One of the major plot points involves MoralGuardians starting a war with Canada over a movie. It was supposed to be a satire of the censorship standards of the time, but [[http://time.com/3638987/the-interview-cancelled-sony-hack/ flash forward fifteen years later....]] Double points since the ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'' creators also did ''Film/TeamAmericaWorldPolice'', a film making fun of then North Korean leader Kim Jung Il. They managed to avert [[Film/TheInterview a hack or getting the film pulled]], though.
14	** Sheila's unhealthy hatred for an animated movie resembles Creator/SeanPenn going out of his way to write an angry public letter telling Trey and Matt how angry he is about ''Film/TeamAmericaWorldPolice''.
15	** "The Eyes Of A Child", the spoof AwardBaitSong that plays over the end credits, is slightly extended for the soundtrack album, with an upbeat bridge that repeats variations on the lyric "Eye on my hand! / I've got an eye on my hand!/ But still I can't find you!". At the time this was just a complete nonsequitir, but after 2006 it started reminding people of ''Film/PansLabyrinth'', specifically a scene in which the protagonist is being hunted by the Pale Man, a child-eating monster who holds his eyes in his hands.
16	* A season 18 episode makes fun of ride-sharing apps such as Uber, in which Timmy's ride-sharing app is claimed to be illegal because it not only takes away customers from hard-working taxi drivers, but because Timmy is handicapped he can use parking spots taxi drivers can not use. The hindsight comes in nearly one year later, where in Portugal taxi drivers are claiming ''the exact same thing'' about Uber, and later Cabify, leading to the local government getting involved (sadly there are no WesternAnimation/WackyRaces involved this time). The same thing happened in Hungary - Uber eventually pulled out from the country after heavy protests from taxi drivers.
17	* Pretty much the whole main plot of Season 3's "[[Recap/SouthParkS3E5TweekVsCraig Tweek vs. Craig]]" becomes this after Season 19's "[[Recap/SouthParkS19E6TweekXCraig Tweek x Craig]]". In the former, the two are goaded into fighting each other and Clyde outright says (albeit slightly misguidedly) that they "really hate each other". In the latter, the two start dating to satisfy the town and end up as an OfficialCouple, with some later official notes even stating that Tweek is one of the only two things Craig actually cares about.

32	* Although this can be applied to many adults of the late 90s, "[[Recap/SouthParkS3E11Chinpokomon Chinpokomon]]" seemed to imply that, like many other "fads", ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' would eventually fade into obscurity. Nope, the ''Pokémon'' series is still as popular now as it was back then, with ''Pokémon'' as a whole being Creator/{{Nintendo}}'s second biggest CashCowFranchise (just after ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros''), and [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries the anime series]] actually rivals ''South Park'' [[LongRunners in terms of longevity]] (both premiered in 1997 and are still going strong). Even better, statistics and sales data show that ''Pokémon'' is just as popular with adults today as it is with children. Granted, most of those adults are probably people who got into the series as kids in the 90s, but it shows that there are adults out there who do understand ''Pokémon'''s wide appeal, unlike the adults in ''South Park''.

44	** The name of the third episode in the tBlack Friday trilogy, "Titties and Dragons", becomes even funnier when years later, ''Series/GameOfThrones'' guest star Creator/IanMcShane referred to the series as just being "tits and dragons".
45	* TheMovie was a fully-blown {{Disneyesque}} musical. Years later, we get "[[Recap/SouthParkS12E13ElementarySchoolMusical Elementary School Musical]]", which focuses entirely on how the boys react badly to everyone else in the school singing and dancing like the characters in a Disney musical.

54	* ''South Park'' making satirical cameos and jabs at Disney for a living has certainly become this in the recently released ''Film/ChipNDaleRescueRangers2022'' where they gave Randy Marsh a nonspeaking cameo during a spa scene, and an outright-plagiarized unmodified one at that since Creator/ComedyCentral and Creator/TreyParkerAndMattStone weren't listed in their reference credits nor did they made any effort to redesign nor rename him. They literally just copy and pasted him into the movie without any reason for him to be there. This coupled with the fact that Randy just so happened to be the character at the center of [[Recap/SouthParkS23E2BandInChina the show's then-most recent stab at the company]] makes it all the more apparent that ''Creator/{{Disney}}'' wanted the last laugh.

Then in 2017, it is believed that the officials are on their side meaning that the team's opponents have to defeat not only the Patriots, but the refs as well.
61	* In "[[Recap/SouthParkS4E15FatCamp Fat Camp]]" Kenny starts eating and doing gross things for money with people egging him to do it and taking pleasure in watching him. This episode premiered 6 months before the premiere of ''Series/FearFactor''. For an added bonus, Kenny was offered $50,000 dollars for one of his stunts (which got wagered down to $10); $50,000 is the prize money for winning Fear Factor.

This is the exact reason the series eventually died in 2010, with ''Warriors of Rock'' selling poorly, implying people got sick of band games and found plastic guitars inconvenient. And with the rise of ''VideoGame/{{Rocksmith}}'', more people got the kick out of playing real guitars.
