3	* The entire movie, for anyone GenreSavvy. You know exactly how the movie is going to roll out, so any heartwarming moment between the trio is immediately replaced with dread.
4	* Finding out that Andrew's mom, the one person he seemed to be genuinely stable and happy around, died is very heart-wrenching.
5	** Add on to this that one of the last things Andrew does in his home is comfort his mother's labored breathing.
6	* Seeing Matt futilely try to calm down Andrew, who is losing control of his powers and going berserk, and get the police to back off. Anyone with even a little GenreSavvy knows what's going to happen next: Matt's forced to kill Andrew.
7	** What really makes the moment is that Matt is crying and screaming at him to stop and he's obviously in complete despair over what he knows he has to do. After the deed is done, he just collapses into a sobbing wreck. He really did love Andrew.
8	* Steve's death. He's trying to talk Andrew down and claiming he's his best friend, but Andrew, long since past the DespairEventHorizon thanks to his dad, keeps pushing him away until he unintentionally kills him.
9	** While it is left up in the air just how much of the lightning strike was Andrew's fault.
10	** Given that electricity seems to be a weakness for them, what with Andrew knocking himself out when he hits a streetlight, it is indeed doubtful he killed Steve. He's probably just guilty because Steve only flew up into the storm to talk Andrew to get down.
11	** It's less electricity is their weakness and more that the boys have to be aware of what's coming at them in order to shrug it off with their psionic barriers (see: Steve getting knocked out by the plane when the boys are flying, Andrew's impalement at the end during his feral screaming bout). It was {{ambiguous\|Situation}}, to say the very least. Nevertheless, it does hit Andrew badly, judging by his apology of sorts at Steve's grave.
12	** It becomes more tragic when you take into account that Andrew tended to confide more in Steve than he did with Matt. Steve was the only person he really opened up to. Likewise, in the director's cut Steve tells Andrew about his troubles with his own parents that he doesn't want anyone else to know about. Given how close they became, it was very heart wrenching to see Andrew push Steve away then accidentally kill him. Especially since he most likely didn't mean it when he said Steve wasn't really his friend and was probably just lashing out in anger due his father's abuse and lingering words, since he tearfully (we don't see his face, but he sounds tearful) says at Steve's grave that he misses him and is very sorry for killing him.
13	* Andrew's descent into insanity, the Apex Predator speech being just before the point of no return, to tie in on the above, with Richard's and Andrew's hospital scene being that point.
14	* During the barn rave Andrew and Matt go to, Matt suggests that Andrew should get a beer, among other things. Andrew replies that he doesn't drink. Later, we find out that the one of the reasons Richard's so abusive to Andrew is because he drinks. Meaning that Andrew's reason for not drinking is because he doesn't want to end up like his dad.
15	** Combined with FridgeHorror. The one time Andrew DOES drink, it leads to him being humiliated and it marks the moment dominoes really start to fall.
16	* The smashing of the HopeSpot when Andrew's father is in tears besides his hospitalized son, only to reveal he's crying because his mother is dead and now proceeds to blame his son for it.
17	* The scene where Andrew's father finds the camera- not because of what's happening on camera, but because of what can be heard in the background: Andrew's mother ''screaming'' in agony, and Andrew desperately shouting for help as he tries to find the medicine. Not only does Richard ignore the calls for help, but follows this scene by [[KickTheDog accusing Andrew of being "selfish."]]
18	** Really, anything Richard does to Andrew. The very first time we see him we get a rather brutal and frighteningly realistic beating for a reason that is so petty it almost goes far beyond that (not opening a door when told). And he just keeps adding emotional abuse on Andrew any chance he gets, particularly by telling Andrew that his friends don't give a damn about him, completely averting the cliché of such abuse being only physical.
19	* Let it be said that Andrew's entire existence in this movie is just sad. So much what if about what he could have been if only he had even a snowball's chance in hell for a good life before the events of the movie.
