->"Hey! I know we're all in strung-out shape, but stay frosty and alert. We can't afford to let one of those bastards in here."
-->-- Corporal Hicks, Film/Aliens

When "keep cool" just isn't awesome enough. This is a StockPhrase that a leader will typically say to his troops right as it's all about to hit the fan. It's extra badass because it encourages others to be as badass as the speaker himself. More associated with modern warfare and Space Marines than MilitaryTropes of the past.

Not to be confused with a certain Snowlems Snowlem.

* Uttered frequently by Shinji Mimura in the manga of Manga/BattleRoyale, particularly after He often addresses his uncle, who taught him to stay cool.

* Probably made famous by Corporal Hicks in the movie Film/Aliens. It also makes perfect sense coming from him, as he does remain quite frosty under pressure (compare with Hudson & Gorman). He even falls asleep during the dropship ride to the surface. Ironically Private Frost (who's referred to as 'Frosty' at one point) has already been killed when Hicks gives this trope, so this could be TemptingFate.
* In Film/Kickass2, Colonel Stars and Stripes says this prior to Justice Forever's first on-screen fight.
-->Colonel Stars and Stripes: Stay frosty team, I used to eat punks like this for breakfast.

* This one is Older Than They Think; it goes back at least to 1970, in Joseph Wambaugh's authorial debut, The New Centurions. Given Wambaugh's prior career as an L.A. cop, it probably has been cop and military slang for a long time.
-->Kilvinsky: Stay frosty. Relax. That's the way to do this job.
* In The Glitch in Sleep, John Hulme and Michael Wexler's first Seems book, Casey Lake says this to Becker just before they jump into a big body of water to investigate possible sabotage--with, as the narration points out, no idea what's at the bottom.
-->Casey: Stay frosty.\
Becker: Staying frosty, sir.
* The Specials in the Literature/Uglies trilogy have an even cooler version: stay icy.
* Wallace says goodbye to Amber like this when he leaves the cafe in Literature/DemonRoad.

* Series/2003 ("Razor"). The "stay frosty" line is used by one of the Space Marines boarding the Hybrid vessel; as his name is Hudson, it's likely a deliberate ShoutOut to Film/Aliens.
* In Series/FallingSkies, Weaver says this to Jimmy, after Jimmy thanks Weaver for giving him a second chance.
** Also used in the episode, "Collateral Damage", as they're going off to attack the nuclear power plant.
--->Tom Mason: Dan, stay frosty.\
Weaver: Like a winter in Buffalo.
* Series/Flashpoint: Subverted. The phrase is something that people would expect a member of an elite police unit to say, so the SRU use the phrase as a duress code instead. When Sgt. Parker says it on the radio, he is actually telling his team that he is held hostage.
* This was the title of an episode of Series/GenerationKill. A big theme of the book/TV series is how modern soldiers pattern themselves after war movies. Colbert actually says it enough for other Marines to consider it his stock phrase.
* MST3Ks Joel Robinson would occasionally use this line, especially when confronted with a particularly bad movie, or the villainous... Timmy.
-->Joel (to Crow): Go to the bridge, stay frosty! I've got a plan!
* Series/Parks and Recreation: Leslie says this to Ben, when Ben is trying to avoid talking about work when they're spending personal time together.
* Used in a 1979 episode of Series/TheRockfordFiles (#6.8 "The Hawaiian Headache") by government agent Gordon Lyle when giving directions to Jim Rockford: "Just stay frosty and don't panic."
* Series/Stranger Things: In Season 2, in a scene reminiscent of Film/Aliens,

* Music/VanHalen's "Stay Frosty", where the phrase is said as advice, though not from a soldier.

* The protagonist of the Marine campaign in VideoGame/AlienVsPredator 2 is outright nicknamed Andrew "Frosty" Harrison.
* One of Spider-Man's quips to rescued civilians in VideoGame/TheAmazingSpiderMan.
* One of the patrolling militia soldiers in the Seasons of Infamy DLC of VideoGame/BatmanArkhamKnight tells his comrades to stay frosty while they guard the tankard on which they're keeping Mr. Freeze captive. This tankard is run across an iceberg, so one of the other militia soldiers can't help but laugh at the unintended pun.
* Used once or twice in VideoGame/BattlefieldBadCompany2, in a hilarious scene mocking VideoGame/ModernWarfare2.
* Used by a common soldier you talk to on base in VideoGame/BionicCommando: Rearmed.
* One of the lines in VideoGame/CallOfDuty 4: VideoGame/ModernWarfare. It comes during a sequence which borrows a lot of lines from Film/Aliens, making it a ShoutOut. Later used to the point of absurdity in Modern Warfare 2, especially since the ones yelling it are the ones who need to take their own advice.
* VideoGame/CityOfHeroes has the hero Manticore saying this in the Lord Recluse Task Force when he and the rest of the remaining Freedom Phalanx realize you and your team of villains are gunning for them.
* One of Ethreain the Lich's lines in .
* Gregor in VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening says "Stay Frosting" due to his loose grasp on metaphors and English.
* Also used a lot in VideoGame/GhostReconAdvancedWarfighter.
* Agency Troopers in VideoGame/HitmanAbsolution say it when they're alerted.
* This is one of the HeroUnit Alric's quotes in VideoGame/KingdomRush. Probably because he's introduced in the desert stage at the start of the game.
* The goal of the interactive fiction game VideoGame/LittleBlueMen is to "remain. Totally. Frosty." Kind of.
* Said at least twice by Kasumi Goto in VideoGame/MassEffect2.
* The Cleaners in VideoGame/MaxPayne2TheFallOfMaxPayne instruct each other to stay frosty while they're looking for you.
* Occasionally used meaningfully in VideoGame/MechWarrior video games. Since OverHeating is a serious concern, most Mechwarriors really would prefer their rides run cool instead of hot. Very few get to stay cool, however.
* Mega in VideoGame/MegaManStarForce uses this often, especially in the third game.
* Bain might say this to the players in VideoGame/PAYDAY 2 as a Police Assault starts up.
* Used by the Terran Republic announcer in VideoGame/PlanetSide 2.
* Said quite often by the Galactic Rangers in VideoGame/RatchetAndClankUpYourArsenal.
* In VideoGame/ResidentEvil5, the helicopter pilot Kirk says this after blowing the hell out of everything with a rocket launcher.
* Max of Franchise/Sam and Max used this as his campaign slogan while running for President. "Stay Frosty, America!"
* Rouge says this at one point in VideoGame/SonicHeroes.
* Uttered by Jim Raynor in the original VideoGame/I. Bonus points for the fact that the cutscene takes place on a Volcano Planet.
** And again in the very first mission of VideoGame/StarCraftII.
** And by a generic Medic in the expansion. "Stay frosty and get the job done!"
** And ironically by the Firebat, in more than one way (both uses flame weapons and military-grade stimulants in combat).
* In VideoGame/StarFoxCommand, Falco frequently uses this line.
* Used several times in , most notably by Harabec Weathers. Becomes Pun punny when he says it to his brother, Caanon "Icehawk" Weathers.
* In VideoGame/XMenLegends II,, if you've selected Iceman as one of your four-member team in the character select screen, he'll say "Stay frosty, team!" if he's the one who's going to talk (everyone has a phrase; no knowing whose you'll get.)

* Fleur tells Eeichi this in Webcomic/OkashinaOkashi.
* Commander Foxworthy from Webcomic/SchlockMercenary elaborates on this: "I want you sharper than razors and frostier than snowmen."
* In an issue of the VideoGame/TeamFortress2 comics, Red Soldier says this to a group of elderly women he has recruited.
* In a Webcomic/Nodwick comic based on the TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons sci-fi-mashup adventure Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, Yeagar says this in one of many dialogue references to the Franchise/Alien franchise.

* In WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond, Terry tells Chelsea, who is being brainwashed and tortured at a "tough love ranch" to "stay schway until he can rescue her.
* Common line in WesternAnimation/BuzzLightyearOfStarCommand before commercial breaks.
* WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor: Operation SHAVE.
* A common line in WesternAnimation/ReBoot, generally played for humor rather than used seriously, and usually after a bad guy has been, well, frozen.
* In the WesternAnimation/SpaceGhostCoastToCoast episode "Snatch", replicating pods have taken over the studio and are waiting for our heroes to fall asleep in order to take over their bodies. They cannot leave the studio because the planet has been coated by the Blob. In the midst of this dilemma, Zorak comes up with an ingenious escape plan.
-->Zorak: Alright, here's the plan. We create a diversion by throwing the planet's orbital axis off by thirteen degrees. Actually, ten degrees should do it. You don't want to throw it off too much, because... well, you know. Now, once we've lowered the gravitational fields by say... forty gigawatts... and secured the outer perimeter... securely... well I... I think we'll be just fine. (brandishes raygun) Any questions? Okay then! Move out, lock n' load, happy birthday, and STAY FROSTY!!! (dramatic gun cock)
* In the first-person-perspective intro to the WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers episode "Viva Los Muertos!", Henchman 21 asks "Texas," a future part of Venturestein, if he's staying frosty.
