''Pair of Kings'' is a Creator/DisneyXD Original Series created by Dan Cross and David Hoge that ran for three seasons from 2010 to 2013.

The show centers around Boomer (Creator/DocShaw) and Brady (Creator/MitchelMusso), orphaned fraternal twin brothers who discover that their parents were rulers of an island called Kinkow, and since they're both the heirs to the throne, [[SiblingsShareTheThrone they become the next rulers as well]].

Other characters include:

* Lanny (Creator/RyanOchoa): The twins' cousin and the next in line for the throne. He deeply despises Boomer and Brady and often tries come up with ways to get rid of them. Boomer and Brady never realize their cousin's true colors. He is the BigBadWannabe of the series.
* Mason Makoola (Creator/GenoSegers): The Royal Secretary, head of security, and was a loyal friend to Brady and Boomer's parents. He often serves as a role model for the twins, and usually solves the problems they cause.
* Mikayla Makoola ([[Creator/KelseyAsbille Kelsey Chow]]): Mason's teenage daughter and Brady's love interest. She is shown to be very skilled with swords, and is also the best trained royal bodyguard in the kingdom.

The third season introduced Boz (Creator/AdamHicks) as a long-lost brother to Boomer and Brady, thus making the twins actually triplets. After Brady leaves the island following a breakup with Mikayla (it's explained in the show that he was allowed to leave as he wasn't one of the "true" kings [[note]]In reality, Musso had been kicked off following a DUI, although he kept his role on ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb''[[/note]]). Boz takes his place as co-king of the island after a storm shipwrecks him and his people of a neighboring island near the kingdom.

!!''Pair of Kings'' provides examples of:
* AbortedArc: "No Rhyme Or Treason" starts hinting towards CharacterDevelopment for both Brady and Mikayla. Brady genuinely stops flirting with her (aside from one instance where he only used a pickup line to prove he and Boomer actually were under an aging spell) and even tries dating other girls, at this point Mikayla starts falling for him. Unfortunately due to Mitchell Musso's DUI costing him his role on the show, this goes nowhere.
* AccidentalMisnaming: She's not the Cave Lady, she's the ''Lady of the Cave''.
* ActionGirl: Oh so very much Mikayla. One episode uses her inability to stop acting like one as a plot point.
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: The royal triplets' names are Brady, Boomer and Boz.
* AlliterativeName: Mason Makoola and Mikayla Makoola.
* AesopAmnesia: No matter how many times Brady and Boomer are scolded for the troubles they cause, they always repeat the same mistakes in the next episode.
* AssumedWin: Lanny was so sure he'd win the ''King For a Day'' contest (helped by the fact he stuffed the ballot box with his name) he started shouting an order as soon as the winner had been announced before realizing he didn't win.
* BackToBackBadasses: Mikayla and Mason vs. The Pirates.
* BigBadWannabe: Lanny
* BigNo: When Lanny learned there was another cousin he needed to get rid of to become King of Kinkow, he would have shouted one but somebody hit him with a coconut.
* BilingualBonus: Quite possibly unintentional, but the evil king's name is Kalakai. In Finnish Kala means Fish [[spoiler: which is exactly what the evil king is.]]
* BlessedWithSuck: Brady and Boomer have "twinstinct", which causes both of them to feel pain when one of them is hurt.
* BodyguardLegacy: As revealed in "The Evil King", the Makoola family has worked to protect the Kings of Kinkow ever since the first [[SiblingsShareTheThrone Twin Kings]]. It being Mason's ancestor who stopped King [[EvilTwin Kalakai]] from killing his good-hearted brother [[TheGoodKing King Malakai]] when, during a duel, they fell into his quarters and Kalakai attempted to deliver the killing blow to his vulnerable brother.
* BoyfriendBlockingDad: Mason is this to Mikayla. It's [[FromBadToWorse made worse]] with the fact he's this ripped guy with a HUGE machete. It's not looking so good for guys who want to ask Mikayla out...
** Kinkow traditions states that before you have to ask out a girl you have to get her father's permission... by surviving a night in the forest playing HuntingTheMostDangerousGame. The guy gets hunted down by the girl's father. No wonder Mikayla doesn't have a boyfriend...
* BoundAndGagged: Mikayla in "Meet the Parent".
* BrokenAesop: "Dinner for Squonks" arguably warns the viewers about respecting the attitudes of other cultures. However, the Squonks, while nice and well-meaning, did not respect the kings' culture, as they forced Brady and Boomer to do things that were disgusting for humans (assuming the Squonks are not human - it was implied they aren't by the way a Squonk with a human-looking and Squonk-sized twin said that twin ''was'' human).
* ButtMonkey: In several episodes, Lanny fills this role.
** Mahama in pretty much every episode he appears in. Heck, he's almost as much of one as [[Series/TrueJacksonVP Kopelman]]. From almost being blamed in his first appearance, Publicly humiliated in '''Mason's''' humiliation ceremony, [[spoiler:getting attacked by the king-hating Viking spirit while it's possessing Boomer, getting turned into one of The evil wizard's Zombie minions]] and [[TheChewToy so much more]].
* CatchPhrase:
-->'''Brady:''' (while flexing) Boom, Boom, POW!
* TheChosenOne: Brady and Boomer may be the Kings of Legend, who will bring peace and prosperity back to the island. Brady and Mason believe it, while Boomer, the Elders, and even the oracular Lady of the Cave have their doubts.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: [[spoiler:Season 2 ends with the Evil King resuming his life as Lanny's pet fish Yamakoshi but Season 3 has no appearance of Yamakoshi or an explanation for his sudden disappearance.]]
* ClashingCousins: The twins and Lanny, though only one-sided.
* [[ClingyJealousGirl Clingy Jealous Brother]]: Boz acts like this when Boomer reunites with his girlfriend in a recent episode, ends up with him crying alone in a room full of banana peels.
* ClipShow: Brady and Boomer were taken to court for blowing up the royal castle. ([[spoiler:They were [[NotMeThisTime innocent]].]]) The trial used a magic stone that showed memories of anyone who touched it. The episode was fittingly called "Let the Clips Show".
* CloudCuckooLand: Kinkow, full stop.
* ComedicUnderwearExposure: Mikayla is the only main character who hasn't fallen victim to this trope (for obvious reasons.)
* CompanionCube: Stabitha, Mikayla's favorite machete. Mason's is named as well.
* CrazyJealousGuy: Brady towards Mikayla.
* CrazyPrepared: Mikayla and Mason have several battle scenarios based around defending the island from various giant creatures, some of which aren't even native to the region. Given how weird Kinkow is, this might just be common sense.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Brady and Boomer can kick surprising amounts of ass when Mason and Mikayla aren't there to bail them out. "Pair of Prom Kings", "Kings of Legend, pt. 2", and "Crouching Brady, Hidden Boomer" are prime examples.
* DamnedByFaintPraise: Boomer is given a plaque that reads 'your dancing makes others feel better about themselves'.
* DeadpanSnarker: Mikayla. Lanny isn't too bad himself.
** Boz also has traces of this:
-->'''Boz''': "Wow, tough childhood. When I was five, I was naked and living in a tree."
* DevilInPlainSight: Brady and Boomer are, for the most part, unaware of Lanny's plot to get rid of them. The only characters who know are Mikayla and Mason.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Most of Lanny's schemes to get rid of the kings. Most of them rely on setting up circumstances so that others will get rid of them for him. In other instances (such as "Pair of Santas"), he chooses to be in the vicinity of these events, causing him to suffer instead.
* DisproportionateRetribution: During Lanny's first brief stint as the King of Kinkow, he sent someone to the dungeons for defeating him in a checkers game years ago; another one for growing faster than him; several people, for unspecified reasons, to the dungeons, moss and tar pits (mostly the dungeons). And, if not for the fact the titular kings returned, we'd know what he had in mind for people he ''didn't like''.
** Later on, Lanny is temporarily alloted his own kingdom on the smallest of Kinkow's islands (which he deems Lanada). Everyone is impressed how quickly he fills up his dungeon.
* DoItYourselfThemeTune: Mitchel Musso and Doc Shaw sing the theme song, "Top of the World".
* DudeMagnet: Mikayla, of course.
* EvilerThanThou: Lanny finds himself on the wrong end of this trope in "Kings of Legend, pt. 2".
* EvilPlan: Lanny has a lot of these kinds of schemes. He even keeps them in a briefcase!
* TheEvilPrince: Technically Lanny, as he was supposed to be king, but then Boomer and Brady came along, so FridgeLogic applied, he is now a prince.
* EvilTwin: One of Kinkow's first two Kings was this to the other. He's responsible for the existence of the dark side of the island.
* {{Expy}}: Queen Uber Oogli to [[ComicStrip/LilAbner Sadie Hawkins]].
* TheFaceless: In Boz's debut episode, Brady appeared but was only seen from behind.
* GreenEyedMonster: Lanny is jealous of Brady and Boomer for becoming the rulers instead of him.
* GroundhogDayLoop: In the episode "Do Over", Brady and Boomer find a magical time traveling device that makes them start the whole day over every time they say "[[TitleDrop do over]]".
* HappilyAdopted: Boz was found by a nice ape family and raised as one of them until he was ten. He's seen keeping in touch with them and still considers himself a monkey at various points.
** Interestingly, he rarely recalls his time in Mindu, but speaks fondly very often about his childhood with the ape family
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Rebecca Dawson's dad during his backstory, who was a traitorous shaman of the tarantula people, and Lanny at the end of "Long Live the Kings".]]
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Boomer, Brady, and Boz are all completely unaware that Lanny hates them, wants the throne for himself, and is generally unpleasant.
* {{Hypocrite}}: In "An Ice Girl for Boomer", Brady mocked Boomer for not actually going on a date with Rebecca Dawson yet, and stated that they didn't have a real relationship. This is in spite of the fact that he hadn't asked out Mikayla yet (something Boomer was quick to point out).
* ICallItVera: Mikayla calls her machete "Stabitha".
* IdiotBall: The protagonists hold one with regards to Lanny, ignoring his poorly-concealing insults and attempts to get rid of them.
* IdiotHero: Oh, so much Boomer and Brady. They use stupid methods to solve the problems that they have caused (and they always succeed thanks to pure luck) and they are completely unaware of the fact that their cousin, Lanny, constantly plans on murdering them.
* {{Japandering}}: During Mason's humiliation ceremony, it's revealed he once made a workout video only released in Finland. Lanny, as an Ambassador in Finland, brings up a copy for the ceremony. Unfortunately, [[spoiler:for Lanny, Mason was the only Kinkownian he could humiliate without fear of retribution but not the only one featured in the video.]]
* InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals: Mikayla's ex-boyfriend, Lucas, bares an uncanny resemblance to Boomer. Naturally, Boomer doesn't see it.
** Boz even remarks that Mikayla looks like his ex-girlfriend Shasha. Naturally, everyone dosne't see it.
* JustLikeRobinHood: Brady and Boomer as Sirocco and Siroccotaco.
* LongLostRelative: Boz to Boomer and Brady.
* LoveMakesYouDumb: Brady's crush on Mikayla often leads him to do some very stupid things.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: Some of Brady's most unlikeable moments are also brought about due to his crush on Mikayla. He once banned all poetry on all the island after Mikayla and Boomer started going to poetry slams together (as friends).
* MacheteMayhem: Mikayla really, REALLY, likes machetes. In one episode, knowing she might have reason to use one on Lanny, she gets extremely creepy and starts muttering about "shock and awe" while pondering her favorite machete, Stabitha.
** She also owns a pocket machete, apparently.
** In one episode, Boomer intends to lure her out by yelling out "Who wants free machetes?!"
* MeaningfulName: Queen Uber Oogli.
* MissingMom: So far, there has been no mention of Mikayla's mother...
* MsFanservice: Mikayla.
** Kicked up to 11 in "Pair of Prom Kings" when Mikayla exchanges her usual attire for a prom dress.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: In the first episode, Boomer and Brady shatter the special, magical ruby of the island, causing the island to shake and the volcano to become active. It gets better, however, as the twins find the sister ruby.
** In "Kings of Legend", their efforts to move the TakenForGranite BigBad away from the island's dark side cause the statue to slide ''into'' the dark side, reviving him.
* NoodleImplements: Fits in with their {{noodle incident}}s.
* NoodleIncident: A fair few of them.
* NotMeThisTime: It was hard to believe Brady and Boomer weren't the ones to blow up the castle in "Let the Clips Show".
* ObliviousToHatred: The Kings are completely oblivious to Lanny's evilness and hatred for them and shower him with affection.
* ObviouslyEvil: Lanny and Yamakoshi. Lanny should be pretty obvious to the audience, as he lets things slip out every so often, but the characters never seem to notice.
** After Boomer and Brady are kicked off of a neighboring island [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext for building a giant people-slingshot]], Lanny ''[[MyCard gives his business card]]'' to that island's rulers.
-->'''Lanny:''' If you ever want revenge... here's my card.
** Lanny seems to be the only character who understands when Yamakoshi talks.
** Yamakoshi's true evil colors were revealed when he assumed the form of [[spoiler:his previous incarnation as Kinkow's Evil King]].
* OhCrap: Boomer and Brady have several of these moments, but other characters have had one.
** Mason had his moment at his Ceremony of Shame when Lanny brought out his embarrassing exercise video.
** Mason and Mikayla had several trying to hide Brady's Waka-Waka bite side-effects from his parents.
** The saleswoman of the Cowboy [[spoiler:and Supernatural]] shop had one, too, when she found out [[spoiler:that he released the king-hating Viking spirit.]]
** Lanny has had a fair share, especially when he realized he was standing over a shipment of weapons that were being dropped from the sky. ItMakesSenseInContext.
* OnlySaneMan: Mikayla and/or Mason usually fall into this role.
** Mikayla seems to be straying away from this trope in season 3, most likely because Brady is no longer around to hit on her.
* OurMermaidsAreDifferent
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Imagine being the triplet's parents. One son was lost in a storm and presumed dead, the other two had to be sent away for their own good, and the parents didn't even live to the day when their sons returned.
* PickedLast: {{Inverted|Trope}} Before any team captain would pick either of the titular Kings at school, they'd pick the girl walking on crutches and the janitor.
* PlatonicLifePartners: Boomer and Mikayla.
* PoorCommunicationKills: In "The Evil King". [[spoiler:The ghost of King Malakai told Brady and Boomer to watch out for the "EvilTwin". He neglected to mention that it was ''his own'' evil twin, Kalakai, he was talking about. Without this crucial piece of information, Brady and Boomer wasted their time checking every twin on the island, and later, began to suspect each other of being evil.]]
* PutOnABus: At the end of the second season, Mitchel Musso as Brady (who had been arrested for DUI) was written out of the show as moving back to Chicago following a breakup with Mikalya, and replaced by Adam Hicks as Boz.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: Boomer's Junga Ball team.
* [[RaisedByWolves Raised by Apes]]: Boz.
* RealityIsUnrealistic: Though very rare, it is possible for a mixed race couple to have twins that each bear the physical features of a different race.
* TheReveal: The Evil King mentioned in the EvilTwin part of this page reincarnated in [[spoiler:Lanny's fish Yamakoshi]].
* RiggedContest: For the ''King For a Day Contest'', Lanny stuffed the ballot box with his name so he could win. Averted, however, because by some miracle, Lanny did not win. Invoked by Brady, who put in his own name as a joke.
* RingOfPower: Each King has one.
* RunningGag: The vase in the kings room gets broken every few episodes in various different ways.
** TheyKilledKennyAgain: The vase always gets replaced off-screen.
*** The ClipShow suggests it's the same vase being repaired every time. The Kings placed on it a magical stone that shows memories of people who touch it and the stone showed memories of the vase being broken. And yes, after that, the vase gave in to the stone's weight.
*** When Boomer and Boz went to Chicago to visit Rebecca and her Dad, Boz intentionally broke Mr. Dawson's vase under the belief it'd repair itself as well.
*** Hilariously, in one episode Boomer ''intentionally'' tried to smash the vase, but couldn't.
*** In one episode, the vase is completely restored mere seconds after being broken.
* SameSexTriplets: Brady, Boomer and Boz.
* SealedEvilInACan: The ghosts sold at the [[spoiler:Cowboy and Supernatural]] shop come in ''cans'', and it just so happened that Brady let an evil ghost out by accident.
* SeriesGoal: Lanny's is to get Brady and Boomer to leave Kinkow so he can take their place as ruler.
* ShipTease: The two-part season two finale suggests Mikayla has stated to have feelings for Brady. But, due to Mitchell Musso not returning the following season, [[AbortedArc this goes nowhere]].
* ShoutOut:
** Lanny mentions that Mason sounds like [[WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994 Mufasa]].
*** He also mentions that rolling the kings over with a giant boulder is "too Franchise/IndianaJones-y."
** In the episodes "A Mermaid's Tail", [[spoiler:Mikayla is turned into a]] [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989 mermaid and a crab next to her plays calypso music]].
** When Brady and Boomer use wigs to disguise themselves, Boomer thinks it's a dumb idea but Brady says that if he were an [[Series/HannahMontana international teenage pop star]], his best friend wouldn't even recognize him.
*** Wouldn't the above example count as ActorAllusion for Mitchel Musso, as well?
*** Mason also screams Music/MileyCyrus when [[Film/TheFortyYearOldVirgin getting his chest waxed]].
*** Boomer says "Sweet Music/SelenaGomez!" when Brady finally proves he's Sirocco.
** The episodes "Where The Wild Kings Are" and "The Brady Hunch" are references to ''Literature/WhereTheWildThingsAre'' and ''Series/TheBradyBunch'', respectively.
** [[Franchise/HarryPotter Brady Potter and Boomer Weasley]], anyone?
** After Boomer is told that [[ItMakesSenseInContext the salty vegetable he's thinking of is okra]], he replies "No, [[Creator/OprahWinfrey that's a talk show host]]."
** When a false cook that hosts a TV show was supposed to prepare goulash, he came up with some excuses. One of them was [[Literature/TheEmperorsNewClothes about only intelligent people being able to see it]]. Unlike the other excuses, Boomer didn't quickly dismiss it as a lie.
* SiblingsShareTheThrone: The premise of the show.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Lanny is convinced he could be a better ruler than the kings, and could even push back the Dark Side forces.
* SmugSnake: Lanny.
* SureLetsGoWithThat: After a giant spider is destroyed and the Kings got dirtied by it. When Brady asked asked Boomer if that's the reason Boomer said he needed a change of underwear, Boomer hesitated before answering 'Yes'.
** When Mikayla got stuck with Brady in his body and Lanny in Boomer's (long story), Boomer assumed it was Mikayla making Brady skip like a girl and the trope came into play.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Boz to Brady.
* StartMyOwn: Not satisfied with how Brady runs Kinkow's Junga Ball team, Boomer started his own team.
* StudioAudience
* TakenForGranite: Zadoc, the evil wizard from the "Kings Of Legend" two-parter was turned to stone a long time ago... then [[spoiler:he got revived]]. Then, [[spoiler:he got turned back to stone.]]
* TitleDrop: The show's name has been mentioned in-universe in "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Thumb and Thumber".
* TokenWhite: Brady in the main cast. Boz takes over this role in season 3.
* TookALevelInBadass: The kings subtly, while their attitudes towards danger hasn't changed the fact that they are willing to face it and actually succeed in defeating some adversaries on their own shows that they have gotten better.
* UncannyFamilyResemblance: Inverted. You'd never know Boomer and Brady were twins until it is outright stated.
* UngratefulBitch: The twin Queens of the island of Sununu. Despite the fact that Brady and Boomer had just saved their entire island from a stupidity-inducing curse (which they had brought upon themselves with their own arrogance), they mock their saviors, and demand that they leave the island. Justified because Brady and Boomer had previously taken advantage of the curse to convince the islanders to build a giant slingshot and some islanders got themselves killed from using it before the curse was broken.
* UnknownRival: Boomer, Boz and Brady are all totally oblivious to how Lanny is trying to get rid of them to become king himself, often misinterpreting his schemes as attempts to help. Rather than enjoy this, Lanny is infuriated that the trio don't even recognize him as a threat. The only ones who suspect his true nature are Mikayla and Mason. In fact, the only reason why they tolerate him is because they know he's too incompetent for any of his plots to actually succeed.
* TheUnreveal: Nobody knows who the eldest brother is. This is the reason Brady (later Boz) and Boomer equally share the power as the Kings of Kinkow instead of the elder brother being the only king.
* TheUsurper: Lanny tries to get rid of the Kings. He briefly tasted victory when he told them they could save the island. by throwing themselves into Mount Spew for sacrifice. They instead got a MacGuffin so, until he and the people saw his cousins alive, he was the King. That time when Brady and Boomer left in shame after [[NiceJobBreakingItHero accidentally helping Zadoc to escape]] doesn't count because Lanny had no role in their leaving.
* VomitIndiscretionShot[=/=]VomitDiscretionShot: When the twins and the king for a day are in the nest of the giant prehistoric-like bird, they think that its going to speak to them. Cue a squick inducing pinkish deluge splattering on the twins. On another note...''they LIKED it''.
* WantedPoster: Brady's criminal alter ego "Scirocco" had his picture in a wanted poster reading "Barely Alive".
* WealthyYachtOwner: When Brady and Boomer were arguing about each other's spending habits, Boomer called Brady out for having a yacht collection. Brady told Boomer to stop at this point because, as Kings, they might take the arguing way further otherwise.
* [[WhereTheHellIsSpringfield Where the Heck Is Kinkow?]]: Kinkow's location is never clearly defined.
* WhoWouldWantToWatchUs: King Brady and King Boomer invited the host of one of their favorite shows to the island. When complaining about the island's weirdnesses to his agent, he was asked about making a series off it and he didn't find it a good idea.
