!!Tropes featured in the episode:
* ADayInTheLimelight: Paul gets focused on in this episode.
* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: Zoe kisses Owen on the forehead before leaving.
* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe: Out of loneliness and sexual dissatisfaction, Grace dresses up and makes roast for Judd. When he realizes he accidentally rebuffed this advance, he repays the favor by making her osso bucco on another night.
* AssholeVictim: The man with CPPD is instantly killed by his own DeadlyGas while knocking back Nancy, Tim, and Michelle. She even lampshades this to Owen when he shows up to get them out:
--> '''Michelle:''' He won’t mind, he’s dead.
* BaitAndSwitch: The usual 9-1-1 sound bite plays at first, with a group of firefighters reporting high temperatures… then cuts to a group of similarly-built men starting a dance number on a bar runway.
* BestedAtBowling: Josie easily beats Paul on their bowling date.
* BigNo: What yelled out by one of the ladies involved in the strip club fight, when Owen has to cut out her $250 tiara from her hair, 3 days before her wedding.
* BloodFromTheMouth: Pretty much what’s going to happen when you get a tiara impaled through your cheek.
* BridalCarry: After he makes her osso bucco (which turns out to be her favorite) for dinner, Judd carries Grace like this to the bedroom.
* CatFight: What essentially happens at the strip club, between one group of ladies and another. Not that we see it, we only see the outcome.
* CrazyPrepared: When TK accompanies Owen to his chemo treatment, he has a whole backpack full of items Owen might need: peppermint oil, ginger chews, saltines, and headphones, just to name a few.
* DancePartyEnding: TK and Carlos invite Paul with them to a club in Austin to take the latter’s mind off of his failed date, where the three men end their night with a hangout and a dance.
* DeadlyGas: Accidently made by Michelle when treating the HeManWomanHater, a chemical reaction was made by the combination of the man’s pre-existing arthritis medication, putting him on O2 and then using the defibrillator.
* EatingTheEyeCandy: TK is seen enjoying the sight of the half-dressed male strippers.
* FacialHorror: A platinum tiara is impaled through a woman’s cheek.
* FamilyFriendlyStripper: A male equivalent, none of the studs go the full monty.
* FlashbackEcho: The fire at the bull semen factory causes Judd to have flashbacks to the 126 fertilizer factory fire.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Wayne lets Owen know that the medication that they’re on can cause the inability to perform in the bedroom. Owen insists that there is nothing wrong with him and everything works fine. The next time he tries to have sex, Owen can’t get it up, he insists to his partner that it’s never happened to him before.
* FreakOut: TK freaks out a little bit when he attends his dad’s chemo for the first time.
* ForgottenAnniversary: When Judd comes home and finds Grace dressed up and serving roast on a Monday, he thinks that he’s forgotten an important date.
* GretzkyHasTheBall: TK has no idea how bowling works and thinks that a score of 54 is good. Apparently kids bowl in the 60’s when they go bowling.
* HeManWomanHater: Michelle and her team attend to one of these after he gets hit in the head with a water bottle at a protest he was leading outside a women’s shelter.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: One of the ladies at the strip club gets a platinum tiara impaled through her cheek.
* InsistentTerminology: The instigator in the strip club fight insists that she is wearing a ''tiara'', not a crown.
* InternalReveal:
** TK tells Mateo and Paul about his failed proposal.
** Paul reveals to Josie that he's trans. She doesn't take it well.
* TheLoinsSleepTonight: Owen has two separate discussions with Wayne and his GP about how his own cancer treatment will have consequences— with his sexual drive, though Owen is quick to deny that anything is wrong with his “little soldier.” Cue his meeting with Zoe…
* MistakenForGay: Zoe thinks that Owen is gay after he lets her know that best way to get rid on dark circles under her eyes.
--> '''Owen:''' So Well, um, with your skin tone, I wouldn't bother with concealer. I would go right to the spoons.\
'''Zoe:''' Spoons?\
'''Owen:''' Yeah, spoons. You know, you put a spoon in the freezer overnight, and in the morning, you rub it here.'' (points to under his eyes)'' It reduces the fluid under your eye, and the cold takes away the puffiness. You look supple and fresh.\
'''Zoe:''' Does that really work?\
'''Owen:''' Proof's in the pudding. Would you believe I'm coming off a 24-hour shift?\
'''Zoe:''' You're a doctor?\
'''Owen:''' Firefighter.\
'''Zoe:''' So, wow. You're perfect. Well, why don't they make straight ones like you?\
'''Owen:''' Um.
** Inverted with Wayne, who initially thinks TK is straight. When TK corrects him, he simply says, “Aw hell, I don’t judge.”
* NervousTics: While accompanying Owen to his IV chemo appointment and waiting on him, TK bounces his foot up and down in anxiety.
* NextThingTheyKnew: After Zoe mistakes Owen for being gay, he proves her wrong and they end up having sex, (or at least attempt to). When they have a second date at a sushi bar, they decide to try again.
* RescueRomance: After Paul helps Josie after a fight at a strip club, they strike a flirty texting relationship and end up going on a date. They only have one date, after Paul reveals that he’s trans.
* RomanticWingman: TK is this to Paul, hyping him up and helping to convince Paul to go on a date with Josie.
* SexlessMarriage: Grace and Judd haven’t had sex since the 126 tragedy, which was 4 months ago.
* ShirtlessScene: The opening scene is at male strip club, all five strippers get down to their underwear, before a fight breaks out between two ladies watching the show.
* TensionCuttingLaughter: Two instances that call forward to the erotic humor in the episode:
** The metaphorical manner in which Wayne explains how the chemotherapy often causes cancer patients like himself and Owen to have decreased sex drive causes TK to snicker uncontrollably in the background.
** Grace’s reveal to Owen that the factory stores… “hot barrels of bull stuff” that are propelling themselves out the windows snaps Judd out of his flashback and sends him into a hysterical laughing fit at the absurdity.
--> '''Judd:''' I’m just try’na picture my obituary.
* TransRelationshipTroubles: Paul is worried about going on a date with Josie, due to the fact that she doesn’t know that he’s trans and he’s afraid of how she’ll react. The date goes well and Josie really likes Paul, but after Paul reveals that he’s trans, Josie admits unfortunately that that is something that she can't get past. To her credit, she is quite apologetic about how she reacted the night before after their date.
