* Most of the pilots in Webcomic/Angels2200 are referred to by their callsign or last name, as is common in real-life enlisted troops.
* Webcomic/BittersweetCandyBowl has Alec [=McCain=], who is only referred to by his first name by Sue.
* All of the government-employed characters in Doomsday, My Dear refer to each other by last name: Zahra, Bowden, Young, et cetera. A few characters refer to Khepry and Chet by their first names, but no one uses Cyril's.
* This is the norm in Majestani culture in Webcomic/CityOfSomnus - first names are only used among close friends, except for prince Paollo, Goji (who is a child) and Odette (who only has one name, or at least only remembers having one name).
* In Webcomic/GirlGenius, Gil and Tarvek are almost permanently on last-name terms with each other - justified in that there was a mutual betrayal when they were children that led to Tarvek getting sent back to his BigScrewedUpFamily, then when they met as teenagers in Paris that didn't go so well either. At the moment, they're both rivals for Agatha's affections. They do sometimes refer to each other by first name when speaking to Agatha though, usually when expressing the fact that they don't hate each other as much as they pretend.
* Parley from Webcomic/GunnerkriggCourt is called by her last name, because everyone's too nice to call her George.
* The title character of Webcomic/ItsWalky goes by Walkerton. He doesn't actually like his nickname Walky, though even his parents call him by it; there are only a few characters he actually doesn't mind using it. Almost no one calls him "David".
* Webcomic/NewSchoolKids: Frank is called by a shortening of his last name. His full name is Jonah Frankenstein.
* In Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick, Vaarsuvius refers to people they respect by title and last name. They normally refer to people they don't respect (such as Belkar, Elan, and Miko) by race or class ("the halfling," "the bard" and "the paladin," respectively). Nale is an exception, being referred to as "Nale" because he doesn't have a last name or a single class to pigeonhole him into.
* Muneca Powell of Webcomic/Pacificators is such a ProperLady, she even calls her best friend Kathy Lee by her last name. The only time Muneca doesn't refer to somebody by their last name is when speaking with children. It is implied that Muneca warms up so quickly to Daryl Smithson in part because he happily complies with this.
* Johnathan Gabriel from Webcomic/PennyArcade usually goes by "Gabe."
* Jardren Stiggs from Webcomic/ProphecyOfTheCircle prefers being called by his last name, even by friends.
* Webcomic/Rain2010: Blair Carver hates his first name and prefers to simply be referred to as Carver.
* Nolan from Webcomic/RegularGuy.
* Gage, one of the Circle Band's trumpeters in . Only his girlfriend calls him by his embarrassing first name, Clarence.
* Despite Dr. Jekyll frequently being called by his first name, Henry, in Webcomic/TheSearchForHenryJekyll, his alter-ego Hyde is almost never referred to by his given name, Edward.
* In WebComic/SupernaturalLaw by Batton Lash, Alanna Wolff, and Jeff Byrd refer to each other by their surnames, though they are clearly both friends and business partners, if not each others' LoveInterest.
* Twenty-Fifth Bam from Webcomic/TowerOfGod calls his best friend, Khun Aguero Agnes, simply Mr. Khun.
* Webcomic/TrippingOverYou: Milo refers to his stepfather as "Mr. Sinclair", not least because he was Milo's talent agent as a child actor and Milo has some lingering reservations about the change in their relationship.
* Webcomic/Unsounded: Elka is only known as Elka, which turns out to be her family name rather than her given name when she gives the full name of an uncle.
