\
(Robin does as he says, and his eye sight clears up, able to see his girlfriend's face one last time)\
Stone: (Crying) I see you... Oh Robin, I see you....\
(he dies, and Robin goes towards him, sobbing, she shuts his eyes, lies down and embraces him, draping his lifeless arm across her)
* Georgie's death, especially Maxie's reaction. Spinelli's reaction to it also deserves mention, because at that point he was Georgie's closest friend, and vice versa. Most heartbreaking is that he found Georgie's body, and tried to wake her up and begged her to take a breath before completely losing it.
* Carly's grief over Michael's perceived death. After being in complete denial about it she goes into hysterics, and Sonny tries to calm her down so they can both be calm enough to tell Morgan what happened. It feels like a punch in the gut when Carly sobs, "I don't want to live in a world that would take my child away from me!"
* Spinelli finding out from his girlfriend Ellie that Maxie's didn't give birth to Dante and Lulu's baby as a surrogate, but her own and that Spinelli is the father.
* Luke coming to the realization that he blanked out killing his parents in his youth. While he had no remorse at all for killing his abusive monster of a father, his beloved mother was also killed when Luke accidentally hit her with his bat (aiming for his father) and was duly devastated over it. His older sister Pat and cousin Bill found Luke catatonic next to his father's dead body and covered it up.
* Karen breaking up with Jagger after remembering that she'd been molested as a child, believing that she wasn't good enough for him. After months of a downward spiral due to these same beliefs--drug use, working as a stripper, nearly flunking out of college--she finally breaks down and tells him what happened to her. He breaks down too, tearfully asking, "Why didn't you tell me?" and assuring her that he never stopped loving her.
* The coercion into blackmail of Wendy Masters, forced by ex-boss Gloria to extort money from Monica for discretion as to an affair with Ned. Amidst verbal and physical abuse from Gloria and unrequited infatuation with Ned, whose affair with her is only to keep her silence, her lonely, frightened sobs are absolutely heartrending. Her eventual murder is practically too sad to watch.
* Oscar's death in which after he quietly passes away with Josslyn beside him, his soul leaves his body, walks to the door to find Edward and Lila waiting to escort their great-grandson to heaven.
* Britt's final storyline, where she learns she has advanced Huntington's disease, basically decides to leave town to die on her own, holds a big New Year's Eve[=/=]birthday party with only a select few knowing the real reason for the party, then after leaving the party she saves Joss from the Port Charles Hook but gets slashed in the process, leading to a devastating scene where Liesl Obrecht says goodbye to Britt as she dies in her arms.
* The memorial for Epiphany Johnson, the former head nurse at the hospital, after Liz found out the previous day that she'd died over the phone. Made especially gut-wrenching in that it's also a tribute to her actress, Sonya Eddy, who had died a few months prior. Also the fact that it came the day before the Nurses' Ball, an event that Epiphany would often enthusiastically take part in.
