Straight-laced prefect Tougo Sakuradaimon believes in following rules, and it's his job to enforce discipline among the students at his school. Poemu Kohinata is an easygoing GyaruGirl who frequently runs afoul of Sakuradaimon for her attire. But as they get to know each other better, they find themselves warming up to one another.

''The Story Between a Dumb Prefect and a High School Girl with an Inappropriate Skirt Length'' (ポンコツ風紀委員とスカート丈が不適切なJKの話, ''Ponkotsu Fuuki Iin to Skirt-take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi'') is a RomanticComedy manga written and drawn by Creator/TakumaYokota. It has been published since March 2019 in ''Shonen Sirius'' magazine.

!!This manga provides examples of:
* AlwaysAChildToParent: Poemu and Ririku's mom still thinks of her daughters as cute kids who like MagicalGirl anime like Puricute, and sends them to school with themed bento.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: How Kogori sees Yamato. She's better at academics, sports, running the student council, and arm strength (which is impressive since he's ridiculously buff). Of course, this is why he sees her as a WorthyOpponent.
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Tougo's dad, Shougo, is so awkward around teens that when he meets Poemu, he starts BattleRapping at her.
* BattleAura: When Poemu is getting herself psyched up for the school marathon, her eyes are drawn with flames and she's surrounded by a fiery aura, complete with "menacing" sound effects straight out of ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure''. Akina and Ranko are also shown with auras.
* BattleRapping:
** Sakuradaimon lays into some freestylers for blocking the sidewalk, and ends up convincing them to return to school and start a rap club to express themselves, by rap battling them.
** Poemu's dad also used to be a battle rapper, and we get to see him rap battle with Sakuradaimon's dad at the school cultural festival.
** When Sakuradaimon's dad meets Poemu, he's tongue-tied and can't think of anything to say. Then he remembers the TotallyRadical way to talk to kids these days is through rapping. He improvises a DissTrack, but everyone else thinks he's just insulting her. Poemu shoots back with her own diss, and both of them apologize profusely later.
* BeachBury: Tsukishima is subjected to one. Of course, at the end of the chapter they [[SomethingWeForgot forget he's still there...]]
* BelligerentSexualTension: Between the President and Vice President. Kaoru claims he doesn't see her as a woman since they're ChildhoodFriends, but it's pretty clear that when she's pretending to be someone else entirely, that he's actually incredibly attracted to her. On Nadeshiko's end, she's far more open about having a thing for him, but is also far more the teasing type... Until he starts ignoring her because of how badly he's in love with her alter-ego.
* BetaCouple:
** Akina and Izubuchi. She's been into him ever since he saved her from falling down the stairs. He seems to be almost as ObliviousToLove as Sakuradaimon, though.
** Yamato and Kogori. She [[TheTease loves teasing him]], and he's [[LovesMyAlterEgo head over heels for her "gal version"]].
* BigWhat:
** When [[spoiler:Tougo confesses to Poemu that he likes her]], she responds with a "HUH!?" that can be heard across the island.
** She does it again at the end of Chapter 39 when [[spoiler:he asks her to meet his family]].
* BlandNameProduct:
** Kohinata and her friends hang out at Starbakka Coffee.
** Sakuradaimon and the boys go shopping at Guppi, but it's out of his price range. He also wears a "Uniquo" T-shirt.
* BookDumb: As indicated in the title, Sakuradaimon isn't very good at school subjects. Kohinata is a little better, but she still has to go to remedial lessons, where she learns that Sakuradaimon may not be such a Jerkass after all. Akina and Tasaki also have to take a remedial lesson at least once.
* BoyfriendBlockingDad: Poemu's dad Raimu assumes Tougo is after Poemu (he's right, but Tougo has noble intentions), and there's an abrupt art shift as he contemplates "committing a crime in broad daylight" to protect her.
* CannotKeepASecret: Sakuradaimon is terrible at keeping secrets, because it's too close to [[WillNotTellALie lying]] for him. [[spoiler:He only makes it one day keeping his and Poemu's relationship a secret, and she changes her mind about hiding it when she sees how hard it is on him.]]
* CanonWelding: Michikage and Naomi, Shou and Akiko's rivals from Yokota's [[Manga/StraightenUpWelcomeToShikaHighsCompetitiveDanceClub previous series]], get a small cameo during the cultural festival as professional dancers brought in to help out with the school dance.
* ChildhoodFriends: Kaoru Kogori and Nadeshiko Yamato have been friends since they were kids, and still go to the Kogori family beach house each summer.
* TheComicallySerious: Sakuradaimon rarely shows emotion, but he does have a subtle sense of humor.
* CostumeTestMontage[=/=]FashionShopFashionShow: In Chapter 17, Poemu and her friends run into the StudentCouncilPresident at a swimsuit store and end up having her model the swimsuits while they take photos (even using a fan to simulate wind).
* CringeComedy: Chapter 69 sees Shougo and Raimu meeting by chance and initially desperately trying to hold a conversation with each other while greatly fearing they've offended or looked bad before each other until they proceed to talk about their financial trials.
* DarkHorseVictory: In the cavalry relay battle, it seems like Yamato's team can't fail, but Kogori proves to be stronger. [[spoiler:He still loses when his headband slips over his eyes and he hears "Yamada Hanako"'s voice. Then Sakuradaimon and Tsukishima's team swoops in and grabs all the headbands from Yamato.]]
* DatePeepers: In Chapter 25, Poemu's sister Ririku and Tougo's sister Kikuka secretly tail their older siblings to find out if they're dating.
* ADayInTheLimelight:
** Chapter 36 focuses on the protagonists' dads Shougo and Raimu going for a drive, with Raimu helping Shougo with his self-doubt about being a good father.
** Chapter 38 is from Tsukishima's point of view, and also gives Tasaki some screentime.
* DiscoDan: Ranko is a sukeban who looks like she stepped out of UsefulNotes/TheEighties, complete with a long skirt, sukajan jacket and [[EightiesHair teased hair]]. This is lampshaded by other characters who state that her look is ridiculous yet oddly nostalgic with narration noting that her archetype is unfamiliar to modern kids as it fell out of fashion long before the Reiwa era.
* DoubleEntendre: At the sports festival, the final event has a race in which one person rides on top of another. Nadeshiko's team has her riding on Izubuchi, which leads to some risque comments by Sukegawa and Akina.
-->'''Sukegawa:''' Gah, I'm so jealous! Why does that big-titted woman get to ride on top of Yuu!?
-->'''Akina:''' I want to be on top of Bucchi, too! No, I want him on top of me!
* DramaticIrony: In Chapter 52, Poemu's dad and Tougo's dad are at a bar, talking about their respective children's partners and in particular how Raimu doesn't approve of Tougo. Both of them know who their children are dating, they just don't know that they're dating ''each other''. So they end up saying things like this:
-->'''Shougo:''' What a terrible man. I'd love to meet his parents.
* DramaticUnmask: Parodied by Akina in Chapter 27, when she pretends to take off a mask and reveal that she's [[spoiler:the Cultural Festival Committee member]].
* EmbarrassingFirstName: Poemu Kohinata hates her first name and prefers to go by her surname, though she eventually lets Sakuradaimon call her by it. Her friends call her "Po-chan". Later on [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness this seems to have been forgotten]].
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: It's especially apparent to Poemu's friends and sister that she has a crush on Tougo.
* EyePop: Kogori's eyes do this when he sees "Yamada Hanako" in a kimono.
* FamilyThemeNaming: The Kohinata family all have names to do with song and poetry: Poemu (poem), Ririku (Lyric), and Raimu (rhyme). We don't know the mother's name yet, though.
* FisherKingdom: The library is this for one person, student librarian Seiichi Tsukishima. Inside the library he's a {{Bishonen}}, while just sticking his head over the threshold turns him into a {{Gonk}} with AsianBuckTeeth, nearly unrecognizable as the same person. His classmates have figured out that surrounding him with books (or even tying them to his body) has the same effect, and they used this to make him serve as a HostClub waiter for the SchoolFestival.
* FlirtatiousSmackOnTheAss: Nadeshiko (in her gal guise) does this to Kaoru at their New Year's visit to a shrine.
* FondMemoriesThatCouldHaveBeen: When Poemu's dad runs into his old bandmates and sings with them, there's an ImagineSpot of how big they could have made it if he hadn't left to start a family. They imagine playing to sold-out stadiums, and there's the implication that two of them (unclear if Lime/Raimu was one of them) would have had a child together.
* FriendlyRivalry: All of the student council members (except Tsukishima) have this with each other, but it's especially pronounced between Sakuradaimon and Izubuchi and between President Yamato Nadeshiko and Vice President Kaoru Kogori. When the president enlists them all to collect donations for typhoon relief, they each compete to collect the most.
* FunHatingVillain: He's not really a villain, but Vice President Kogori is opposed to any "inappropriate relationships", which to him means basically any relationships. Most people speculate it's because he has a ParalyzingFearOfSexuality (not realizing what's right in front of him with President Yamato). He ends up acting like a DrillSergeantNasty as he drills the Public Morals Committee on [[MoralGuardians policing]] the cultural festival prom.
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: The sweatshirt that Izubuchi suggests Tougo buy for Poemu says "ダーとあーし". With the dashes removed, it says "da to ashi", which sounds a lot like "dat ass" in a Japanese accent.
* AGlassInTheHand: Izubuchi crushes a pencil in his fist when Akina and Sukegawa spend more time squabbling with each other than paying attention to his tutoring.
* GoGetterGirl: President Nadeshiko. Even as a kid, she was energetic and overachieving, pressuring Kaoru into joining judo lessons with her.
* GoodPaysBetter: {{Justified|Trope}} by Shougo, who failed to regularly work out at the gym because [[NoSocialSkills he found having to interact with the people there to be insufferably awkward]], and ended up making himself do it by giving himself no allowance to personally spend every month until he attends sessions at the gym. He ended up expanding this to reward himself for performing more good deeds that he'd feel awkward about (like picking up trash or [[ContrivedCoincidence when he happened to give first aid to Izubuchi]] and end up getting him interested in medicine). But [[ParentsAsPeople he still feels ashamed that he needs this to spur him]] while he's certain that his earnest son Tougo would never fail to try to help without any hint of a reward.
* {{Gonk}}: Tsukishima when he's outside the library (surrounding him with books, or even just holding his head between two books, will cause him to revert to his {{Bishonen}} form).
* GracefulInTheirElement: When around books, Tsukishima is an eloquent {{Bishonen}}. When not, he's a bitter {{Gonk}} that's incapable of being disdainful and rude to everyone around him.
* GyaruGirl: Poemu and her best friends, Motoko Akina and Rui Tasaki. They also call the President's sexy appearance her "gal version".
* HeIsNotMyBoyfriend: A frequent utterance by Kohinata. [[spoiler:At least until she and Sakuradaimon begin going out and very quickly decide not to hide their relationship.]]
* HighSchoolDance: The central event of the SchoolFestival is an American-style prom, with a twist: students are given tickets with descriptions of people (e.g. "dark hair", "taller than 180 cm") and have to find someone who matches the description and ask them to the dance (they can trade cards with each other if their crush doesn't have those traits).
* HomoeroticSubtext: Supposedly, Tasaki's BL manga has it, but to Poemu it just looks like a normal Shonen manga.
* HotLibrarian: Tsukishima, as long as he's near books.
* IndirectKiss: When Kohinata's friends restrain Sakuradaimon so she can make him drink her coffee, she gulps the whole cup when she realizes what that would mean.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: When Shougo comes home and meets Poemu, he's tongue-tied until he remembers using rap to communicate one's feelings. Unfortunately, he thinks all rap is {{Diss Track}}s, so he ends up insulting her appearance in a pretty cringey freestyle.
* JapaneseDelinquents:
** Yuu Izubuchi, the health committee representative, is a former delinquent (apparently the student council president got him to quit), but he still looks and acts like one. When the president calls for more people to collect donations, he calls up a crowd of delinquents to help.
** Later on his ChildhoodFriend Ranko Sukegawa, herself a ''sukeban'' (female delinquent) arrives as a NewTransferStudent.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Izubuchi often comes across as this. He yells and calls people dumb trash at the same time as he makes sure they're not hurt, and helps them if they are.
* JokersLoveJunkFood: Raimu is the more typically-comical father, being far more emotive than Shougo is. He also loves junk food to the point that it comically seems to be the main cause as why [[MoneyDumb he's running out of his monthly allowance]] in Chapter 64.
* KimonoFanservice: In Chapter 39, Tougo and Poemu rent yukata for [[spoiler:their date]].
* LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine:
** Izubuchi wears one with "health" embroidered on the back, but it looks like a UsefulNotes/{{Bosozoku}} jacket.
** Tougo's dad [[RhymeThemeNaming Shougo]] is a professional doctor, and apparently carries one around with him at all times. Poemu lampshades this, asking what kind of doctor actually walks around in a lab coat.
* LargeHam: Mrs. Sakuradaimon seems to be quite the character from what little we've seen of her. When Poemu goes over to their house, she's dressed regally, subject to wild shows of emotion, and speaks in an imposing voice. The scanlator conveys this by giving her speech bubbles a different font in some panels.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: In Chapter 38, Tsukishima and Tasaki (the only main characters without love interests) start hanging out discussing manga, and the conversation gets to talking about the tendency of manga writers to PairTheSpares...to which they both say in unison "[[ShipSinking I absolutely hate it when the leftover characters start dating each other!]]"
* LiterallyLovingThyNeighbor: Kohinata and Sakuradaimon live 50 meters apart from each other, only discovering this when he walks her home.
* LoveConfession: [[spoiler:Tougo finally admits he likes her to Poemu at the end of Chapter 23. Unusually, he's not a case of CannotSpitItOut, since he only realized he liked her earlier that day.]]
* LovesMyAlterEgo: Kogori sees Yamato as a childhood friend, but he's head over heels for her "gal version" which he doesn't recognize as the same person. It's only an alter ego to him, though, as everyone else knows it's still her.
* LoveTriangle: Akina and Sukegawa are both attracted to Izubuchi, who's ObliviousToLove.
* MeetTheInLaws: Chapters 40 and 41 involve Poemu visiting the Sakuradaimon household to meet his family.
* MetaGirl / MetaGuy:
** In Chapter 32, Poemu makes snarky comments on Kogori and Yamato's conversation, even though she's not there. An author's note mentions that her jabs "transcend time and space".
** Tsukishima seems to sometimes have MediumAwareness that he's in a manga.
* MissedHimByThatMuch: During the Culture Festival, Akina talks Izubuchi into looking for the mysterious man in a white lab coat who saved him in the past (actually [[spoiler:Tougo's dad]]), but just as he's about to find him, the man takes off his lab coat at his wife's urging.
* MoneyDumb: As is seen in Chapter 64, Poemu's father Raimu is ''awful'' at holding onto his money. He's limited himself to a monthly balance, realized that he's burned through most of it with three days left to the month, and still ends up having to sell some of his old speakers just to afford making it to a friend's concert ([[FromBadToWorse and then he overheard]] his other daughter making his wife expect something special for their anniversary [[ForgottenAnniversary which he almost forgot about]], affirming him to also sell his old rapper hats).
* MoralGuardians: The Public Morals Committee, especially Vice President Kogori, is opposed to any "inappropriate student relationships". To Kogori that means pretty much any relationships or physical contact, while Sakuradaimon tries to rationalize that if the couple is really in love, the relationship can't be inappropriate ([[spoiler:partially to justify his relationship with Poemu]]).
* MsFanservice: Yamato is [[BuxomBeautyStandard more developed]] than the first-year girls, especially seen in her intro chapter (where Poemu thought she was a "super lewd gyaru") and Chapter 17, where she tries on swimsuits.
* NoSocialSkills: At first glance, Tougo's father is completely cold and severe. It turns that he's not really unemotional as much as he's just [[ShrinkingViolet painfully shy]] - he previously procrastinated going to the gym because of how he couldn't bear with people talking to him. This has been causing him trouble, because while he's aware that [[WhenYouComingHomeDad he's been distant to his children because he was previously busy with his doctor work]], he doesn't know how to make up for it.
* ObliviousToLove: With Poemu being quite a {{Tsundere}}, Tougo is unaware of any indications of her feelings. [[spoiler:However, once ''he'' actually realizes that he's in love with her, he dishes with a LoveConfession within a day.]]
** Akina and Sukegawa are attracted to the point of obsession with Izubuchi, and we frankly just can't explain how he doesn't realize it.
** Yamato and Kogori were ChildhoodFriends and she's in love with him while [[TheTease teasing him endlessly]], but Kogori has no interest in her. However, he is very attracted to her the moment she dons a PaperThinDisguise that fools only him.
* {{Ojou}}: Yamato Nadeshiko is well-respected as the StudentCouncilPresident, and her family is friends with the Kogori family, who are rich enough to have a beach villa and a chauffeur, implying her family's prominent too.
* OnlySaneMan: Compared to the {{Tsundere}} Poemu and the Izubuchi-obsessed Akina, Tasaki is a lot plainer, mentally-speaking...until it turns out that she's actually an utterly-deluded YaoiFangirl whose ShippingGoggles apparently are set to microscopic.
* OppositesAttract: The mother of the Sakuradaimon family is an utter LargeHam even for a comedy. The father, by contrast, is so stony-faced ([[ShrinkingViolet he's actually just very shy and awkward]]) that people regularly find his presence intimidating.
* OutdatedOutfit: Sukegawa dresses and acts like a ''sukeban'' from the 80s or 90s, before any of the characters were born. None of them except Izubuchi recognizes her long skirt and fingerless gloves as signs of delinquent fashion.
* PaperThinDisguise: Taking off her glasses, unbraiding her hair, and changing into a more revealing bikini is enough to make Yamato unrecognizable to Kogori. Everyone else sees through it, though.
* ParentsAsPeople: The chapters concerning Shougo and Raimu generally involve their mutual insecurities at fatherhood and of course, their love for their own children regardless.
* PerpetualFrowner: Izubuchi never smiles. For him, not having a DeathGlare is as close as he gets. Kogori is mostly the same.
* PowerLimiter: In Tasaki's BL manga, Sakuradaimon and Izubuchi take off their armband and health committee jacket, respectively, to unleash their full power. Izubuchi's coat is apparently heavy enough to dent the floor, which shocks his EvilTwin.
* PrettyBoy: Seiichi Tsukishima, a member of the book committee, is a charming, attractive guy when he's in his natural habitat, the library. As soon as he steps outside (even just sticking his head out the door while his feet are still inside), he turns into a {{Gonk}} guy with AsianBuckTeeth who's unrecognizable as the same person.
* PrincessCarry: Izubuchi carries anyone who needs to get to the infirmary and can't walk like this, which has made several girls, especially Akina, fall head over heels for him.
* RedBaron: Izubuchi used to be nicknamed "Unholy Demon Yuu", according to Sukegawa.
* SexierAlterEgo[=/=]SheCleansUpNicely: Student Council President Yamato Nadeshiko is introduced dressed in a short skirt, baring her midriff, and [[LettingHerHairDown with her hair down]]. At the end of the chapter, she unfolds her skirt, braids up her hair, and puts her glasses back on for her normal look (though she's quite good-looking like that too).
** Played straight in the beach trip, where Kogori doesn't even recognize her when she wears a bikini and lets her hair down.
* SharedUniverse: Part of the same one Yokota created in ''Koganeiro'' though its connection is much looser with a small cameo by two supporting characters from ''Manga/StraightenUpWelcomeToShikaHighsCompetitiveDanceClub'' being the only indicator of it. Justified in that this series takes place in Tokyo while the previous works are set in Hamamatsu.
* ShipperOnDeck: Akina and Tasaki towards Poemu and Sakuradaimon [[spoiler:before they start officially going out, at least]]. Meanwhile Poemu and Tasaki act like this towards Akina and Izubuchi. Then there's Fujiko Chouno, the president of the Manga Club, who just loves ships in general and tries to help out Nadeshiko and Kaoru. As she herself says, she might be a BL connoisseur but she loves hetero ships too.
* ShoutOut:
** In Chapter 32, Kogori replicates the famous "Here's Johnny" face from ''Film/TheShining'' when he sees an "inappropriate relationship".
** In Chapter 34, [[https://i.imgur.com/J1Vj7fp.png one panel]] shows Akina looking like a female version of [[Manga/{{Doraemon}} Nobita]].
* SixthRanger: After their initial meeting, Sukegawa is quickly accepted into the girls' friend group as their fourth member.
* SomethingWeForgot: After the group heads back to the villa, Tsukishima is left in a BeachBury, as he lampshades how cliche an ending it is for {{Beach Episode}}s.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: After a new translator took over, they started writing Poemu's sister's name as "Ririkka" rather than "Ririku", and their father as "Lime" rather than "Raimu". This gets rid of the FamilyThemeNaming mentioned above.
* StalkerWithACrush: At some times, Akina's attraction to Izubuchi can come off this way, like when she records his voice so she can listen to it in bed.
* SueDonym: When Kogori asks "gal version" Yamato her name, she fumbles and comes up with "Yamada Hanako" (which also happens to be the female Japanese version of MrSmith).
* TheTease: StudentCouncilPresident Yamato Nadeshiko enjoys teasing Vice President Kaoru Kogori, who's [[LovesMyAlterEgo head-over-heels]] for her "[[SheCleansUpNicely gal version]]", but doesn't realize they're the same person.
* {{Tsundere}}: Poemu is easily annoyed (usually by Tougo), but her default setting with most people is sweet. When Tougo is moping because the place he wanted to take her was closed that day, she snapped and yelled that she came because she ''wanted'' to spend the day with him, and he should stop being gloomy and find something fun for them to do.
* {{Tuckerization}}: InUniverse. Tasaki's BL manga stars superpowered versions of Izubuchi and Sakuradaimon fighting their evil doppelgangers.
* ValentinesDayEpisode: Chapter 53 follows Tsukishima and his ValentinesDayVitriol as he's the only one not to get chocolate. Despite the aforementioned ShipSinking, there's some ShipTease when Tasaki corners him at the end of the day to give him [[spoiler:[[BaitAndSwitch a book she checked out]]]].
* VitriolicBestBuds:
** Akina and Ranko show shades of this. They are unapologetically antagonistic when it comes to their desire to win Izubuchi's affections. But outside of that, they otherwise get along reasonably well and Ranko even stops their competition to help a collapsed Akina during the sports festival.
** Despite their constant antagonizing of each other, Izubuchi shows concern for Tsukishima when he's hurt.
** Kogori once claimed that he's been trying to cut ties with Yamato for over ten years to no success, but she [[TheTease loves teasing him]] and he [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter fully respects her ever-proven ability]].
* WhenYouComingHomeDad: Shougo was kept busy with his doctor work when his kids were younger. He's painfully aware of this and has been trying to make up for it, but him being [[NoSocialSkills superbly-awkward]] has been an impediment to his aims.
* WingdingEyes: Sukegawa gets heart eyes when she bumps into Izubuchi.
* WorthyOpponent: Kogori name-drops this trope when talking about Yamato.
* YamatoNadeshiko: The student council president is literally named this, though she mostly averts it, not being very demure.
