4	Joseph "Satch" Satriani (born July 15, 1956) is an [[{{Instrumentals}} instrumental rock]] and ProgressiveRock guitarist from Westbury, New York. He is an immensely influential man and the teacher of other guitar legends including Music/SteveVai and [[Music/{{Metallica}} Kirk Hammett]]. He is the guitarist for Music/{{Chickenfoot}}. He sued Music/{{Coldplay}} for [[https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%22If+I+Could+Fly%22+%22Viva+La+Vida%22&aq=f plagiarism of his 2004 song]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FclrtPUquhQ "If I Could Fly"]] for use in their 2008 Grammy winning "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5TNK-TvIcI Viva La Vida]]." Note that he sued ''before'' Coldplay won the Grammy. The case was settled out of court.

6	In 1993, he was a temporary member of Music/DeepPurple, after Ritchie Blackmore abruptly left in the middle of a tour. He declined an offer to join as a permanent member after the tour.
