* AsHimself: Simon Cowell, and later the then-current ''American Idol'' judges.
* BaitAndSwitch:
** After Moe closes his bar to focus on his career as a judge, he goes over to his collection of rifles when his customers protest… before flickering the lights to make them all run out.
** Moe at one point seems to be judging a sandcastle contest. But then Jimbo, Dolph and Kearney appear to wreck the castles, at which point it turns out to be a bullying competition, which Dolph wins.
* BitingTheHandHumor: Moe being banned from watching Fox causes business to boom, with even UsefulNotes/RupertMurdoch (as himself, reprising from [[Recap/TheSimpsonsS10E12SundayCruddySunday "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday"]]) coming in to suggest they watch NBC.
* CelebrityParadox: Simon Cowell plays himself. He previously played the character of Henry in Season 15's "Smart and Smarter".
* ClusterBleepBomb: ''Ralph'', of all people, launches into one about Moe.
* GrievousBottleyHarm: When Moe threatens to cut out Simon's voice box with a broken Buzz Cola bottle, Ryan Seacrest has to step in — to remind Moe to hold the label side to the camera.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Mr. Burns called out Moe as “the meanest man in town” and yet, committed far more inhumane in Springfield and beyond.
* {{Jerkass}}:
** Agnes Skinner. While people don't want Moe sitting next to them and put their bags on their seats, Agnes goes as far as to ''burn'' the seat next to her and mocks Moe for it.
** Also Simon Cowell, he essentially guilt-trips Moe into being a more nicer judge on American Idol... and it's revealed he did so solely so Moe wouldn't steal the spotlight and he wouldn't be replaced. Needless to say, even ''Moe himself'' is utterly pissed at this revelation and threatens to rip Simon's throat out with a broken soda bottle as a result. Considering he gave up his ''lifelong'' career for this opportunity, you do understand why Moe would be heartbroken.
* RoleEndingMisdemeanor: In-universe, the aforementioned throat-slitting threat ends up with Moe not only fired from the show, but issued a restraining order so bad he is outright banned from ''watching the network he worked for'' (which ends up an unintentional benefit as after tuning the bar's TV from Fox to NBC, his bar goes from near-barren to almost completely packed.)
