* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe: A non-sexual version. While the mother is confessing that she did it, Clive gets distracted by Bazzio and leaves. After a few minutes, she asks Liv (who is still at the table), "Don't you want to know the rest?" Liv snaps back to reality and passes her a notepad.
* BlandNameProduct: [=UFreightEze=] (run by Ty Griss): a Seattle-based web delivery service named after a famous river that is definitely not the Amazon.
* BackForTheDead: Tanner makes his only on-screen appearance this season, so Blaine can murder him for losing the zombie cures.
* TheBusCameBack: Mr. Boss returns, seeking to hijack control of the brain smuggling business from Blaine.
* CelebrityParadox: Don E mentioned having watched the One Tree Hill finale. Robert Buckley (Major) was a regular on One Tree Hill for the last three seasons.
* ContinuityNod: One general notes how General Mills was gung-ho on nuking Seattle but backing off. Mills is hiding that his daughter is now a zombie in Seattle as shown last season.
* ConvenientlyUnverifiableCoverStory: When Blaine's house catches on fire, the D.A. accuses of him of hiding any evidence of his crimes. Blaine points out how he's "the most hated man in Seattle" and thus anyone could have torched the place.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Rather than focus on Liv and Clive investigating the murder of the matchmaker, the episode instead puts the spotlight on Blaine in jail and Don E handling things.
* TheDogBitesBack: Watching Blaine murder a friend for a mistake is the final straw for Don E to turn on him and work with Mr. Boss.
* EnemyCivilWar: Mr. Boss spends the episode undermining Blaine (and we learn that he's been working on it for some time).
* EurekaMoment: Ravi mentioning how good a delivery service is gets Major to realize it can be a great way to get brains into Seattle quickly.
* IdiotBall: Blaine can't believe his underling threw the zombie cure, the thing he was sent to retrieve, out the window of a car into a river when the cops pulled him over.
* IHaveNoSon: Dolly Durkins says this to Murphy, her son, due to him being a zombie. Given how few zombies are that way ''consensually'', her blinding hatred and disownment is both embarrassing and heartbreaking.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: As Liv is about to feast on the victim's brains, Blaine is shown in his cell thinking "you know how it goes, she eats the brains, investigates the murder, blah, blah, blah."
* NuclearOption: Discussed by the Pentagon with it noted how nuking a city that still has hundreds of thousands of American citizens won't go over well with the public.
* OutGambitted: Boss and Don E figured since they were the only source for brains, Major would have no choice but to work with them. They don't expect Major to strike a deal with a delivery service for brains and force them into a lower price for their side deal. Boss has to give credit to Major for pulling this off. Adding to the gambit, we see beforehand that the delivery service ''can't'' actually provide the brains, but merely letting everyone ''think'' they can is all they need to ruin the monopoly Mr Boss and Don E had.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Al gives a wicked one to Blaine, revealing she was playing him all along and how he's nothing but a "daddy's boy" and two-bit thug. She adds in how Peyton told her she considered Blaine "My biggest embarrassment."
* TheReveal:
** Al is Mr. Boss' niece who was working to bring Blaine down for Boss to take over the brains operation. In retrospect, the GenderBlenderName ought to have been a clue that they were connected...
** Murphy turns out to be Dolly Durkins' son who she cut out of her life when he became a zombie.
* ThemeNaming: Both Ty Griss (Tigris) and [=UFreightEze=] (Euphrates) are rivers in Mesopotamia.
