Go To

In space, duck-like aliens attack and conquer a planet, transforming its inhabitants into zombie-like creatures. Some time later, Paperinik meets similar creatures while patrolling the city and his old arsenal proves to be ineffective. He soon discovers that an invasion of Earth is imminent, and he is going to need help... maybe he will find something in the tower his uncle asked him to guard? Or someone?

* ActionPrologue
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: The aliens the Evronians attack at the beginning. We'll later learn they are called Xerbians.
* BadassBoast: Parodied when Paperinik is trying to defend Paperilla Starry from the coolflames and none of his weapons are working.
-->Paperinik:"Don't worry:when the game gets tough...I wish I was somewhere else!"
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: The cast of "Patemi" seems composed by fairly regular people. In a future issue we will discover their many quirks.
** Towards the end of the issue, Paperinik is terrified at the idea that one of the Evronians is dead. In future issues, he will have no problems seeing Xadhoom kill them en masse or in killing them by himself.
* DamselInDistress: Stella Paperilli, who has to be saved twice by Paperinik. Hey, at least he gets a SmoochOfVictory out of it.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The Coolflames display fire-based powers, something that is never shown again.
* Foreshadowing:
** Lyla's invulnerability to the Evron Gun.
** The incident that caused Angus to flee from New Zealand.
* GeniusLoci: One flat out states to be the Ducklair Tower. It becomes a ChekhovsGun in the finale when he uses the building to help Paperinik fight the Evronians.
* GonnaNeedMoreX: Paperinik admits his old tech won't suffice and he needs to use Ducklair's inventions.
* JustBetweenYouAndMe: Agron takes time to explain who the Evronians are and what they do to Sean Leaduck. Justified since it will make him more scared, allowing the aliens to harvest more energy.
* ImpossiblyCoolWeapon: The Extransformer makes its first appearance: it can fly, transform into a boomerang, stop individual time and has an extendable punch. A lot of new gadgets will be added as the series progresses.
** Also, it has a beam that forcibly teleports the target somewhere else... But never works.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: One candidly admits to have never heard of Paperinik before, something the hero lampshades.
* IntelligenceEqualsIsolation: One says the reason why Ducklair built him was to have someone smart enough to talk to.
** It's implied this is also the reason the A.I. chose to help Paperinik. He even lampshades it.
-->Paperinik:"Loneliness is heavy even for artificial intelligences, eh?"
* MoodWhiplash: We go to a planet falling under the claws of an evil empire to... a group of fans wanting an autograph of their favourite actress. And then go back again to aliens invaders.
* RRatedOpening PG Rated Opening: The first pages are dedicated to showing an alien takeover.
* PlayingWithFire: The coolflames, strangely: it's EarlyInstallmentWeirdness since they never do it again.
* VillainTakesAnInterest: The Evronian commander considers Paperinik odd enough to suspend the punishment for Agron if he manages to capture him.
* TheWorfEffect: Paperinik's old weapons aren't even enough to stop the Coolflames.
* TookALevelInBadass: After being powerless against the Coolflames, by the end of the issue Paperinik can defeat a whole Evronian squad. Downplayed, since he still needs One's help.
* WorstNewsJudgementEver: Angus rearranges the video to made it look like Paperinik was helping the Evronians.
