If they visit the Cretaceous, it's on TheDayTheDinosaursDied. If they visit Europe in 1939, it's at the beginning of UsefulNotes/WorldWarII. If they visit Pompeii, it's just before Mount Vesuvius erupts. Et cetera. This can also apply to fictional historical events that are very significant in the story. Sometimes, the time-travellers will even [[BeenThereShapedHistory cause the events]].
