Among all the superhero action in ''Franchise/TheIncredibles'' lies the dark, dangerous, and downright sinister plots that make this franchise a little grimmer than the average Pixar film.

* In ''Literature/ATwistedTale'', ''Suddenly Super'' which is an alternate retelling of the first film's second half events showing what would happen if an important event in the film ends up diverging (in this case, Dash not sneaking off to follow his mom on the plane) is downright disturbing (and the first film was already DarkerAndEdgier), showing what would happen if ''Syndrome'' had gotten his hands on Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack and with no Bob or Helen around to save them, with ''Violet'' herself actually turning ''evil'' at one point due to being under his abusive thumb rather than her lovable parents.
** Violet getting herself brutally injured during her "superhero" training against her boss's Omnidroids that nearly breaks her. Her brother Dash doesn't even lay a single hit during his training due to being even more inexperienced and nearly dies.
** Violet herself is downright ''scary'' (showing that this Violet is NOT the same lovable redeemable teen) going mad with the obsession of saving her family by becoming normal by any means necessary by trying to ''force'' Dash to remove his powers with the stolen Nullifier that leads to them fighting (she previously considered killing herself prior to the confrontation with the Mastermind, only for Dash to put a stop to it), which causes Dash to outright ''disown'' her. Showing how far and desperate Violet is willing to go for her perfect dream of no more superpowers. It takes a very strong WhatTheHellHero talk from Mirage to snap Violet back to reality crying over what she's done and how much her mom's strict parenting has hurt her.
** And then there's Violet undergoing a dark change as she's being subjugated to a forceful FaceHeelTurn against her will where she becomes a ''supervillainess'' via Syndrome's evil making machine and is downright nightmarish for readers who grew up with her. Dash and Mirage are outright begging her to stray from this path and resist it but they're too late as she emerges from the machine, now cackling evily like a madwoman. Syndrome then orders the now evil Violet to kill Mirage (when he realized the machine was faulty on Mirage) and she begins doing so by placing a Force Field around Mirage and begins shrinking it intending to crush her to death and Dash is forced to fight his now evil sister and ultimately defeats her and knocks her out, saving Mirage. Which we then find Violet inside her own ''mindscape'' struggling between her good self and her evil self. Her evil self is downright scary as she bullies her shy meekly adorable good counterpart who's crying, only for Violet to finally realize what makes a Super a Super and it's the loving good times with her family and her crush Tony that redeems her as her good self literally beats her evil self until she vanishes, upon waking up, Violet breaks down crying over what she nearly did but thanks Dash for saving her.
** Speaking of her mom, seeing the great Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone, badly bloodied and injured during the climax and then the dreaded shot as Violet and Dash arrive to back him up (Dash is clearly putting on an act as to not suffer Syndrome's wrath, but Violet appears to have fully turned evil by this point...then she turns her evil gaze at ''Syndrome'' who immediately gets attacked by her when Dash steals back the Nullifier), realizing he's lost, Syndrome flees.
