The Legends are being hunted down on orders from Hank, who wants them out of the picture before they blow the lid on his scheme to use the fugitives as weapons.

!!Tropes:

* ApologeticAttacker: When Nora understands that Nate and the time agents aren't going to believe that she didn't kill Hank, she says she's sorry before knocking them out with her magic.
* BerserkButton: Mona's is pressed when a Time Agent insults Konane and it makes her angry enough to transform.
* BrutalHonesty: Deconstructed. The Legends have to stop Nixon from being honest to avoid a breakdown of the international order since his refusal to lie blew up diplomacy. He swallowed a roach belonging to the Egyptian Goddess of Truth, which throughout the rest of the episode continues to make people spill their (sometimes hilarious, sometimes serious) secrets.
* TheBusCameBack: Nora Darhk returns, not having appeared since Episode 6.
* CallForward: Hank's black ops with the fugitives foreshadows what A.R.G.U.S. will do to metahumans in a few decades.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Neron slowly and agonizingly drains the life from Hank while he begs for mercy.
* TheDeadHaveNames: Mona becomes angry at a Time Bureau agent who doesn't refer to Konane by his name, instead insulting him.
* EtTuBrute: Subverted. Hank is annoyed that Nate has been helping the Legends, but not crushed. In the end, he even lets the Legends go since Nate makes it clear that if he has to choose between his dad and the Legends, he'll pick the Legends every time.
* ForgetfulJones: Gary, by his own admission, constantly forgets his passwords. Apparently, the memory flashers have some side-effects.
* HeelFaceDoorSlam:
** Nixon decides to be a better person, but history can't have that, so he gets neuralyzed back to the way he was before the adventure of the Legends.
** More seriously, Hank tries to break his deal with Neron and gets the life sucked out of him for his trouble.
* HiddenDepths:
** Mick's a huge Creator/RobertRedford fan and an indie film buff. Who knew?
** Under the influence of the Truth Bug, Ray admits to some pretty deep existential issues. And to not believing that Han shot first.
** Hank gets a surprisingly humanizing moment, remembering about his mom who did her best to be both mom and dad without his dad around.
* HorrifyingTheHorror: Nora Darhk, who previously acted as a vessel of Mallus, is absolutely horrified by Neron.
* IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight: Attempted by Sara towards Mona, but it doesn't work since she is in control. Sara then apologizes to Mona and promises to always be there for her, which succeeds in cooling her down.
* InternalReveal: Mona keeps trying to tell Sara how she's been scratched by Konane and now transforms into a creature like he was, but she keeps being brushed off. Sara regrets this when she sees her transformed and realizing what she was trying to tell her.
* KnightOfCerebus: The instant Neron appears, all the humor in the episode is replaced by horror. He cements this status at the end of the episode by cruelly (and slowly) killing Hank.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Hank gives his life for Nate, just like Hank's own father gave his life to save Nate in 1970.
* LivingLieDetector: Because the scarab tries to enter anyone that tells a lie, it acts as this. Noticeably, when Hank tells Nate that he can't tell him about the secret black ops project but that he's doing it all for him, the scarab doesn't go to him.
* MistakenForMurderer: Nate finds Nora hovering over Hank's dead body, not realizing that she did her best to save him.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Sara is horrified with herself after the Truth Bug makes her lash out at Mona, and again when she realizes that Mona tried to admit to now being a wolf creature like Konane only for Sara to brush her off.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Mona trying to give the Truth Bug some air results in flying around and constantly being swallowed by people.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: Neron doesn't try any sweet talk or bargaining when Hank tells him he wants out of their deal; he just kills him then and there.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Hank finally finds himself wrapped up in the Legends' insanity by commandeering a sheriff's car, hat, and shades and acting like he's having the time of his life.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: Nora, feeling Neron's presence, breaks out of her cell and rushes to Hank's office, arriving right after Hank is killed. And more importantly, right before Nate walks in to see her standing over the corpse, leading him to believe she's the killer.
* OhCrap:
** The Legends when they remember when they forgot about Charlie, who's stuck back at the D.C. hospital when her shape-shifting powers are still on the fritz. In fact they do it twice.
** Nora is able to feel Neron's presence and it seriously freaks her out.
* OrificeInvasion: The scarab enters the mouth of anyone telling a lie to feed, forcing them to tell the truth. Sara tries to prevent this by covering her mouth, but the bug just goes through her nostril instead. Thankfully, Constantine's magic can pull it out.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Hank wants to stop the project for Nate's sake. Neron kills him for it.
* RoadTripEpisode: The Legends are forced on the run and have to commandeer an RV to escape.
* RunningGag: The Legends sedating Nixon.
* ShipTease: Under the influence of the Truth Bug, Nate admits to being open to the idea of a relationship with Zari.
* SomethingWeForgot: The Legends forget about Charlie (who had to impersonate Nixon). Twice!
* SpannerInTheWorks: Neron puts a damper on Nate and Zari's plan to discreetly investigate Hank by calling him and informing him of what Nate's been doing.
* ShoutOut:
** John describes stuffing the kidnapped Richard Nixon into a closet as "putting Dick in a box".
** Hank mistakenly calls Gideon Siri and Alexa.
* StatusQuoIsGod: PlayedForLaughs. Nixon decides, after everything with the Truth Bug, that he should become a better and more honest man. But, since history needs him to be a liar, the Legends memory zap him back to normal.
* StringTheory: Parodied; Gary tries to make a diagram of suspicious activity Hank's involved in, but ends up with a lot of totally random and irrelevant details from Hank's life, getting nowhere, accidentally knitting a scarf, realizing he's in over his head, and going to Nora for help.
* TakeThat: It's pretty clear that the producers have a very low opinion of Richard Nixon.
* TruthSerum: The scarab acts as this feeding on lies, so whomever it is inside can only tell the truth. And it will jump from host to host as they tell lies.
* TyrantTakesTheHelm: Ava takes a leave of absence after her and Sara's breakup, so now Hank's in charge. And his first order of business is to hunt the Legends down before they expose his scheme.
* WhamEpisode: Neron kills Hank, and Nora is left to take the blame for it.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Subverted and PlayedForLaughs twice; Sara and Ray realize, first when they're on the road, and again when all is said and done, that they forgot Charlie at the Watergate. The first time, there's a cut to Charlie pacing in Nixon's hotel room, angrily muttering about her friends leaving her behind.
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: No-one knows it (yet), but Nora screamed for help and forcibly broke out of her cell in the hopes of saving Hank from Neron; any lingering doubts the audience might have about her HeelFaceTurn are certainly gone.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: John gives Sara a brief one after realizing how much she is in pain due to Ava breaking up with her and the situation in general.
