In Bandosian society, Bandos is the [[EvilOverlord top god]]. Everyone else follows his orders without question, no matter where they might lead. [[WithUsOrAgainstUs Everyone not part of the system is an enemy.]]

It's all well and good -- for the Bandosians at least -- except for one little problem: Bandos is dead. Armadyl slew him during ''[[Recap/RuneScapeTheBirdAndTheBeast The Bird and the Beast]]'', smashing his [[OffWithHisHead petrified head]] with Bandos' [[HoistByHisOwnPetard own mace]], and now the Bandosians [[WeCannotGoOnWithoutYou have no ultimate leader]].

Luckily, they have a way to resolve that: a Kyzaj tournament. The Kyzaj is a two-handed melee weapon in the [[RuleOfSymbolism shape of Bandos's symbol]], and all contestants must wield one. Whoever is still standing at the end [[AsskickingLeadsToLeadership will lead the Bandosians]]. By tradition, Zanik must participate, but she's not feeling well after Bandos's death. Therefore, it's up to you to step into the ring, officially as Zanik's trained attack animal.

Of course, it's not going to be that easy. A multitude of powerful opponents stand in your way, up to [[TheDragon General Graardor]] himself. There's twists and turns that you're not going to expect until they happen. And just because the tournament results say something doesn't mean everyone's going to ''agree'' ...

* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: As Bandos was a firm proponent of MightMakesRight, the tournament is convened to determine who among Bandos' mightiest followers is the strongest, and thus shall lead his people. KlingonPromotion is optional.
* AwesomeButImpractical: The ''kyzaj'' is a powerful weapon, but slow and unwieldy.
* DragonAscendant: Bandos is the BigBad of the Dorgeshuun quest line, but he's dead as of "The Bird and the Beast" world event. General Graardor, Bandos's general from the God Wars dungeon, is your FinalBoss opponent.
* FlunkyBoss: Yelps fights alongside a small squad of his personal bodyguards.
* GladiatorGames: The quest revolves around a tournament, where representatives from the various Bandosian races compete in combat on the general principle of AsskickingLeadsToLeadership.
* IfYoureSoEvilEatThisKitten: At the very end, once you have defeated [[ThatOneBoss General Graardor]], the tournament arbiter Zarador throws a captive Zanik into the arena for the PlayerCharacter to spare or slay on the spot.
* RuleOfSymbolism: The ''kyzaj'' weapons wielded by the contestants are shaped like Bandos' own symbol, creating a case of weaponized SigilSpam.
* StarterVillain:
** The very first people for the PlayerCharacter to defeat are a series of [[TheMole human infiltrators]] who plan to poison the tournament contestants.
** The first opponent in the tournament is Yelps, the deposed host of the retired "Squeal of Fortune" {{microtransaction}}s minigame. And yes, you have the option to make him KilledOffForReal (If you spare him, he'll take Grubfoot's old place as assistant to the Goblin Village generals).
* TookALevelInBadass: In the God Wars dungeon, Graardor fights barehanded, and he's a pretty tough boss, but is still considered the weakest of the generals. In this quest, he uses a weapon, and he's ''much'' tougher.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Zanik reveals that she is slowly dying after Bandos was slain, as the dead god's life-force was linked to her own. She does eventually suffer death, either at the player's hands or on Yu'biusk after the quest, depending on the final choice made.
