In this story, it's revealed that all of the wars fought over the past 30 years were part of a {{Masquerade}} to keep the public in the dark about an AlienInvasion. The nations of the world are fighting the enormous alien monsters with a number of superpowered creatures called Category D's. One of these is Mana Eimiya, a [[GiantWoman 49.46-metre-tall girl]] whose job is to periodically come out of hiding and beat up incoming aliens, apparently with just her bare hands.

Problem is, she's fallen head over heels for a guy 40 times shorter than her - a boy named Makoto Tobita with spiky hair and an obsession with chivalry and being overprotective of girls. Can this unlikely relationship work?

''Super Dreadnought Girl 4946'' (''Chou Dokyuu Shoujo 4946'') is a different kind of BoyMeetsGirl story from Takeshi Azuma, a.k.a. Studio Kimigabuchi (the studio behind ''Manga/ReTake'').

The manga was serialized in ''Magazine/ShonenSunday Super'' from 2009 to 2011.

!!Provide examples of:
* ACupAngst: Kuumi had quite complex about it. [[spoiler:When investigating a sea spirit phenomenon attacking girls, Jinguuji points out that the monster only attacked girls with B-cup or larger. ''She is not [[OneHitKill amused.]]'']]
* AmericansAreCowboys: Issac Montana [[ExploitedTrope exploits]] this in the beauty contest.
* AsianFoxSpirit: The final arc reveals that [[spoiler:Senri is a nine-tailed fox.]]
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: Giant monsters are the typical choice of MonsterOfTheWeek in this story.
* BeachEpisode: Chapter 19.
* BeamOWar: Between Mana and the Kirin.
* BeautyContest: Chapter 20. A winner wasn't declared between the top 2, though.
* {{BFS}}: Senri is a shapeshifter with the ability to turn himself into one of these for Mana to use. And when Mana is supercharged from [[spoiler: eating Tobita]] he turns into an absolutely MASSIVE hammer that completely dwarfs Mana.
* BigBad: [[spoiler: [[CuteMonsterGirl Inochi]], the [[MotherOfAThousandYoung Mother of all the D-Codes]] and love interest of Tobita's ancestor.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: Chapter 17 brings a big one: [[spoiler:After Kuumi ventured into the sealed cave of the Kirin and being overwhelmed by its might (She got beaten halfway to death by just a single of the beast's claws), she resigns herself to death, [[IncestSubtext silently admitting her love for Makoto]]; only to witness Mana's hand crashing through the cavern and halting Kirin's surefire killing blow, and Makoto says, riding on Mana's shoulder: "Kuumi, let me take care of this".]]
* BlushSticker: Isaac Montana, who at one point manages to have these AND a LuminescentBlush at the same time.
* BottomlessBladder: Discussed in chapter 4, Mana actually doesn't poop since she doesn't require food to live.
* ButNotTooForeign: One of Jinguuji's grandfathers is French.
* CannibalismSuperpower: [[spoiler:Mana]]'s power is dependent on regularly feeding on [[SoulEating human souls]], which they refuses to do since they [[WasOnceAMan used to be human]]. Going out for a decade without eating a single soul has left their power at a dangerously low level, such that the first fight against a MonsterOfTheWeek ends with them knocked out from the first blow. It takes [[spoiler:Makoto]] lying to them about it being OK if they vomit the human out [[HourOfPower within three minutes]] to get them to repower themself by eating them. When the three minutes are out, [[spoiler:Makoto somehow survives]].
* CatGirl: When Isaac Montana introduces herself to the rest of the class, she comes in wearing a cat suit.
* CleaningUpRomanticLooseEnds: In the finale, Kuumi abruptly gives up on her brother and realizes she's fallen in love with [[spoiler: Senri]] just before his HeroicSacrifice. [[spoiler:He gets better.]]
* CrashIntoHello: Averted when Isaac Montana tries to bump into Makoto. He evades and Isaac knocks her head on a street light.
* CrucifiedHeroShot: [[spoiler:Mana]] in Chapter 27.
* CurbStompBattle: The US Navy's most powerful carrier and its huge fleet of escorts are no more than road bumps on Mana's way to save Makoto.
* CuteAndPsycho: Kuumi Tobita, Makoto's younger sister, is a pretty, young, [[DemonSlaying highly trained youkai slayer]]. She claims to be quite fond of her brother . . . well, her brother's [[BrotherSisterIncest screams of pain]], anyway. For that matter, she really likes Mana's [[PsychoLesbian screams of pain]]. (At one point, she tells Makoto that [[spoiler:it would be a terrible shame if their father did the job of exorcising Mana. . . because he would do it painlessly]].) In general, it appears that she likes ''anyone's'' [[{{Fetish}} screams of pain]].
* CuteGiant: Mana.
* CuteMonsterGirl: Mana, again. [[spoiler: Inochi]] counts too.
* DefaceOfTheMoon: [[spoiler:First, ''TokyoTower'' is thrown into the moon. And now, during battle with Kirin, Mana's beam attack ''chipped the moon'']].
* DoggedNiceGuy: Makoto Tobita.
* DoNotGoGentle: In Chapter 21, Tsuchida tells Senri that [[spoiler:despite believing that the upcoming threat is too powerful for anything humanity has (even with '''Mana''' on their side) to defeat, they've never thought once about retreating]].
* FreakyIsCool: Jinguuji's attitude.
* FullFrontalAssault: Aside from some [[CensorSteam Censor Clouds]], Mana is naked after her MakeMyMonsterGrow moment.
* GenderBlenderName: The very [[MostCommonSuperpower VERY female]] [[GenkiGirl Isaac Montana.]] [[WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries In America!]] Subverted in that [[spoiler: it's not her real name.]]
* GenreSavvy: Isaac Montana and Jinguuji.
** ''Definitely'' Jinguuji. Though initially jealous about Isaac's attempted CrashIntoHello, the fact that he recognized it as a trope clued him in that there was something fishy about it.
* GiantWoman: Mana was a giantess at almost 50 meters tall. [[spoiler:In chapter 28, she grows to 4946 meters tall and, on chapter 29, grew to the size of ''[[SerialEscalation celestial bodies]]'', big enough to hug ''the sun''.]]
* GorgeousGaijin: Isaac Montana is American, and fits all the {{Phenotype Stereotype}}s.
* HandsomeLech: Jinguuji. And Senri takes it to up to eleven levels since his introduction reveals that he once dated 100 girls at the same time. For true love!
* HeroicSacrifice: Makoto (and everyone else except Mana) believed that he was doing this [[spoiler: when he tricked Mana into swallowing him just long enough for her to defeat the MonsterOfTheWeek. It SHOULD have killed him instantly, but [[DisneyDeath it turned out that the B.S. "three minute rule" he made up on the spot worked for him.]] Of course, with the current situation, this might be turned into ''real'' Heroic Sacrifice.]]
** [[spoiler: A flashback shows him doing this to save Kuumi from a bear when they were younger, nearly getting killed in the process.]]
** [[spoiler: After confessing his love to Kuumi, Senrei transforms into his true form and sacrifices himself to kill all but 15 of the 100 massive D-code monsters sent by Inochi... [[SubvertedTrope until it's revealed he possessed Kuumi's doll]].]]
** [[spoiler: Montana [[TakingYouWithMe attempts to blow herself up using a buttload of grenades and dynamite]] [[YouShallNotPass to stop the US army from catching Makoto]]... [[SubvertedTrope but Kuumi stops her]].]]
** [[spoiler:Makoto gets hit by a shell trying to save Mana, causing her to go into a HeroicBSOD and then into a RoaringRampageOfRevenge against Inochi.]]
*** [[spoiler:Of course, she's going on rampage after Makoto asked her to swallow him whole, [[EleventhHourSuperpower overcharging her in the process.]]]]
*** [[spoiler:Then Mana ends up doing this, using all her power to stops Inochi, after ditching Makoto to safety after her heart-to-heart talk and LoveConfession to Makoto.[[DisneyDeath She survived...]] [[TraumaInducedAmnesia at the cost of her memories.]]]]
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Chapter 17 reveals [[spoiler:that at least as far as her brother is concerned, Kuumi's {{Yandere}} attitude is largely a front developed after he got [[BearsAreBadNews mauled by a bear]] trying to protect her. She doesn't want to have him put his life on the line like that ever again.]]
%%* HotBlooded: Makoto, again.
* HourOfPower: Subverted. Mana is told that she has three minutes to [[spoiler: spit up Makoto after eating him]], but that was a complete lie. In reality [[spoiler:Makoto should have died the instant Mana swallowed him. No one knows how he survived for any length of time, so for all we know he could stay in for a lot longer that three minutes.]]
* HugeSchoolGirl: At 49.46M, Eimiya is easily the hugest.
* InsistentTerminology: Mana hates it when people round up her height to 50M instead of 49.46 because, according to her, [[ComicallyMissingThePoint short girls]] [[SkewedPriorities are cuter.]]
* InterspeciesRomance: Mana has the body of a yokai, though her mind and soul are those of a human girl; and she's in love with Makoto.
* LateForSchool: Issac Montana does this intentionally to try to get Makoto's attention, due to learning this from Animes.
* MagicalGirlfriend: Mana is something of an example.
* MagneticGirlfriend: Par for the course, Makoto starts attracting love interests almost immediately after officially becoming Mana's boyfriend. It's both lampshaded, by Jinguuji lamenting it, and PlayedWith as it's Makoto defending Mana and declaring her to be his girlfriend that makes Akemi realize Makoto's [[IncorruptiblePurePureness true nature]].
* NewTransferStudent: Mana, Kuumi, and Isaac all transfer into Makoto's school.
* NotQuiteHuman:
** Mana is an enormously obvious example, being merged with a giant youkai.
** It's also hinted that [[spoiler:Makoto isn't entirely normal either, both when he survives having Mana absorb energy from his soul and when his demon-hunting sister says that she loves his screams of pain the most. He also had black hair as a child, with his white hair being unexplained.]]
* NotWhatItLooksLike: After apparently being replaced by [[SmugSnake Senri,]] Makoto is approached by a normal girl he'd saved in the past, who offered to cook for him (something Mana obviously couldn't ever do.) While at her place, not only does Mana see them by looking in the window, but runs off crying about how Makoto "likes little girls". Though in the way she says it, sounds like he is a paedophile.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Isaac Montana's American GenkiGirl {{Otaku}} personality masks the fact that she's [[spoiler: TheMole for the US Army, though Jinguuji is smart enough to see through it.]]
* OddFriendship: Jinguuji and Makoto. Maybe because unlike [[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter others]], Jinguuji can really see Makoto for [[DoggedNiceGuy what]] [[NaiveEverygirl he]] [[IncorruptiblePurePureness is]].
** It got better; It's revealed in chapter 38 that Makoto is the first guy who befriend Jinguuji, and he dyed his hair for him.
* OhCrap: End of chapter 20. [[spoiler:"This is The International Space Station. We... we can hear someone. We discovered an immense number of space life-form armies, exceeding the level of Kirin. Their expected destination is... '''EARTH.''']]
%%* OjouRinglets: Shintani Ryouko.
* {{Otaku}}: Jinguuji, of all people, later joined by Isaac.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Makoto Tobita, taking out people bigger than himself since elementary.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Jinguuji delivers one to Inochi, telling her bluntly that her actions contradict Shingon true dreams. [[VillainousBreakdown She doesn't take it well.]]
* ShoutOut:
** Jinguuji said he only liked [[Literature/HaruhiSuzumiya hyperactive girls who are interested in espers, time travelers, or aliens]].
** Mana's time to fight before she absorbed Makoto's soul completely: [[Series/{{Ultraman}} three minutes]].
** Mana's fight with [[VisualNovel/SchoolDays Saw]].
** Mana's secret technique: [[Series/{{Ultraman}} Crossing-hand Laser]]
** When following Makoto and Isaac into Akihabara, Jinguuji dresses up as a parody of [[Anime/CodeGeass Zero]].
* ShowWithinAShow: Isaac's favorite anime, ''Beat the Little Mice''.
* SkewedPriorities: Mana is more concerned about the supposed idea that shorter girls are cuter than convenience with her insistence on exactly specifying her height (49.46 meters) instead of rounding it up to 50 meters.
* SmugSnake: Senri, who lords it over Makoto how much better suited he is for Mana.
* SociopathicHero: Kuumi does a lot to protect the people of Japan from youkai... but let's just say it's not for the purest of reasons.
* SoulEating: After becoming a "Category D", [[spoiler:Mana]] no longer subsists on regular food, but rather requires '''human souls'''; a parallel is specifically drawn to {{youkai}} from Japanese folklore, who often eat humans. Understandably, [[spoiler:Mana]], who was originally human, is horrified by this to the point of refusing to engage in a practice.
* SquareCubeLaw: Used to explain why Mana fights with her bare hands rather than the government making her a giant sword, as a sword her size would easily break due to it's weight.
* SwallowedWhole: [[spoiler:Mana]] eating [[spoiler:Makoto]] for CannibalismSuperpower purposes.
* ThinkingUpPortals: In the final chapter, [[spoiler:Mana]], as part of her newly gained power-up, can now punch enemies on '''the other side of Earth''' through what appear to be spontaneously generated portals, meaning that pretty much '''nothing''' is beyond her reach.
* [[TinyGuyHugeGirl Tiny Guy, HUGE Girl]]: TheSeries
* TokyoTower: Knocked ''to the moon'' along with a monster.
* TykeBomb: Montana and [[spoiler: Mana]].
* VillainousBreakdown: Inochi. [[spoiler: since she's [[AnthropomorphicPersonification personification of the]] ''[[ThePowerOfTheSun sun]]'', [[ApocalypseWow her breakdown is not pretty.]]]]
* {{Youkai}}: The series' antagonists -- and even the main character -- are yokai, though they're referred to as Category D by the Japanese government.
* AWizardDidIt: Category D creatures are stated to be supernatural in origin, hence why they can defy the laws of physics.
