* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6qi393Z7L8&feature=related "Baba Yetu,"]] the opening theme to ''Civilization IV'', is perhaps the most heartwarming and hopeful opening theme to a war-game ever. The lyrics are [[UsefulNotes/{{Christianity}} The Lord's Prayer]], translated into Swahili.
-->''"Its a song composed by an Asian man, written in an African language, from a video game about the rise of human civilization. If that doesn't stir something in you, you have no soul."''
* Any of your cities celebrating "We Love The Despot/King/Prime Minister/Dictator/President Day" if you manage to keep them well-fed and happy enough.
* The gentle, beautiful video that plays in ''Civ II'' when you [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15S0lInhHAA discover the cure for cancer]].
** The simplicity of "One extra happy citizen in every city" manages to evoke a strong emotional response.
* When you have "Complete Kills" on (requiring every unit as well as city to be destroyed before a Civilization is gone) and take every city of a civ, leaving [[TheRemnant just a few crippled units as all that's left of it in the world]]... and [[BackFromTheBrink giving them a city]].
* Bringing a civ back from the dead by liberating them - from then on, they become near-permanent allies in gratitude.
* Optimism was a key focus in ''V'', but it is [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YxCtW1FrRUA the opening to ''Brave New World'']] that takes the cake, talking about humanity harnessing technology and arts to improve themselves, and of us putting aside differences to overcome challenges like wars and ambitious evil men. It's these kind of touches that brings tears to the anthrophiles among us.
* The opening cutscene of ''VI'' has a father and daughter discussing making their mark in history. While the father is depicted as doing great feats throughout history, one wonders what his daughter is doing. At the conclusion, it's revealed the daughter is going on a manned mission to Mars - and has a picture of her father on the pilot dashboard.
** ''Rise and Fall''[='s=] intro shows the Daughter continuing her Father's legacy of leading people into greatness, showing her unveiling the Art/StatueOfLiberty, aiding LaResistance in WWII, and delivering her Father's speech to the United Nations.
** In ''Gathering Storm'', the daughter narrates the cutscene for the Diplomatic Victory instead of her father, and it's up there with the Cultural Victory when it comes to its [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX4ErElQTpw optimism]].
* Greece's national theme in ''Civ V'' and ''VI'' is the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrPpA6bAIRM "Epitaph for Seikilos,"]] believed to have been written in memory of a woman named Euterpe, telling people to cherish their time and live to the fullest. It also happens to be the oldest known complete musical melody in human history. Now, even thousands of years after Euterpe's passing from the world, she's still in a way remembered and honoured.
* Every time a new expansion or edition of the franchise comes out, you can expect "standby" civs like America, China, Egypt, France, Rome, etc. to make a reappearance, but it's always rewarding to see which less-expected civs make the cut. Whether they're less-known civilizations like Nubia or Georgia, long-overlooked states like Australia or Canada, or nations like the Cree or Mapuche that were marginalized for much of the modern era, you can be certain that someone somewhere is ecstatic that their people are now being represented in the legendary 4X strategy game.
* As of the final patch of Civilization VI, scout units have the option to pet their CanineCompanion.
* If other leaders in your Civilization VI game have the agenda "Sympathizer" - where they'll pity other civs in a Dark Age - you can be treated to some heartwarming lines:
->'''Catherine de Medici''': "I am sending you a gift: A ring inscribed with “This Too Shall Pass.” May it comfort you in times of trouble."
->'''Jadwiga''': "Your heart must ache for the suffering of your people. Poland understands your plight, and we pray for you."
->'''Jayavarman VII''': "You are tied to the cycle of samsara now. I pray unceasingly that you will soon be liberated, and at peace."
->'''Lautaro''': "You, too, know what it means to resist the cruelty of the powerful. Mapuche respect what you do."
->'''Peter''': "A lesser leader would be unable to do what you are doing: Keeping firm control of your civilization in a time of crisis."
->'''Victoria''': "You bear the suffering of your Dark Age with such nobility! I wish my subjects were as stalwart as you!"
* When you make trades with other civilizations in ''IV'', they may say things like "this has been a slice of heaven, I mean that sincerely" or "you are the wind between my wings!".
* Random events in ''IV'' can be this.
** One involves a city in another civilization facing starvation due to crop failure or vermin. It's possible for one of your city to sacrifice all their stored food to save the other city from starvation.
** If there is war between two civilizations, it's possible to have a random event where wounded soldiers from Civilization A are taken care of (not an euphemism for killed, but genuinely taken care of) by Civilization B. It's possible to use this as a way to sign a peace treaty and gain a relationship boost with the other civilization, or to KickTheDog and deliberately involve NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished and send the healed soldiers back in the fight.
