''Viudas e hijos del Rock and Roll'' (Widow and sons of Rock And Roll) is an Argentine telenovela, starring Paola Barrientos and Damian De Santo.

Miranda is a rocker, the daughter of the famous radio host Roby. Back in 1992, she was in the Villa Gesell vacation city with her friend Sandra. Everybody tried to flirt with her to get close to her father; except Diego, who did not know about that. They had a romance the whole January, while they stayed in the city. Then they made an oath: they would not exchange adresses or phone numbers, and instead meet the next 14/2 at the Buenos Aires obelisk. But then, things go down: Miranda saw that her best friend had a romance with her father, and cursed them both. Diego had a car accident and failed to meet Miranda as they had arranged, so she cursed him as well; and gave up the whole rock and roll thing, forever.

And then we jump to modern day. Roby has died, and Miranda attender the funeral, even if she had not seen her father or her former best friend since then. Diego saw him in TV, when the news report talked about the funeral, and finally meet her again... 22 years later.

* AccidentalPublicConfession: Tired of being rejected by Tony (who had a gay romance with Segundo), Lourdes taunted Inés that she knew a very dark secret of Segundo, one that would be a huge scandal if revealed to the press. Inés (who was having problems with the returned Maria Esther at the time) replied "Yes, I'm not Segundo's mother, he's the son of a maid, so what?". [[BigWhat SAID WHAT?????]]
* AdamWesting: The actor Mex Urtizberea used an artificial beard in ''Series/{{Graduados}}'', and his character was a huge success. Two years later, he simply let his true beard grow.
* ApatheticCitizens: Thinking that the Polaco was cheating his mother, Diego climbed on him while he was weight training and forced the barbell on him, while Rama added even more plates. What did the other people in the gym do? Just watch.
* [[AscendedFanboy Ascended Fangirl]]: Vera, a fan of Argentine rock in general, to the point that she became a music journalist. And one day, she discovered that Roby, the legend of Rock, was his lost father!
* AristocratsAreEvil: Except Miranda (who is not really one of them) and Segundo, all the Arostegui fall into this.
* BeenThereShapedHistory: Roby, Gabriela and Pipo have met all the great musicians of Argentine Rock, and attended all the major events in Argentine rock history. The radio is filled with [[OrwellianRetcon photos of Roby with musicians]].
* BeleagueredAssistant: Piojo in the radio for Pipo, Estela for Sandra in the radio, and Iaia in the Arostegui house.
* {{Bouncer}}: Diego, did you thought that you could just walk in the funeral of a famous person, just like that? Think again... in the street!
* BurnBabyBurn: Miranda and Vera sold their shares of the radio to Sandra, who took the contract to gloat before Pipo. Pipo read it with no signs of concern, and then burnt it with his cigarette lighter. A new "son of rock and roll" has appeared (meaning, yet another missing son of Roby), which makes the sales null and void until the shares are properly redistributed.
* BusesAreForFreaks: Left alone and without car at the party, Lourdes, tried to find a taxi to return home, but none stopped. So, she took the bus number 29 instead (a mere random bus she found in the street). She tried to pay for it with her credit card instead of the bus card (which she did not knew that it existed), and stayed in the bus during its fixed path; that left her in the middle of nowhere.
* ButtMonkey: Piojo, Pipo's assistant. Pipo loves to humilliate him for whatever reason, or for no reason at all.
* CallingTheOldManOut: Miranda really hates her father, and how he cheated on her mother with her best friend. She can even start yelling to his parent's face in an advertisment banner in the street.
* TheCatCameBack: Vivian, Rama's stalker, follows him everywhere and manages to sneak into anywhere.
* CelebrityParadox: Pablito Ruiz mentioned that he's still a patient of Victoria Lauría, from ''Series/{{Graduados}}''. Victoria Lauría was played by Paola Barrientos, the same actress that plays the main character here.
* ContinuitySnarl: In the first episode, Miranda had those crisis with her father, her best friend and her boyfriend (all of them rockers), made an oath to leave rock forever, and then met Segundo. However, in later flashbacks of her young romance with Segundo, she's still a rocker.
* ContrivedCoincidence: Diego saw that Miranda was at Roby's funeral, and tried to reach her, by failed: the Bouncer did not let him. The chance was lost. Still, he meet her again at the end of the first episode anyway. His friend saw a drunk girl from Rosario, who was at the funeral as well, and invited her to stay at their home. They did not know that she was Miranda's sister (born out of wedlock), nor did she knew that they were looking for Miranda. Miranda had to locate her, and she was sent to the place where she was staying for the night... and Diego opened the door.
* CoolOldLady: Gabriela, Miranda's mother. She has been a rocker all her life, and had sex with all the Argentine Rock.
* CultureBlind: While playing Truco, the famous Argentine card game, Tony gave an air kiss to Segundo. Segundo [[MistakenForGay thought it was a display of affection]], and gave him another one. When he revealed his cards, he lost the bet, and Tony was infuriated: where is the 2 of spades that Segundo told him he had, by giving the air kiss?[[note]]See [[http://www.taringa.net/post/info/13299112/Senas-Truco-Argentino.html here]] for a full list of secret codes in Truco[[/note]]
* DefectorFromDecadence: Lourdes, who get divorced from Nacho and started a romance with Bruno.
* TheDitz: Lourdes. Inés always insults her because of that.
* DoubleEntendre: Segundo, a closeted gay, hired the handsome Tony to work with the horses, and Lourdes soon realizes how handsome he is (more than her husband, by the way). Each time either of them talk with him, there's at least one DoubleEntendre. Poor Tony, he does not notice anything.
* DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale: Sandra took advantage that Federico was completely drunk, [[DrowningMySorrows because Vera did not want him]], took him to her house, secuced him and had sex with him. The next day, Federico got a lot of crap for having sex with Sandra, but nobody pointed to Sandra that she had basically raped him.
* EscalatingWar: Lourdes' husband was cheating her with Sandra, and Lourdes saw it. In response, she had sex with Tony... without asking Tony if he wanted to have sex or not.
* EspeciallyZoidberg: After Roby's death, Pipo announced that the radio would hold a party, to celebrate the end of his life the same way he had lived. Sandra interrupted him and asked who authorized that... and it happened that it was among his [[LastRequest last requests]].
-->'''Sandra:''' And did he ask you to conceal that info from his very wife?
-->'''Pipo:''' Among other things...
* EveryoneHasStandards: Inés and Emilio sharing a kiss? By their own free will? And smiling after doing so? That's impossible! But for such a pair of racists, knowing that their son is about to get married with another man, is something that forces them to break ''any'' limits. Even that one.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Tony. Both Segundo (male) and Lourdes (female) want him.
* FaceFault: Pipo, when he was informed that he's Seba's father.
* FriendlyEnemy: Sort of. Sandra and Miranda were best friends in their youth, until the thing over Roby distanced them. When Miranda returned, she was wary on Sandra, both for the past and for her actions in the radio. Sandra, on the other hand, began to long for her lost friend, and eventually they became best friends again.
* GrayRainOfDepression: And when the hours passed, and Diego did not show up at the obelisk... it started to rain.
* HopeSpot: After 22 years, Diego has finally located Miranda. She's at Boby's funeral, and he managed to elude the {{Bouncer}} in the door. Now he's looking everywhere, to find Miranda at long last. She's there! The quest is over! Oh, come on, Mr. Bouncer, don't do this, give Diego just a second...
* HowDareYouDieOnMe: Miranda was attending the wedding of some friends, when she received the news that her parent had died. Rather than get sad, she goy furious: she hates that man, she has not seen him in 22 years, and he dares die NOW, during the wedding of her friend, to steal her a moment of happiness?
* JustEatGilligan: Perhaps it wasn't a solution for 1992, but if Diego really wanted to find Miranda, even if he had no adresses or phone numbers, he could have done so years ago with Website/{{Facebook}}. Fortunately, that overlooked option was just the OriginStory.
* TheLancer: Rama, for Diego. Sandra was Miranda's lancer in the origin story.
%%* LargeHamRadio
* LeftTheBackgroundMusicOn: Usually, the songs played in the radio stay for a while as a soundtrack.
* LivingProp: Miranda's sons. We only know about the ''consequences'' of their presence (Miranda can't run away after a lover from the past, she has to make sure the kids are always either at school or home, adult people has to endure their childish antics, etc), but we hardly know anything about ''them''. They are not mute, but feel fortunate if they say just two sentences in the week.
* LonelyTogether: Piojo is a complete loser, so much that he's still a virgin. Estela is another loser, who can't even get 10 people to go to her birthday, and even those leave one by one. But, as Pipo points out, she will not be left alone, he will left her with Piojo, and, [[LeftTheBackgroundMusicOn as the background music says]], "''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC_XR8iLY8c hay química entre los dos]]''"
* LongLostRelative: Vera. As if everything that was happening was not enough, Miranda finds out that his father had yet ''another'' daughter; and not with his mother or with Sandra, but someone else. Both Miranda and Sandra were infuriated. But Vera, who didn't know that Roby was his father, was so exited about meeting them and the radio...
* MatchCut: The opening theme is composed by those.
* MrFanservice: "El Polaco", he's a stripper, and he's usually at the house wearing nothing but a little slip.
* NoIndoorVoice: Oh, for pity's sake, do NOT make Miranda angry. Or better yet, do not mention her parent or her former best friend...
* NonPromotion: In the last episode, Pipo promoted Piojo. He will no longer be his body slave, constantly humilliated and forced to work like an ant the whole day. Now he is... Pipo's assistant! Now, keep filing those things.
* NostalgiaFilter: "Qué más quisiera que robar al pasado tus horas mágicas, tus cielos nublados..."
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: Pipo, a close friend of Roby, acts as this to Sandra.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Inés may be a dick to everyone, but she never has any actual evil plan to do anything. All she does is sit in her chair, read the newspaper and magazines, and protest about the antics of Martita Cano.
* PapaWolf: The father of Susana is a gangster, and he's very happy that his daughter will get married. He placed all his thugs (I mean, sons) around Diego and told him: make sure she's always happy, [[YouHaveFailedMe OR ELSE]].
* PlotTriggeringDeath: The death of Roby puts the events in motion in the modern day, after the timeskip. Without it, Diego would still ignore the whereabouts of Miranda.
* PoorCommunicationKills: If Diego and Miranda had exchanged ''some'' way to stay in contact, just in case something goes wrong, their love would have not been broken by that car accident.
* PresentAbsence: Martita Cano, who always appear in magazines and causes Inés to be angry because she's always better. And her granddaughter, who is always saying things on Twitter and Facebook that enrage Lourdes. Martita eventually appeared, her granddaughter did not.
* ProperlyParanoid: Rama was dead sure that Vivian was stalking him and following his every move; the others thought that he was crazy as usual. But he was right.
* ReferenceOverdosed: The series is filled with references to Argentine rock (and in some cases international rock as well) at every corner. Fake photos, fake meetings, background music, characters discussing about music, etc. Just in the opening, we have the Misfits' skull, the smiley, Pappo's blues, Sumo, the Rolling Stones' tongue, Ratones Paranoicos, 2 Minutos, Nine Inch Nails, Los Piojos, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Papers, Patricio Rey y Sus Redonditos de Ricota, and several more.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: When she was angered with the rockers Diego, Roby and Sandra, Miranda simply rejected everything related to rock.
* ShooOutTheClowns: Segundo was a closeted gay, but Pedro was openly gay, and always the LifeOfTheParty. Segundo joined a self-help group that helped people to "cure" their homosexuality, and invited Pedro. He accepted, taking it as some kind of big joke, but after a single meeting he got serious and told Segundo all the things that were wrong with the concept of such a group.
* ShootTheTelevision: When Lourdes told Ines about something said on Twitter or Facebook that she did not like, Ines channeled her anger by destroying Lourdes cell phone.
* SpeakNowOrForeverHoldYourPeace: Played with. Ines and Emilio did not show up to interrupt the wedding of Segundo and Tony at ''this'' point, but instead before the WeddingDeadline. When the scandal was ended and everyone was back in place, the judge made this question, but Miranda asked to SkipToTheEnd, to avoid TemptingFate.
* SpitTake: Trying to find out info about María Esther, his real mother, Segundo asked in general about the maids that the Arostegui had in the past. Emilio and Ines started to laugh about several maids, so Segundo was more direct: "What about María Esther?".
* SpiritualSuccessor: For ''Series/{{Graduados}}'', as it has most of the cast and similar themes with Argentine rock and nostalgia (Graduados was focused in the 1980s, and ''Viudas...'' in the 1990s). In fact, it was originally going to be a real sequel, but then they remembered that [[{{Sequelitis}} sequels in Argentina usually do not work well]]
* ThisIsUnforgivable: In 22 years, Miranda never forgave her father for cheating on her mother, or her best friend for doing that with her father.
* TimeSkip: The first episode begins in 1992. Miranda and Diego met in Villa Gesell and had a romance, Roby and Sandra had their own romance, and Diego failed to meet Miranda at the point where they would reunite. And then, we jump to the modern day.
* TorchesAndPitchforks: The gay wedding of Segundo and Tony was interrupted by Inés and Emilio, who considered it an abomination against nature. Gaby stroke them down, and then all the others joined in to give them a well deserved thrashing.
* TrailersAlwaysSpoil: An advertisment of "September in Telefe" slipped a blink-and-you-miss-it scene, among all the others from all the network programs: [[spoiler:Susana, dressed as bride and evidently in her wedding, suddenly aims to the people with a gun.]]
* TyrantTakesTheHelm: Sandra did not have much of a voice in the radio, and Roby was in the process of getting divorced from her; and then died. Sandra became the widow of Roby, and owner of the radio, ready to make a lot of changes... but Pipo does not allow her to have it her way, and Miranda and Vera have each a third part of the shares of the radio, leaving Sandra in the minority.
