Union, a rural township located in what was the mid region of the United States of America, now simply known as District 5 of the North Eastern Hemisphere. The town has been quite for the most part, and with a new Administrator (head of local government) on it's way the local OSF is doing it's best to keep the town in order. Though crime doesn't end for the benefit of just anyone, and even now, the OSF moves in on a drug bust, usually such would be a trivial matter....

The Path is an organization dedicated to putting Metahumans on top. They are the spiritual successors of the Order, planning to create a utopia where Metahumans rule all. They are a dangerous radical extremist group, bent on world domination. It was however not always so, once the Path was a group for good, working for fair treatment of Metahumans in a world run by the Order. The Path was once a group that provided a refuge for Metahumans to escape prejudice. But those days are long gone. This is the story of how the Path once was. This is a story of why the Path became what it is. But most of all, this is a story of what happened to the people who took a stand for equality, only to see two men betray all they stood for. It started with a death, as most stories do…

The year is 2027 and the world has settled down, slowly it is returning to normal once more. In America events are rising though that could threaten the entire world itself. 53'''Of Men and Titans: Dead Kings'''

The sequel to ANAE; Dead Kings picks up 17 minutes from where Part 1 A New American Era leaves off.

Only a decade earlier the world government known as the Order collapsed and the era of unity came to end at the hands of a global revolution.

The former United States - now known as the United American Republic continues its struggle to rebuild and define itself and its place in this new era, and powered individuals, collectively known as metahumans and formerly as abhumans are now growing in their numbers after over 200 years of prosecution under the Order's regime.

With the former world government now in shambles, crime is on the rise and corruption is rampant as the Washington PD continues struggling to counter street gangs who have now accumalated into the well known Washington Underworld, and ruled by a handful of an elite circle of the city's kingpins.
Drugs, theft, prostitution, bribery and even black market firearms now rot the city to its core. Many now decide to take the law into their own hands, particularly many metahumans who embrace their role as the city's shadow guard and vigilantes, while others seek to profit and prosper and end up joining the Washington Underworld.

!!This roleplay provides examples of:

* AcademyOfAdventure: Kyoto Guardian Academy has shades of this.
* ActionFilmQuietDramaScene: The series has several of this, but mostly due the fact that players did not acknowledge another action of a player, possibly leading to a {{mood dissonance}}.
* AGodAmI: Dr Mosley is all over this, especially during his revival arc in Dead Kings.
* AlternateHistory: Setting of Of Men & Titans, where individuals have powers that is sometime scientifically impossible, and when a cult against those people take over the world.
* AncestralWeapon: Takashi currently holds his deceased father's katana, which was used by several other Samurais. Built in the 1700's.
* TheAtoner:
** Damien does seem to feel remorse over his amoral actions towards the end of Book III and resolves to atone for his wrongdoings however acknowledges that he may never truly absolve himself from damnation but must make the effort to become a better person nonetheless. In the Washington Saga (ANAE and DK) he stakes his life to rescue Alfred from insanity and a fate worse than death and later travels to Japan to continue his journey.
** Wilson, former Super Supremacist Movement leader [[spoiler: and the long lost brother of Terra]] has shown shades of this, wanting to repent for the things he has done in the past.
* AuthorAvatar: Personal Freedom combined himself with a distant relative to create Cousin Mason, He is an off-screen character that Alexandra, Hiro, and Takashi live with for some time as the Order collapses.
* BecomingTheMask: Damien in Book III towards Mitchell and Matthew Evans, where he pretends to be friends with the intent to use them as tools to help navigate his way to the Upper District of Millersville. However he secretly desires connection with others and during their journey comes to genuinely care for them. This culminates in surrendering to the Masked Man to save their sister Mia. By the end he is genuinely stricken with grief over causing Mitchell's apparent death and losing the friendship he wanted.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: There are several in the series, but the most prominent one is Terra, who may seem cute and nice on the outside, [[spoiler: but take care when she becomes the beast, as she will not stop until she has devoured her prey, someone snaps her out of it, or gets killed in the form.]]
** Basically anybody who acts nice, will most likely is one.
* BroughtDownToBadass: By the time of KGA, it is revealed that Hiro has lost his powers to create firearms and fire giant beams from them. However is still capable of holding his own against most opponents, due to retaining his vast experience with guns and training with them.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Compared to his debut in Book II through to Book III and to ANAE/DK he has become more introspective of himself and considerate of those around him, gradually evolving mentally from a vindictive CreepyChild to someone more mature and humane.
* ChildSoldier: Robert, he was in Super Soldier Program, at 15 years old.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: People leave the roleplay, so their characters disappear over time.
* ClusterFBomb: Savior is the main contributor in the series.
* DaddysGirl: Amelia, she readily accepts her "father's" ideas quickly as well.
* DarkMagicalGirl: Myra Krenshaw has some aspects of this and can be considered to the {{magical girl}} aspects of Rika.
* DarkMessiah: Essentially what Dr Mosley had before his death he aspired to attain immortality and lead the world into a new era under his image which he genuinely believed would create a better society. The Path's last leader Michael also had similar delusions of grandeur when he tried to overthrow both Cold Harbor and Millersville in an attempt to create a Superhuman Supremacist society, though towards his defeat by Wilson it became apparent he cared little for the world and more for his own personal power gain.
** Happens again in ANAE Part 2: Dead Kings when Dr Mosley attempts to rewrite the minds of an entire city's population with his own brain patterns in an attempt to put an end to individuality which he perceives as constributing to conflict and justifies his actions through claiming with everyone essentially his mental proxy there would be no more disagreements leading to conflict which would theoretically bring about his perceived new society of peace and prosperity.
* DarkSecret: Terra again and again.
** She has many skulls from people she has killed in Manns Harbor and most characters never learn about her past killings.
** She hides her curse.
** Terra hides that she believes to have caused death of her family.
* DeathIsCheap: Applies to every Immortal that appears in the series, although there are various ways to be {{killed off for real}}.
* DefectiveDetective: Despite having demonstrated himself to be deductive genius, Damien tends to only objectively analyze other individuals and finds it difficult to understand them on a certain emotional level, causing him to unintentionally act insensitive at times. This was demonstrated twice in ANAE when he deduced a waiter was a former baseball player with a promising career whose girlfriend was having an affair with his own father, as well as deducting the physical and psychological nature of the motor accident that Shiloh was involved in, with no regard that he was treading into emotionally sensitive areas. Although he later tried to apologize for this.
* DisappearedDad: Takashi becomes one by the time of KGA to William, who was injured to the point of coma prior to the beginning KGA, and mysteriously disappeared while he was being treated in the hospital.
* DrivenToSuicide: Averted Twice. The first one is when Hiro became a {{death seeker}} near the end, trying to be killed in battle against the Order Forces, he was stopped with the combined efforts of Anisha, Takashi, Alexandra, and a quick hit to the head. The second is during the second book, a depressed Hiro almost killed himself, but was stopped by an {{anguished declaration of love}} from Alexandra.
* DualWielding: Takashi in The Vanishing.
* DistressedDude: Happens to Damien a few times most noticeably towards the end of the Mosley Revival Arc when he is helplessly subdued by Requiem and relies on Jessica to save him even though he tries to stop her from doing so out of fear of her safety.
* DyingMomentOfAwesome: Jal died fighting a Demon Prince, and won.
* {{Dystopia}}: The world setting of Book I.
* EmotionalPowers
** Many supers seem to have abilities that are tied to emotions, a few examples of which are Rose, Terra, Takashi (Just to name a few).
* EnemyMine: Damien is utterly terrified of Quicksilver and she seems to relish the thought of maiming and killing him repeatedly. However when the digital consciousness of their common enemy Dr Mosley threatened to assimilate himself into the populace of Washington City (including themselves) they both teamed up to stop him.
* {{Expy}}:
** ReiAyanamiExpy: Yui, who was copied off of ''Anime/AngelBeats'', basically just a renamed Kanade Tachibana.
** Anisha is an expy of Shiina from ''Angel Beats!'' but with a more integrated backstory.
** Robert was formerly began as an expy of ComicBook/CaptainAmerica (down with the shield and everything), with the exception of being he is more reckless and is younger, but grew out of this in later installments.
** Hunter (Formerly named Wartool) is an expy of ComicBook/{{Deadpool}}, with the lack of breaking the {{fourth wall}}.
* FascistsBedTime: There was one in Manns Harbor.
* FearlessFool: Robert.
* {{Flashback}}: Kinds that show up, PensieveFlashback and TroubledBackstoryFlashback.
* FriendlyRivalry: Wartool and Freedom Arrow.
* FriendlySniper:
** '''Hiro:''' During his group's time at the Battle of Aokigahara, Hiro managed to cause more than 200 casualties on the enemy forces with a scoped rifle, but he's still sociable to and can be friendly to you........ Just as long as you don't piss him off first.
** '''James:''' Helped in Robert's assault on his own troops from a good distance, but was very nice and kind to Robert, Terra, and the rest that seeked shelter from the Order.
* GratuitousJapanese: Rynagria's Characters tend to do this, because he can't speak Japanese himself.
* GreyAndGrayMorality: No one out of the Main Cast in the series can defined as either good or evil, and most tend to sit on the fence in conflicting ideas.
* GuardianEntity:
** Salvia acting as Damien's protector.
** Takashi also has some, both of them dragon's, which can enhance his powers when necessary.
* GunsAkimbo: Another Common tactic of characters, although restricted to the ones who use firearms. Examples are:
** '''Damien''': During his encounter with Salvation, a Tiste Longa trying to kill him, he attempted to overwhelm her with sheer firepower.
** '''Hiro''': While gassing up his car, he used two glock's to fend off "Shadows" with this, before switching to a hand-held minigun.
* HumansAreFlawed: Common theme within the series, is that although they have powers, they are still flawed. Thus making them human.
** Dr Mosley uses this to justify his goals in Dead Kings when he attempts to become a hive mind for every resident in Washington City but refuses to acknowledge the flaws within himself.
* IAmAMonster:
** Terra main character trait.
** Alexandra in Book Two says this trope word for word to describe herself.
* IdolSinger: Neasa Kitsuagan is this, although she can actually sing.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: William has shown shades of this, as he partially inherited some of the doubt on his power from his mother, saying the trope word for word.
* ImmortalImmaturity: Happens to a bunch of Immortals in the series.
** Damien whom despite being over 500 years old is stuck inside a biologically 10 year old body and loves watching cartoons and eating childish treats.
** Anisha on the other hand has a weakness for cute things, but this is because she is an {{expy}}.
* ImmortalLifeIsCheap: Immortal characters are often subject to the most brutal and extreme and sometimes degrading attacks that would otherwise kill mortal humans.
* ItsAllMyFault: Hiro has a massive one after telling Alex, Terra, Rika, and Eiko his involvement in a {{government conspiracy}}, seeing it as his fault for the death of Dano and Takashi's eventual disappearance.
** Damien suffers from massive guilt over Mitchell's comatose state and blames himself for bringing distress to his siblings as well as being unable to save him from an enemy who was originally pursuing Damien. During a hallucination at the Red King's mansion he has a surreal vision of fighting the Masked Man (Mitchell's final opponent before succumbing to a coma from his injuries) where his face is initially revealed as as Damien's own, reflecting his inner turmoil over the incident in which he evidently believes that in a way he was the foe behind the mask and responsible for Mitchell's condition. The vision later distorts into the Masked Man developing three heads reflecting the Evans siblings who taunt and blame for tearing their family apart.
* JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind: Happens to Damien briefly towards the end of Book III when he battles Noire over his guilt surrounding Alfie's near death.
** Happens to Mia Evans when Dr Mosley hijacks her mind and tries to erase her memories and replace them with his own.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: Almost every character in the Roleplay who uses a blade, 75% of the time, it will be a Katana.
** WoodenKatanasAreEvenBetter: Takashi's preferred of using his powers, since while a wooden katana can break bones or even kill under the right circumstances, it is less lethal than steel bladed katana.
* KidsAreCruel:
** Damien when he wants to be, though in recent installments refrains from doing anything he considers malicious and prefers to use his brains to resolve most conflicts.
** Several students in KGA are bullies.
* LaResistance:
** The Super Liberation Front.
** Later on, the Order Security Forces become this as well.
* ParentalAbandonment: Maxwell feels this in response to his parents sending him to live and study in Japan which he considers a punishment and believes that they don't want him around anymore because of his unstable powers.
* PowerLossMakesYouStrong: Happens to Damien when he loses his immortal healing powers he becomes far more vulnerable. The situation is made worse when one of his most powerful enemies seeks to kill him, forcing Damien to overcome the odds and come into better terms with himself.
* MakeSomeNoise: Neasa Kitsuagan's powers are sound based, and her common attack is using a SonicScream.
* MessianicArchetype: Jal, basically scottish/warrior Jesus.
* AndIMustScream: Happens to Damien in Book III after Noire forces him to relive Alphie's traumatic memories.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Takashi has one as a kid in a flashback that he had, nearly killing a man, after said man killed his father.
* NiceGuy: Takashi is this, until you utterly piss him off.
* {{Ninja}}: Anisha has shades of this. The Tamaru household seems to have several {{Ninja Maid}}s in their employment.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Kushiro in disguise, prevents Myra from abducting fellow student "Ama", only to be nearly burnt by an Angry Rose, who suspects him to be the Hunter in question.
* NoPlotNoProblem: This is what happens in Book II, as there was no plot or it was barely touched on until the very end, even then it was not real significant to the rest of the series.
* NonHumanHumanoidHybrid: What the Tiste Hybridas are.
* NotAllowedToGrowUp: Damien remains biologically a 10 year old child despite chronologically being over five centuries old.
* NoTranshumanismAllowed: Essentially what happens every time a scheme of Dr Mosley is foiled.
* OddlyOvertrainedSecurity: The Order had no military, except a militarized police force to use for intimidation.
* OfficialCouple: Several in the series, here are some.
** Alexandra X Hiro
** Terra X Takashi
* OffscreenRebuilding: Most of the world rebuilt in just a year, after the mass rebellion around the globe.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: Savior curses, the in-universe equivalent of an angel, but constantly curses and is abrasive to begin with.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: Salvia cannot be pinned down on which side she's on, as she often tends to switch personalities. Although, she often takes on a more polite persona around people, compared to Savior...
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: See the wikia's vampire [[http://of-men-and-titans.wikia.com/wiki/Vampires page]].
* PlayingWithFire: Alexandra only has the ability to manipulate flames (similar to Pyro from X-Men), with the downside rendering her unconscious if used for an extensive amount of time.
* RageBreakingPoint: Terra's beast mode
* RepressedMemories: Maxwell addresses this while in the hospital when he recalls the possible origin of his powers that related to his accidental involvement in Dr Mosley's ritual to summon Salvia in Book III whereupon which a then seven year old Max inadvertently gazes into the Rending and ends up repressing most of the memory to shield himself from unhuman horrors he witnesses. This repressed memory ended up contributing to his current anxious and slightly paranoid personality.
* RetCon: Plenty of it.
* ShadesOfConflict:
** The main plot drive behind most installments revolves around the mixed attitudes and eventual conflicts between humans and superhumans over deciding which ideology is more justified than the other.
** Damien is often morally conflicted about the decisions he makes, committing acts of both good and evil, this becomes more apparent in Book III when there is more balance between both sides of his actions. His alignment often shifts between various angles of neutrality.
* SherlockScan: Damien briefly uses this for the first time in the beginning of Book III but uses it far more prominently in ANAE.
* ShieldBash: Robert uses this as he attacks his own men.
* ShoutOut: I'm sure there's one somewhere here.....
* StudentCouncilPresident: Rika in the Kyoto Guardian Academy spin-off.
* SuperheroSchool: The Kyoto Guardian Academy spin-off, which focuses on supers trying to better control their powers.
* SuperMode: The majority of the cast has something similar to this.
* ThisIsUnforgivable:
** Terra basically believes this anytime she transforms.
** Takashi says something similar in the Vanishing, after watching one of the interdimensional beings "crush" several people, who saved him from being crushed to death.
* TimeSkip: Each Official Book time skips a year, leaving the readers to guess or be filled in what happened over the time skip.
* UnstoppableRage: In an {{offscreen moment of awesome}}, Takashi finally snaps after all of his men were killed in front of him and his best friend nearly joining the rest of the dead, and manages to annihilate the people who ambushed them.
* WorldOfTechnicolorHair: Since the characters are living in a world full of powered individuals, it's common to have an unnatural hair color, so the usage of hair dye is less common in the characters appearing. Although, dying hair is still probably common.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Occurs multiple times in the series:
** Alexandra tells Hiro something very similar to this twice. Once when he nearly committed suicide in Manns Harbor and again in Cold Harbor.
** Alexandra tells Terra something like this in the ice cream parlour.
** Hiro to Alexandra in the Vanishing.
* YouAreNotAlone: Alex's message to Hiro and Terra.
* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry:
** Terra's beast mode.
** Damien usually maintains a relatively calm and cheerful composure of a typical 10 year old, however is willing to act cold and ruthlessly when the situation calls for it and exhibits a near demonic rage when pushed over to the edge.
