* ''Manga/BananaFish'', which originally ran from 1985 to 1994, didn't get an anime adaptation until 2018; the release of the anime was meant to commemorate creator Akimi Yoshida's 40th anniversary of her debut as a manga artist.
* On the ''Franchise/{{Bleach}}'' 20th Anniversary livestream, a couple projects were announced. First, the one-shot SpinOff ''Manga/BurnTheWitch2018'', originally written for Weekly Shonen Jump's 50th anniversary project, woulg get serialized and an anime movie in 2020. After that, the ''Bleach'' anime will return after ending in 2012 to adapt the final StoryArc of the manga, the Thousand-Year Blood War.
* When ''Manga/CaseClosed'' reached 1000 episodes, it launched a two part remake of “Moonlight Sonata”, one of the series’ early cases that was very popular among fans.
* On April 10, 2014, for the tenth anniversary of ''Literature/ACertainMagicalIndex'' and his debut as a writer, Creator/KazumaKamachi made ten announcements about his various works, including a MassiveMultiplayerCrossover between his novels, and an anime adaptation of ''Literature/HeavyObject''.
* For their 15th anniversary, Creator/{{CLAMP}} released a twelve volume book entitled ''Clamp no Kiseki'' which contains summaries of featured series, interviews with Clamp and friends of Clamp, artwork, and exclusive new short comics. It also contains limited edition chess pieces featuring the characters from various Clamp works.
* ''Anime/{{Diebuster}}'' was made to commemorate Creator/StudioGainax's 20th anniversary.
* ''Franchise/{{Digimon}}'' had ''Anime/DigimonAdventureTri'', a sequel series to ''Anime/DigimonAdventure'' announced on August 1, 2014, 15 years to the day the seven main characters were brought to the Digital World.
* ''Anime/DragonBallZKai'' was released in Japan in 2009 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of ''Anime/DragonBallZ''. Five years later in 2014, after the series had previously ended with the Cell saga, with one arc left to be redone, it was brought back to do the final arc, just in time for its 25th Anniversary. That same year, Americans got to join in on the celebration: not only was it announced that ''Kai'' would now be airing uncut on Creator/{{Toonami}}, but Funimation announced that they were giving the ''[[Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods Battle of Gods]]'' film an English dub and giving it a limited run in theaters.
* ''Manga/GeGeGeNoKitaro'' premiered its usual once a decade anime adaptation (the sixth) in 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first anime adaptation airing (which was in 1968).
* The ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'' franchise has had several over the course of its long life:
** The 10th anniversary was marked by the ''All That Gundam'' special and the OAV ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundam0080WarInThePocket Gundam 0080]]''.
** The 15th anniversary was celebrated with ''[[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam G Gundam]]'', the first AU Gundam series.
** The 20th anniversary saw the "Gundam Big Bang Project", which included movie versions of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamWingEndlessWaltz'' and ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamThe08thMSTeam'', culminating with ''Anime/TurnAGundam'' and the live-action movie, ''Film/GSaviour''[[note]]This also includes the ''VideoGame/GSaviour'' game, but only if you lived/are able to import the game back in 2000[[/note]].
** The 25th anniversary saw the ''[[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Zeta Gundam]]'' movie trilogy (which also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the series), ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Gundam SEED Destiny]]'' (which was itself a reimagining of ''Zeta Gundam''), and ''Anime/{{Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO}}: The Hidden One Year War''.
** The 30th anniversary was celebrated with the ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundam00 Gundam 00]]'' film, ''[[Anime/Gundam00AWakeningOfTheTrailblazer A wakening Of The Trailblazer]]'', the first feature-length Gundam film in 19 years. It also featured a special animation showing all the protagonist Gundams in action together. And of course, they built a life-size statue of the original.
** The 35th anniversary was commemorated with three major releases: the anime adaptation of ''Manga/MobileSuitGundamTheOrigin''; a new series called ''Anime/GundamReconguistaInG'', Creator/YoshiyukiTomino's first original Gundam work since ''Anime/TurnAGundam''; and the final episode of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn''.
** The 40th anniversary celebrated by anouncing a TV airing for the ''[[Manga/MobileSuitGundamTheOrigin Gundam: The Origin]]'' OVA series, a compilation movie series for ''[[Anime/GundamReconguistaInG Reconguista in G]]'', [[Anime/GundamBuildDiversReRise a sequel series]] for ''Anime/GundamBuildDivers'', the launch of the ''SD Gundam World'' series with ''Anime/SDGundamWorldSangokuSoketsuden'', a collaboration with Creator/LegendaryPictures to make a Live-Action ''Gundam'' movie, and an animated movie trilogy based off of ''Literature/MobileSuitGundamHathawaysFlash''.
** The 45th anniversary will be celebrated by the following:
*** The '''Gundam GWX 30th Anniversary Project''', which will celebrate for the next three years, the 30th anniversaries of ''[[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam G Gundam]]'', ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing Gundam Wing]]'', and ''[[Anime/AfterWarGundamX Gundam X]]''.
** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'' celebrated its 10th anniversary with the release of the [[AnimationBump HD Remasters]] of both ''Gundam SEED'' and ''Gundam SEED Destiny''.
** For ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED''[='s=] 20th anniversary, Creator/BandaiNamcoEntertainment announced the ''Mobile Suit Gundam SEED PROJECT ignited'' initiative alongside the opening of the life-size Freedom Gundam statue in UsefulNotes/{{Shanghai}}, with said initiative including ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDFreedom'', a sequel movie to ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny SEED Destiny]]'' (which has been stuck in DevelopmentHell for the longest time), a Manga (Titled ''Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ECLIPSE''), and a Video Game (Title currently undisclosed).
** The 10th anniversary of ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundam00 Gundam 00]]'' was met with the announcement of the PG version of Gundam Exia and a limited re-release of the whole series on Youtube.
* ''Manga/HanaKimi'' was announced to be getting an anime adaptation that would premiere in the year of the 20th anniversary of the manga's ending.
* ''Manga/MonthlyGirlsNozakiKun'' has done two:
** Square Enix celebrated the release of the 100th chapter by arranging the manga's male main characters and [[{{Bifauxnen}} Kashima]] into a male idol unit, with fans voting on who the center would be. Mikoshiba won, and a special character coat hanger based off of him was given a limited release. At the same time, the Anime Paradise Cafe in Ikebukuro temporarily added several items based off of the cast to its menu, and a few new pieces of [[TheMerch merch]] were sold.
** For the tenth anniversary, Creator/IzumiTsubaki designed an entire [[AlternateUniverse AU]] based off of DetectiveFiction, featuring the main boys as employees at Nozaki's Detective Agency, the main girls ([[MyFriendsAndZoidberg and Mayu]]) as four clients who come to them for help, and the editors as [[FriendOnTheForce police detectives who come to the private eyes for help]]. The focal point of the project was an {{ARG}} hosted on [[CharacterBlog Mikoshiba's official Twitter]], in which players voted on actions and solutions to help Nozaki investigate the theft of the Sakura family jewels. Also released was another spate of new merch based off of the AU, and a poll for the manga's best couple (won by Hori x Kashima), with a chance to win exclusive merch by voting.
* ''Manga/{{Inuyasha}}'' did a special retrospective type episode for its 100th. All the characters got stuck in demon moth cocoons and thinking about how [=InuYasha=] always helped them out while [=InuYasha=] was trying to rescue them.
* ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'':
** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStoneOcean Stone Ocean]]'', the GrandFinale of the series' original continuity began publication the same day ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventurePhantomBlood Phantom Blood]]'' did on the 13th anniversary of the manga.
** The 20th anniversary (2007) saw an animated film and video game based on ''Phantom Blood''.
** The 25th anniversary (2012, though it extended to the year before and after) saw the beginning of the first televised anime adaptation of the series (which continued past the anniversary), as well as [[VideoGame/JoJosBizarreAdventureAllStarBattle another video game]] (covering ''all'' the parts this time) and three light novels (''[[Literature/JoJosBizarreAdventureOverHeaven Over Heaven]]'', ''Literature/PurpleHazeFeedback'', and ''Literature/JorgeJoestar'').
* ''Anime/{{Macross}}'':
** ''Anime/MacrossFrontier'' was originally planned as a 25th anniversary for ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross''. It ended up a year late, but the show was still full of references to the number 25: the new fighter was the VF-25, Frontier was the 25th fleet, the main Macross ship was the Macross Quarter (25%), etc. The show also related to elements of all the previous ''Macross'' series.
** ''Anime/MacrossII'' was released in 1992 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ''SDF Macross'', but it was [[GodDoesNotOwnThisWorld done without Studio Nue's involvement]]. As a result, Creator/StudioNue[=/=]Creator/{{Satelight}} declared ''Macross II'' to be an AlternateContinuity work.
** The franchise celebrated its 30th anniversary with ''VideoGame/Macross30TheVoiceThatConnectsTheGalaxy'', a video game which brought characters from all the different shows (minus ''Macross II'') in an original story, justified via TimeTravel.
** The 40th anniversary marked a milestone in the franchise's history as it marked the first time the entire franchise [[LateExportForYou was made available internationally]][[note]]Excluding [[Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross any]][[Anime/MacrossDoYouRememberLove thing]] before 1987, which remains under Harmony Gold's control[[/note]] after [[ScrewedByTheLawyers the legal battle]] between Big West and Harmony Gold was settled in the previous year.
* ''Anime/{{Mnemosyne}}'' was created to commemorate the adult-oriented anime network Creator/{{ATX}}'s tenth anniversary.
* ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'':
** The manga celebrated its ninth anniversary with a page showing Gaara and Naruto posing with a certain group of seven other people.
** They did this yet again for its tenth anniversary in chapter 434 with a cover of Naruto clones working on a puppet of his newly-acquired Sage-Mage enhanced Rasenshuriken technique.:[[http://3.bp.blogspot.com/__yDg-uqoS6I/THjHz2VtYiI/AAAAAAAAAO0/lOBwAd7qF44/s1600/01-02.jpg]]
** The anime had an {{omake}} for the 349th episode about the characters celebrating the 350th episode...which ''the title character himself'' wasn't invited to because ''he was not in it'' (the whole episode was about Sasuke and Itachi), and then noting that before this he was absent for the 100th episode (which was about Might Guy, Rock Lee, and Tsunade) and the 300th (the episode of the fight against Hidan and Kakuzu ''right'' before he showed up). Which is funny, because most of the characters who ''were'' invited there [[HypocriticalHumor weren't in that episode either]].
* ''Anime/{{Ojarumaru}}'' celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2012 by having a 3rd special air on March 20. A character event was hosted at the NHK Studio Park Event Hall from August 21 to September 17. Episode 1334 had a ShoutOut to ''Manga/NintamaRantarou''. In addition, NHK E-Tele aired the top 10 episodes of Ojarumaru in a different attire [[note]] This was part of an event called "Cosplay Ojarumaru 50" in which people in Japan from September 3 to December 7 could vote on the best episodes of Ojarumaru in a different attire, which would later air on NHK E-Tele in late December. 10 episodes were then selected by NHK based on the most popular votes, half of which were older episodes. [[/note]] from December 24, 2012 to January 10, 2013.
* ''Manga/OnePiece'':
** ''Anime/OnePieceFilmStrongWorld'', the 10th movie corresponding to the series' 10th year anniversary, was penned by Creator/EiichiroOda himself; as confirmed by WordOfGod, this means that this is part of the manga's canon. However, this is largely {{averted}} in the ''Manga/OnePiece'' anime itself. No milestones in the series are particularly heralded as special events, and significant events only happen on episodes 250 (end of Franky's origin flashback), 300 (Zoro's defeat of [[spoiler:[=CP9=]'s Kaku]]) and 400 (Silvers Rayleigh talking about Gold Roger).
** The 100th chapter marks the end of the East Blue Saga, and thus, the beginning of the crew's Grand Line journey, complete with an in-universe launching ceremony at the end of the chapter. (In the anime, this was episode 53, so not much of a milestone.) In fact, Oda actually cut out a couple of planned sidestory chapters from the manga (which made it into the anime) in order to specifically invoke this.
** The 800th chapter marked [[spoiler: the founding of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.]]
** For the 20th anniversary, a TV special retelling the East Blue Saga with new animation, aptly titled ''One Piece: Episode of East Blue'', and a three-issue magazine (''One Piece Magazine'') serializing a novel about Ace were released. Also, a callback in form of the cover of the first Shonen Jump issue in which ''One Piece'' started was shown in the 33rd issue of 2017, as well as some one-shots and other minor 'projects' in said issue. Also, ''One Piece: World Seeker'' was released in March 2019 to coincide with the anniversary of the anime, featuring the talents of several producers and supervisors of many aspects of the franchise. ''Also'', a live-action TV series was announced, with Eiichiro Oda himself as one of the executive producers. And that's without mentioning the special promotions made by the One Piece Tower, three of the smartphone games and collabs with Japanese apps.
** The 900th chapter ended on a {{cliffhanger}} where [[spoiler: the Thousand Sunny was seemingly destroyed]], with the following chapter revealing that [[spoiler: Jimbei's old crew, the Sun Pirates, had intervened at the last moment -- with the tiger blowfish [[FishPeople fishman]] Wadatsumi hiding the Sunny and the Straw Hats in his mouth while the Sun Pirates had their own ship take the hit. They were ''that'' supportive of their former captain joining the Straw Hats]].
** The 20th anniversary of the anime was rather huge too -- the next movie ''Anime/OnePieceStampede'' and a special episode adapting the oneshot ''Romance Dawn'' were released in 2019. And to top it all off, Funimation announced a return to working on the dub of the main series after a year's break (though releasing some of the specials and the dub of ''Stampede'' in the meantime).
** The 1,000th chapter essentially kick-starts the final battle of the Wano arc where Luffy and Zoro, along with Eustass Kidd, his first mate, Killer and Trafalgar Law confront two of the current Pirate Emperors, Kaido and Big Mom, while Yamato, Kaido's child, tells Momonosuke and Shinobu about her flashback with Ace and him telling her Luffy and his belief that he'll achieve his dream of being the King of the Pirates. As she winds down her tale, the Pirate Emperors mock Luffy and dare him to make his declaration to be the King of the Pirates once more, to which Luffy, after making sure the Red Scabbards (who fought Kaido earlier and lost) are okay and transported out of the battlefield, responds by flooring Kaido with a new Gear Third move, Gum Gum Red Roc, actually hurting him this time and, as dared, declares his intention to be the King of the Pirates and surpass the both of them.
** The 1,000th episode of the anime, not quite being to the point of the 1,000th chapter, chose a more nostalgic celebratory format. It utilizes sequences of the Straw Hats regrouping inside Onigashima to show a montage of each of them kicking ass in their own unique ways, accompanied by a look back at highlights of their memorable moments of the series. As the episode's ending, the Straw Hats line up for an AssKickingPose as the most famous LetsGetDangerous music track, 'Overtaken,' plays, with a last montage of several of such sequences from the series' past. And the whole episode was kicked off with a fantastic reimagining of the original opening, 'We Are.'
* ''Anime/OsomatsuSan'' is for Akatsuka Fujio's 80th birthday. Instead of embracing its 60s look wholeheartedly, it instead uses it for comedic effect with [[AffectionateParody its parodies]]. Also getting in on the anniversary fun is a sequel series to ''Manga/TensaiBakabon'' (titled ''Shonen Bakabon'', centered around Bakabon learning how to be properly stupid again after getting brainy), and an alternate take on ''Manga/HimitsuNoAkkoChan'' written by the Kamikita Twins.
* ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'':
** The special episode ''Anime/PokemonTheMastermindOfMiragePokemon'' was made in part to celebrate 10 years since the franchise launched with the ''VideoGame/PokemonRedAndBlue'' UsefulNotes/GameBoy games in Japan in 1996. The kicker, it aired in the U.S. ([[TheOtherDarrin with new voice actors]]) first, where the fans there only had Pokémon since 1998.
** Another, more subtle way to celebrate an anniversary in the anime is ''Spurt!'', the 10th OpeningTheme. It shows '''all''' the Pokémon that Ash has ever obtained in the series, but [[BaitAndSwitchCredits most of them never showed up in the corresponding season]].
** The Anime has also been none too shy with "hundred" episodes. (This list includes episodes with numbers X99 and X00 by Bulbapedia reckoning because said reckoning excludes two {{Lost Episode}}s aired out-of-order but includes the {{Banned|Episode}} Porygon Episode.)
*** 399: The group arrives for the Evergrande Conference; 400: The Tournament starts
*** 499: A {{cosplay}} episode wherein Brock wins a Happiny Egg
*** 597-8: Ash vs Paul 1st time (599 has Ash's recovery as well as Brock's meeting with Uxie)
*** 699: Iris' victory in the first Club Battle Tourney OR 700: The beginning of the "Meowth pretends to join Ash and co." arc.
*** 800: The start of ''Anime/PokemonTheSeriesXY'' (Conversely, 799 ends ''Anime/PokemonTheSeriesBlackAndWhite''.)
*** 900: [[spoiler:Team Flare's second appearance, and Zygarde Core temporarily transforms into 10% forme]]
*** 1,000: [[spoiler:Lillie recovers her lost memories and becomes able to touch all Pokémon again. Gladion's Type: Null also evolves into Silvally.]] This episode was actually promoted as episode 1,000 in Japan, which meant some of the special episodes were counted in. Bulbapedia however, counts it as the 988th episode.
** The 1''20''th episodes of both the ''Anime/PokemonTheSeriesRubyAndSapphire'' and ''Anime/PokemonTheSeriesDiamondAndPearl'' sagas[[note]]Episodes 394 and 586 respectively[[/note]] were {{Clip Show}}s of the respective sagas to date. The latter was also the last one made in Standard Definition.
** The [[Anime/PokemonIChooseYou twentieth movie]], instead of being about Ash and his friends in Alola, will instead be a re-imagining of the first season and will feature Ash, Pikachu and Ho-oh. However, it deviates from the the first episode greatly by having new characters with Generation 4 favorites like Piplup and Lucario, and even Generation 7 monsters like Incineroar and even Marshadow. It takes place in an AlternateUniverse from the original Kanto arc.
** ''Anime/PokemonTheSeriesSunAndMoon'' also had a subtle celebration in episode 20, premiering in Japan fairly close to the 20th anniversary of the anime and was a BottleEpisode just featuring Ash and Pikachu. A nod to the very first episode was also made with the duo having a brief encounter with another Legendary Pokémon (in this case, [[spoiler:Tapu Lele]]).
** Episode 42 of ''Sun and Moon'' celebrated the 20th anniversary of the anime by flying the class to Kanto on a field trip. This included bringing back Misty and Brock in their original Kanto designs and Team Rocket doing their original motto (complete with James' rose). It also featured a lot of Kanto Pokémon. Even Jigglypuff reappeared.
** The 25th anniversary of the anime was a double episode -- Ash meeting up with Clemont and Bonnie again for some training, and a battle against Kalos Elite Four member Drasna.
** Ash's final episodes in "To Be a Pokémon Master" were released on Netflix on September 8th, 2023, the 25th anniversary of the American premire of "Pokémon, I Choose You!"
* ''Anime/PrettyCure'':
** The franchise actually had ''two'' 5th anniversary celebrations, both beginning the ''Anime/PrettyCureAllStars'' film series. The first was the short ''Go Go Dream Live'', which had the first team up between the ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure Max Heart'', ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCureSplashStar'' and ''Anime/YesPrettyCure5 Go Go'' teams. This short was also adapted into an arcade game that same year. The full movie ''Anime/PrettyCureAllStars DX'' is a big screen revamp of that short, including the ''Anime/FreshPrettyCure'' team.
** ''Anime/PrettyCureAllStars DX 3'' celebrated 10 ''Pretty Cure'' movies (quite the feat for a magical girl series).
** ''Anime/HappinessChargePrettyCure'' marked exactly 10 years to the beginning of the original series ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure'' with a CouchGag where a Cure from the past would introduce the show. That season also celebrated 500 episodes of the franchise.
** The eighth ''Anime/PrettyCureAllStars'' movie "Everybody Sing - Miraculous Magic" was the franchise's 20th film.
** ''Anime/HugttoPrettyCure'' celebrates the franchise's fifteenth anniversary. Its Fall movie would have the team meeting up with [[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure Cure Black and White, the original Pretty Cure]], as well as bringing back the "every Cure Ever" format of the ''All Stars'' films after they switched to the "last 3 teams" format of ''Dream Stars'' and ''Super Stars''. In addition, [[spoiler:Black and White themselves]] made an appearance in episode 21 and 22, the first time in the series that a crossover/meet-up between two (or more) series that isn't a SpinoffSendoff happened in the show itself.
*** Said crossover appearance would then get one-upped '''massively''' in episode 36 and 37. [[spoiler:In episode 36, not only Black and White returned again, this time Luminous, Nozomi/Dream, Love/Peach, and the entire ''Mahou Tsukai'' and ''Kira Kira'' girls also returned. As for episode 37... Well, let's just say that '''every single Cure''' returned for one big battle against Dr. Traum. And it's not only them: [[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCureSplashStar The Kiryuu sisters]], [[Anime/HeartcatchPrettyCure Cure Flower]], [[Anime/PrettyCureAllStars Cure Echo]], [[Anime/HappinessChargePrettyCure Cure Tender, Ohana and Olina]], Cure Pekorin, Cure Mofurun, [[Anime/FreshPrettyCure Soular, Westar]], [[Anime/SuitePrettyCure Otokichi]], [[Anime/SmilePrettyCure Candy]], [[Anime/DokiDokiPrecure Regina]], [[Anime/GoPrincessPrettyCure Yui]], [[Anime/MahoGirlsPrecure Kouchou]], [[Anime/KiraKiraPrecureALaMode Pikario, and Bibury]] also returned to help the Cures purify Dr. Traum with the All For You! finisher.]]
** To celebrate the 15th anniversary of ''Anime/YesPrettyCure5'', the movie for ''Anime/HealinGoodPrettyCure'' was a crossover with ''Anime/YesPrettyCure5GoGo''. Similarly, the movie for ''Anime/TropicalRougePrettyCure'' was a crossover with ''Anime/HeartcatchPrettyCure'' to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
** For the 20th anniversary, the franchise is going nuts. First, we have the 20th entry to the franchise, ''Anime/HirogaruSkyPrettyCure''. After a two year hiatus, the ''Anime/PrettyCureAllStars'' movie franchise returns with ''Pretty Cure All Stars F''. As well, after fifteen years without a direct sequel to any entry, it was revealed that both ''Yes!'' and ''Maho Girls'' are set to have adult-era sequels in 2023 and 2024.
* ''[[VideoGame/PriPara [=PriPara=]]]'':
** The anime has the episode "Tension 100% Max!", which is about Dorothy West being stuck inside the Rosette Pact and [[spoiler: getting her Super Cyalume Coord.]] The episode also has the number "100" and puns involving the number placed throughout the episode as part of a contest. If a viewer was able to name all the instances in which the number 100 was mentioned, they would be entered for a chance to win a golden version of the Cyalume Jewel Mic toy. 5 second prize winners won merchandise from Prism Stone Shop, and 50 third-prize winners won a CD of the then-current ending theme, "[=PriPara=] Dancing!".
** There was also the "Laala's First Anniversary" campaign, which celebrated the one year anniversary of the franchise, as well as the fifth anniversary of the ''VideoGame/PrettySeries'' franchise. Special clothing items were given out in the game, a mall tour came to Japanese malls in the summer of 2015 and a special cake was made by [=AniSugar=]. The same thing was done for the second anniversary of the franchise (which also celebrated 5 years of ''Pretty Rhythm'' TV shows), except three more events were added: new items were sold at Prism Stone, two new idol units were announced, and the Kami Skirt tournament started the same day.
* ''Anime/RanpoKitanGameOfLaplace'' is for the 50th anniversary since Edogawa Rampo's passing, and updates itself in most of its aspects to appeal to modern viewers.
* For the 30th anniversary (2008) of both Creator/RumikoTakahashi's first published short story (''Katte na Yatsura'') and the manga version of ''Manga/UruseiYatsura'', three new OVA episodes (one for each of ''Urusei Yatsura'', ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'', and ''Manga/InuYasha'') were made, along with an animated short {{crossover}} of those three series. (The ''Inu Yasha'' OVA episode, which covered the Black Tessaiga arc, was later reused as part of the second TV series.) These were initially shown during that year at a gallery show, called "It's a Rumic World", which also featured manga manuscript pages and other illustrators' drawings of Takahashi's characters on display.
* ''Anime/SailorMoon'' ended with episode 200. A ContinuityReboot anime, ''Anime/SailorMoonCrystal,'' was announced on the franchise's 20th anniversary. Some of TheMerch for ''Crystal'' also bears the 20th anniversary logo, despite being released two years later.
* ''Magazine/ShonenJump'':
** The first ''Famicom Jump'' game, ''Heroes Retsuden'', was made for the magazine's 20th anniversary. ''VideoGame/JStarsVictoryVs'' was later made for the 45th festivities, and ''VideoGame/JumpForce'' was made for their 50th.
** To celebrate ''Shonen Jump'''s 40th anniversary, there was a special anime tour moving through ten cities in Japan, showing anime movies that had been made just for the occasion. This included a new ''Manga/{{Dragonball}}'' [[Anime/DragonBallYoSonGokuAndHisFriendsReturn special]], which concluded its anime run eleven years before that benchmark, making it a bit of a milestone celebration for ''Dragon Ball'' as well.
** For their 50th anniversary, they held a year-long exhibition about the history of the magazine in three parts: One about the 50s-70s era, a second on the 80s-90s era, and a third about the 2000s and beyond. The magzines themselves got a bit of a spinal makeover, with each book carrying a spine design from a different year of ''Jump'' publication. They also released the smartphone game ''Ore Collection'' centered around all of their hit series.
* ''Literature/{{Slayers}}'':
** In 2006, for the series' 15th anniversary, Music/MegumiHayashibara released a new single, ''Meet Again,'' and it was accompanied with a new animated music video of the characters, making it the first animated feature for the franchise since the ''Slayers Premium'' movie in 2001.
** The franchise celebrated its 20th anniversary with re-releases: both new cover art and slight changes in dialogue for the original [[LightNovel light novels]] and new boxart complete with [[{{Feelies}} new supplementary materials]] for the anime.
* ''Anime/SpacePatrolLuluco'' acted as one for Creator/StudioTrigger's 5th anniversary, and was filled to the brim with references to past Trigger (and [[Creator/StudioGainax Gainax]]) series complete with [[spoiler: a ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' style MassiveMultiplayerCrossover and the reveal that Luluco is the true identity of one of Trigger's mascots.]]
* ''Anime/TimeBokan'':
** For the 40th anniversary of the franchise, Creator/TatsunokoProduction released ''Anime/YattermanNight'', a ContinuityReboot of the franchise's second series. ''Anime/{{Karas}}'' was made for the 40th anniversary of the studio itself.
