Polysics are a Japanese Music band originally founded by Hiroyuki Hayashi ("Hiro") in 1997. Hiro was heavily inspired by the American band as well as Japanese bands such as P-Model and Music/YellowMagicOrchestra. To borrow a quote from Website/ThatOtherWiki: "The band has been noted for their extremely energetic live performances and their wild gimmicky outfits, notably their trademark orange boiler suits, with a simple 'P' stamped on them, and their straight-bar sunglasses."

They did the intro and ending songs for Manga/CellsAtWorkCodeBlack.

* BulletTime: Parodied in one of the videos for "I My Me Mine."
* CloserToEarth: Recently-retired keyboardist Kayo often came across as this, especially in comparison to Hiro's zany antics.
* CoolShades: The band members often wear unusual rectangular shades as seen in the page image.
* CoverVersion: They've done a half-cover of Music/Styx's "Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto," in that they took the intro and the Japanese lyrics and made up their own music to go with it. They've also covered "My Sharona," "Wild One," "Psycho Therapy," and a few other songs in live performances (especially by Music/Devo).
* Engrish: Most of their English cover songs.
* GratuitousEnglish: Many of their songs are peppered throughout with random English phrases and degenerate into Word Salad Lyrics, and the titles tend to go into Word Salad Title territory.
* HotBlooded: Hiro comes across as this.
* LonersAreFreaks: "DNA Junction." Maybe.
* Rotoscoping: Their video for "Electric Surfing Go Go" uses this.
* SomethingSomethingLeonardBernstein: Consisting as they do of mostly Japanese, Engrish, and gibberish, many of their songs are prone to this, even to some native Japanese speakers.
--> dfkhdhkhfdaljfjahfhdjksafhdajk EINSTEIN MUST DIE! - what many people heard on the first verse of New Wave JacketProper lyrics: Junjyo kinishite utaitsuzuketemo AIMAINA STYLE
* SpellingSong: "Polysics or Die."
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Fumi and Kayo, prior to the latter leaving.
* WordSaladLyrics: Just take a look at the lyrics for New Wave Jacket and see if you can make any sense of the mishmash of English and Japanese.
** WordSaladTitle is also present in the title of some of their songs. For example: "New Wave Jacket," and "Colecanth is Android."
