* Where were the other residents during the fire?
** It is implied that there are none.
** Then who did all the shoes belong to?
*** It is also highly debatable as to whether the fire is even real in the first place, or rather symbolic of Mundt's tortured and dangerous inner psyche (note that the fire emerges up through the elevator along with him, and that the flames flare up when he does). The Hotel Earle as a whole seems to emulate Mundt, right down to dripping the same gooey stuff from the walls as Mundt does from his infected ear.
*** The fire also does something physically impossible. It continues to burn without consuming any of the walls.
* Why does Charlie free Barton from the handcuffs and let him live at the end after [[spoiler: killing off several of Barton's friends and possibly his parents and uncle]]? Is it because Charlie thinks that Barton has finally learned his intended "lesson", or some other equally strange reason that only makes sense to Charlie?
* Barton gets out a copy of a Gideon's Bible and opens it on Genesis. Doesn't the Gideon's bible only have the New Testament and the Psalms?
** Only the little ones they hand out to people, I think. I recall hotels/motels that have whole Bibles from the Gideons.
* Barton wants a film about his life instead of a wrestling picture. Couldn't he just go to the library to properly research wrestling?
** The "Devil on the Canvas" scene suggests that doing so would be a waste of time - Barton tried to research what exactly is expected of a wrestling picture but he ''just doesn't get it''.
* The scene where Barton is dancing at the USO is confusing. That sailor wanted to dance with the same woman Barton was dancing with and both he and Barton seemed to think the woman had no choice in the matter. The sailor asks Barton, not the woman; neither of them talks directly to her at all. She didn't even talk. Was she the ultimate NeutralFemale?
