''The Goddess Test'' is a 2011 Young Adult novel written by Aimee Carter.

It's always been just Kate and her mom, and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerising. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy--until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

Has a sequel entitled ''Goddess Interrupted'', with a third book scheduled for release. There are also several novellas.

!!''The Goddess Test'' contains examples of:
* AdaptationalVillainy: [[spoiler: Persephone]]. A bit funny, actually, given that it's usually [[spoiler: her husband]] who gets this treatment.
* ArtisticLicenseReligion: A lot. Apparently, [[spoiler: Demeter is the best Hades' friend]], even though in the original myth she was anything but. Also, [[spoiler: one of her names is Diana, which is the Roman name for Artemis, who, unlike Demeter in this novel, never was in love with any men, never bore any children and wasn't anything like Demeter]]. Besides, the Olympians have apparently [[spoiler: adapted the Christian idea of Seven Deadly Sins]], even though such idea would arguably suit them the least of all the mythological pantheons.
%%* BrainlessBeauty: Adonis
%%* DoggedNiceGuy: James
%%* EverybodyHatesHades: Averted.
* ImmortalitySeeker: Kate. However, she's not exactly actively seeking it out, she sort of just fell into the situation.
* ImNotHereToMakeFriends: Kate doesn't want to make friends at her new school, because she's only there for a short time.
%%* LovableAlphaBitch: Ava, to varying degrees.
* OfCorsetHurts: Kate despises corsets and dresses in general
* SadlyMythtaken: Just a little bit, but Justified. For example, Aphrodite is angry because she fell for Adonis but he chose Persephone over her... which is the exact opposite of what happened in the myth.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: All of the tests. Kate is only explicitly told about one test.
* SevenDeadlySins: [[spoiler: Turns out to be Kate's 7 tests]]
