4	* The number 666 can be found across many levels in the game (Interspace 666, Erebus-666, 13 666, etc.), and they are ''all'' references to the number of the beast.
5	* The Abacus-I Artificial Asteroid, where the Oppenheimer XP Supercomputer Core is located, contains numerous references to Film/TheMatrix. The name of the supercomputer itself is a reference to Robert Oppenheimer, the so-called "father of the Atomic Bomb", as well as the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. In the aftermath of forcing the supercomputer to transfer data containing the location of the quantum cannon to your ship, you are confronted by several ''VideoGame/SpaceInvaders''-esque ships.
6	* The cheat code "arnold_for_president" is a reference to Creator/ArnoldSchwarzenegger.
7	* The Atarix is a shout out to the old Creator/{{Atari}} consoles.
8	* A member of the [=RiG=] forums once inferred that the Banzai Titanium Rammer could last for ten thousand years due to its name. In Japanese, "banzai" means "ten thousand years".
9	* The name of the Belzebub Mortar is taken from the demon Beelzebub.
10	* The Black Friday missile is a reference to the 1929 Wall Street Crash.
11	* In the first mission, you are assigned to take out several colonies belonging to the Chemical Brothers. The Chemical Brothers is a reference to a British band of the same name.
12	* Falcor from ''Film/TheNeverendingStory'' can be seen flying in the space debris after the cannon destroys the universe. The music playing during this scene also seems to take cues from the main theme of the same film.
13	* The [=FeX=] labs contain a "Universe Boot-Up Disk" by Microsoft. This is a shout out to legacy versions of the UsefulNotes/MicrosoftWindows operating system, where a recovery disk, usually in the form of a 3.5-inch floppy, could be used to start up the entire operating system. Microsoft called it a "Windows Start-Up Disk".
14	* The name "[=FeX=]" is also a reference to the U.S. Federal Bank.
15	* The Kaiser Franz 650 is most probably named after the Doppelkaiser Francis/Franz who, as Francis II, was the last Holy Roman Emperor and, as Francis I, was the first Kaiser of the Austrian Empire.
16	* Heavy Mental, once destroyed, changes into Heavy Metal. A reference to the music genre.
17	* J.C. Superstar, in full, stands for "Jesus Christ Superstar", which is a reference to a rock opera and musical of the same name.
18	* The rear-end of Klaxxon's train is engraved with the phrase "Last Train to Traincentral", which was inspired from a similar slogan by the KLF.
19	* The name "La Fontaine" is a direct reference to both the famous French poet Jean de La Fontaine and the French word for "fountain".
20	* Nem-O-Matic, a submarine enemy, is a reference to Captain Nemo from Creator/JulesVerne's novel ''Literature/TwentyThousandLeaguesUnderTheSea''.
21	* Franchise/ThePinkPanther machine gun is a reference to the comedy films by the same name.
22	* The Skywalker Hypergun is a ''Franchise/StarWars'' reference, and the name of its creator, Lucascorp, is a Creator/GeorgeLucas and Creator/{{Lucasfilm}} reference.
23	* The S.T.Y.X. is a reference to the mythological river between Earth and Hades.
24	* The United Space Hero Force, and its abbreviation, U.S.H.F., are almost certainly a play on the United States Air Force (U.S.A.F.).
25	* Some members of the [=RakeinGrass=] forum have noted that the USS ''Impotence'' looks rather phallic. Even its name is an obvious reference.
26	* The T in [=TMiG=]-226 stands for Japanese car manufacturer Toyota, while the [=MiG=] bit is a reference to the [=MiG=] line of Soviet fighter craft. During the game's development, [=RiG=] approached Toyota for permission to use their full name, but Toyota declined to give it.
27	* The promotional image on the Zion Generator's purchase screen features the slogan "Zion Inside", a reference to the "Intel Inside" slogan that Intel used in the 1990s in many commercials featuring their processors. [=RiG=] has, however, denied that the "The Final Solution" bit is a reference to the Holocaust.
28	* The dog city, Zogrim, is awash with numerous references. The Z.W.A.T. blimps are S.W.A.T. shout outs, "Zog-Zog Cola" is a Coca-Cola reference, the pirate Casanova is a reference to a real-life womaniser, and "Zogrim Inside" is yet another reference to the Intel commercials.

32	* The Airworm is a direct reference to the eponymous vehicle in ''{{Series/Airwolf}}''.
33	* Yet ''another'' shout out to "Intel Inside" is seen on the promo image of the [=TMiG-310=] Atomic Emu. This time it's "Mad Emu Inside".
34	* The name "Andy Workahol", as well as the art he made popular, "Prog-art", is an obvious shout out to Andy Warhol and pop art. This may also be reference to "Programmer Art," placeholder artwork drawn by a programmer that is notorious for being low in quality.
35	* The Atarix has a small game called Tetrix. It plays just like ''VideoGame/{{Tetris}}''.
36	* The purchase screen for the Coffinator 5000B has a face at the bottom-right hand corner of the promotional image, which is a reference to Music/OzzyOsbourne.
37	* The Carnage TV Fun Centre contains many advertisements containing references, notable ones being one for Absolute Recall (the 1990 film ''Film/TotalRecall1990'', starring Arnold Schwarzenegger), Smell (the gas company Shell), Don't Drink Dope ("Don't Drink and Drive" campaigns), Holes - Making Your Machine Open Source! (UsefulNotes/MicrosoftWindows), IDDQD Tools (VideoGame/{{Doom}}) and Binux - We're Gonna Pay to Make You Use It (Linux).
38	* The Crocker Cr-2 is a shout out to the Fokker Dr.I triplane that the Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen, scored his final twenty kills in World War I, and in which he was shot down.
39	* The Cy-Beria Heat Sinker is a reference to real-world Siberia.
40	* The Einhoff Beer empire contains two notable references. Firstly, most of the empire's vessels are shout outs to the Borg in ''Franchise/StarTrek'', as well as the first thing you hear from the Beer Cube at the start of the first Einhoff level: ''We are Beer! You will be intoxicated! Resistance is futile!'' Secondly, the empire's name "Einhoff" pays homage to a game called The Last Eichoff, a vertical DOS shooter where the player, their guns and all the enemies involved beer in some way.
41	* The Erebus-666 minefield contains several kinds of {{Incredibly Obvious Bomb}}s in addition to the numerous floating mines that give the area its name. Atomic bombs, cherry bombs, dynamite bombs, ''[[Music/TomJones sex bombs]]''...you get the idea.
42	* The golden spheres you collect to enter secret levels are very similar to those found in ''VideoGame/{{Tyrian}}''.
43	* The first ship you start out with is called the Grooman G-3 Goblin. Grooman is a Northrop Grumman reference.
44	* The Hydra Machine Gun is a reference, both in name and appearance, to Lernaen Hydra, a many-headed serpent in Greek mythology.
45	* The card game "Jets'n'Guns: The Torturing" is a reference to the Magic: The Gathering card game.
46	* Justin Perfect is a reference to Richard Gere in appearance and Justin Timberlake in name.
47	* The Lame SSMDI Mk. I and Galactic Hitchhiker are references to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
48	* Lazy Romeo is a reference to the Tamagotchi.
49	* The L.E.D. Zeppelin is a reference to Music/LedZeppelin in name, and to the Zeppelin line of rigid airships in appearance.
50	* The Marvelous Superhero Generator 5000 shoots superhero clones that strongly resemble Franchise/{{Superman}}.
51	* Mr. Loverman, an EliteMook in some levels, is a reference to Jamaican recording artist Shabba Ranks and his signature song, Mr. Loverman.
52	* The Necrofilicon is mainly a reference to the Necronomicon, with a subtle reference to necrophilia. Even its selling price of 13,666 credits is a reference to ThirteenIsUnlucky and the NumberOfTheBeast.
53	* Once hacked with the [=RemCon=], the radio tower on the planet Plop tunes in to a channel called Radio GAGA, which plays an infinite loop of a segment of We Will Rock You. Both the name of the radio station and the music it plays are references to ''Music/{{Queen}}''.
54	* The restaurant that the player docks with after Xoxx destroys the universe is a reference to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe in ''Franchise/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy''.
55	* Robinson 14 and its sole inhabitant are references to Daniel Defoe's novel ''Literature/RobinsonCrusoe''.
56	* The [[Film/{{Ghostbusters 1984}} Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man]] is one of many space debris during the Agent Lemon saga.
57	* The TESLA Devastator's name is a reference to Nicola Tesla.
58	* The physical appearance of the [=WanderWurst=] W-1 is a reference to Lone Star's spaceship in Film/{{Spaceballs}}.

65	* One of the noses you can use when customizing your ship's appearance resembles the iconic cockpit of the Arrowhead from ''VideoGame/RType''.
66	* Another R-Type reference is the fourth mission (not counting the secret mission you can unlock in the third), which has a section before the boss fight that somewhat resembles the ring of turrets in the first stage of the original R-Type.
67	* The description for the Rave-N bomb refers to it as a ''"killer queen of a bomb that can provide you a dynamite with a laser beam"''. This is another obvious reference to a song by Queen. The fact that it is a bomb might also be a possible reference to that song's namesake from ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventure''.
68	* The sequel's new soundtrack, once again performed by Music/MachinaeSupremacy, contains the tracks titled ''[[Music/DavidBowie Ground Control to Major Chord]]'', ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic 20 Percent Cooler]]'', and ''[[VideoGame/{{Battletoads}} Battlecroak]]''.
69	* Your Atarix 2000 comes with a copy of Mortal Tetrix, which is ''VideoGame/{{Tetris}}'' with motion inputs for each piece that activates some special ability. The pieces' names are all CaptainErsatz version of ''Franchise/MortalKombat'' characters.
70	* About halfway through Necrodroid H.Q., you can see two guys with lightsabers fighting over a lava pool. One of them tries to leap over the other guy with the high ground and and gets cut in half. An obvious reference to ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith''.
