[=BoJack=] agrees to help Hollyhock find her mother, which proves to be difficult considering how much he got around in the '90s. Princess Carolyn and Ralph try to conceive. Mr. Peanutbutter's stance on fracking drives a wedge between him and Diane.

!!Tropes:
* BookEnds: Mr. Peanutbutter and Diane's storyline begins with them trying to get it on, but [[TheLoinsSleepTonight it doesn't happen]]. At the end, they have passionate angry sex.
* CallBack: PC and Ralph are clients of the albino gyno rhino [[SubvertedRhymeEveryOccasion wine-addict]] that she went on a date with in Season 3.
* CoolPeopleRebelAgainstAuthority: Diane seems hesitant about writing a blog concerning fracking, since Mr. Peanutbutter is running for governor. Her boss, Stefani, advises her to go through with it because their intimacy is on hold.
-->'''Stefani:''' I always say, "you gotta do you". And if he's doing ''him'', then who's doing ''you''? Because right now, it seems like ''no one's'' doing you.
* HaughtyHmph: After having a spat with [=BoJack=], Hollyhock leaves on her own to find all the women [=BoJack=] slept with in TheNineties to see if any of them is her mother. When BJ still manages to find her, Holly just "hmphs" in frustration and tries to leave, only to give in later.
* LikeParentLikeChild: Subverted, as [=BoJack=] initially follows in his mother and grandfather's footsteps of being disgusted when your child is crying, but then he tries to comfort her, if poorly. It makes her feel better.
* MakingLoveInAllTheWrongPlaces: Princess Carolyn and Ralph are arrested by Officer Fuzzyface for speeding while they are trying to rush home and conceive their child. With time almost up, they decide to have sex in the back of Fuzzyface's cruiser. Ralph informs PC that his criminal lawyer is the best, which gets them out of the obvious hot water they'd be in.
* ParentalSexualitySquick: Poor Hollyhock is first witness to her supposed father's method of distraction for former lovers, especially a LoonyFan; some rough loving that apparently has lasted more than 5 minutes (new record!). This is mitigated by the fact they're doing it behind a couch but that's little comfort for the poor girl now.
* PlotParallel: All three storylines concern the sex lives of the characters.
* RageBreakingPoint: After spending the season trying her best to pretend to be supportive of Mr. Peanutbutter under the grounds that she doesn't believe he'd actually become governor, the fracking issue causes her to call him out and write an article explicitly attacking him.
-->'''Diane''': This is not about ''us''. I don't want ''you'' to be governor because you would be ''bad'' at it because you don't stand for ''anything''.
* ShoutOut: [=BoJack=] tries to make a joke about Creator/JoshRadnor, who starred in ''Series/HowIMetYourMother''. Fittingly, this is an episode about trying to find Hollyhock's mother.
* RightThroughTheWall: Diane and Mr. Peanutbutter have audible sex so loud that it bothers a nearby coworker.
* RulesOfTheRoad: Meow Meow Fuzzy Face pulls over Ralph for going 36 in a 35 zone.
* RunningGagged: When Hollyhock mentions 1999 to [=BoJack=], we get start segueing into what appears to be the start of [[Recap/BojackHorsemanS1E08TheTelescope yet]] [[Recap/BojackHorsemanS3E02TheBojackHorsemanShow another]] extended flashback sequence complete with "1999" song only for Hollyhock to abruptly put a stop to it by saying "Actually I don't need a whole long story, just get to the point".
* SpottingTheThread: While visiting Marcy, Hollyhock notices that she's slim in a picture from August 2000, a month before Hollyhock was born, so she's likely not her mother...except Hollyhock then gets distracted by wondering why she was wearing a summer dress to the premiere of a movie called "Autumn in New York". Once equally distracted [=BoJack=] asks her why would anyone release a movie called "Autumn in New York" in summer, Hollyhock starts giving a long irrelevant explanation about it.
* SlapSlapKiss: Seems like all this fighting and bickering between Mr. Peanutbutter and Diane helped to bring the fire back to their sex life...
* StylisticSuck: The 1999 flashback does not have the same attention to background jokes as the others did. It has more generic ones such as the number "1999" everywhere, a billboard just saying "Relevant Billboard", a building called "Flashback Joke!", and another billboard advertising a show called ''It's Another Flashback.''
* UnusualEuphemism: "Frack me, Mr. Peanutbutter! Frack me!"
* WhatTheHellHero: Hollyhock calls out [=BoJack=] on his flippant attitude towards his past hookups, pointing out that any of these women could potentially be her mother.
* WouldHitAGirl: Subverted. When Mr. Peanutbutter and Diane were about to beat up each other, they end up having angry sex.
