* Exactly what do the Deadites want? In the first film, it seemed that they were pissed off at being awakened. In part two, one of them says that they desire what they don't have, life. In Army of Darkness, the Deadites are an invading horde. In the few comics I've read, the book itself is an evil overlord and the Deadites are it's subjects. And in the remake, the goal was to give flesh to the Abomination.
** It is possible all three are correct. The Deadites are so alien to human thinking it may be impossible to fully understand them. Add on that the book has time travel capabilities. Did Ash awakening them in the present cause them to terrorize the past? Are there different factions of them? One can easily write all three are correct. The Deadites were pissed they were woken up, but once they remembered what life was like they wanted it because they like to terrorize people which you can only do if you are alive.
** I remember reading somewhere that in general, in the originals at least, what they do is alway for shits and giggles, thats why they tend to torment people rather than killing them straight away, its only really in larger populations they tend to kill first, remember for the first two films, it was only a tiny group of people, but in [=AoD=] and expanded media that they go right for the kill.
* What exactly happened to Professor Knowby? We know that the evil killed him, but how?
** In Ash vs. Evil Dead, Knowby was killed when Ash accidentally set his chained wife free. Of course, there's an indication that death isn't the end of the torment those those who die in proximity to the Evil (be it by their own hand or by the Evil itself).
* Before it is forced into a fleshy form by Annie in the second movie, did the evil force have a visible form? Because in various scenes in the first movie, like when Cheryl is being chased, when Shelly is attacked through her window, and at the end when Ash is attacked, they clearly see something approaching them. And in the second movie, Ash can clearly see that something is chasing him during the car and cabin chase. We never get a good look at what is chasing them as all we ever get is a POV shot. So what exactly are the characters seeing in those sequences?
* The malevolent forces plaguing Ash are specifically stated to be demons (who yes, possess people and turn them into zombie-like meat puppets but they do this while they're alive), not ghosts. How do you get "evil dead" from that? Anything that could be called "dead" only shows up in Film/WithinTheWoods, a conceptual short film the crew did first (where they were ghosts) and movie 3 (Film/ArmyOfDarkness where they possess corpses). Do the film-makers go with the interpretation that a demon is a fallen angel and the term "fallen" can also mean "dead?" Or is it a case of ArtifactTitle?
** Not really. Essentially, the evil is dead, even by their own point of view as they state in the second film ("We want was is yours... LIFE!"). So, if the Evil itself considers itself dead, they're not exactly alive. Plus, it also depends on what your definition of "life" and "death" is.

* Can someone please tell me if the spin-off comics are canon?
