The color blue is often associated with intelligence, wisdom, and logic. Those who are associated with the color blue tend to possess great knowledge about various subjects, from high grades in school subjects to mastery over technology and science.

Since RedIsViolent and BlueIsCalm, blue is used to represent rational characters who are more likely to use their high intellect and strategic mind to solve problems.

In fiction, characters with a blue ColorMotif tend to be made into TheSmartGuy of TheTeam or if a team isn't involved, their intelligence is their most outstanding feature in comparison to their peers. In a cast with ColorCodedCharacters, the blue character should be expected to be the smartest. If there's a red character in the same group, they're likely to form a RedOniBlueOni dynamic. However if the BlueOni is already [[BlueIsHeroic taken by]] TheHero [[RedOniBlueOni or]] TheLancer for example, then TheSmartGuy tends to default to a different cool color like green or purple.

Note that the character wearing blue or having blue traits is not enough to count for the trope. They have to be part of an ensemble, be it a whole cast or just a small group, where the only character or faction represented by blue is the smartest and majorly characterized by their high intelligence.
