1	* Sabina's surprise visit/invitation at the end of ''Skeleton Key'' lifting Alex out of his depressive state.
2	* After learning in ''Eagle Strike'' that Alex is planning to investigate Damian Cray on his own after [=MI6=] refuses to take him seriously, Smithers sends him some backup in the form of a specially modified bicycle with half a dozen gadgets built in, despite knowing he will probably get into serious trouble with his employers for doing so.
3	** Even before that, in ''Point Blanc''. Smithers ''was'' told to give Alex gadgets, but not weapons, so he has to ask Alex not to mention the tranq gun Harry Potter book and the exploding earring to anyone. The latter ends up saving Alex's life.
4	** At the end of ''Eagle Strike'', it turns out that although Blunt refused to take Alex seriously, Mrs Jones ''did'' continue to keep tabs on Damian Cray, thinking that whilst Alex could be mistaken, it was absolutely unthinkable he would have made it up.
5	* Alex finding a note from Jack in his pocket in ''Scorpia''.
6	-->That made him smile. It seemed it had been a long time since anything had happened to cheer him up.
7	* In ''Scorpia'', after the fighting is over, Alex peacefully floating home on the hot air balloon. He lands in a park, walks home the rest of the way, and collapses into Jack's arms.
8	* Alex admiring the view of the Earth from ''Ark Angel''.
9	* After Alex has just made an attempt on her life in ''Scorpia'' (wrongfully believing she was responsible for his father's death), as he is dragged away by three agents, Mrs Jones' first instinct is to tell them not to hurt him.
10	* In the same book, Blunt confesses to Alex that it was a mistake bringing the boy into their world and that he regrets it. Later, he tells Alex that he "did very well indeed." One of very few times that show that he's not completely heartless.
