* Regarding the OldSaveBonus, Episode Metal. [[RuleOfCool While the idea of Metal Sonic being playable is cool and all]]... Why the heck is he fighting his own boss? [[AIIsACrapshoot He didn't betray Eggman yet, did he]]?
** That would imply that he is fighting Eggman. We know nothing about the game except "Metal Sonic's playable! Weeee!"
*** The Episode Metal campaign has no boss fights.
*** And for all we know, the Badniks Metal Sonic faces could probably just be in his way, and Eggman [[BadBoss doesn't care what happens to them.]]
*** [[YouHaveFailedMe Well, those Badniks of his DID let the real Sonic get through them, so...]]
* Again, about Episode Metal... The trailer revealing it showed Metal Sonic, broken, in [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehogCD Stardust Speedway]] as he should be. There is one problem with this picture; Stardust Speedway is in its BadFuture. ''That is contradictory to what actually happened'' in ''[[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehogCD Sonic CD]]'', is it not?
** It's never really been said which ending to Sonic CD is canon. In fact, the entire purpose of Episode 2 is to show where CD fits in.
*** Besides, VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006 was supposed to have been erased from the timeline, and yet Crisis City still made it into VideoGame/SonicGenerations. Granted, the events of that game was due to [[spoiler:the two Eggmen messing with time]], but still.
** Maybe Sonic opted to collect the Time Stones rather than changing the futures of each individual act and didn't get the last one until some point in Metallic Madness? In that case, all of Eggman's changes would be retroactively undone. This still works with Episode Metal as it's implied that Robotnik was reaching through time to retrieve Metal Sonic. He probably snatched Metal up not too long after his battle, but not have done it until after Sonic 2, and 3&K.
*** [[ThatOneLevel Then how did he get 50 rings in Metallic Madness]]?
*** Likely, he got 'em because Sonic is a badass that probably managed it, [[GameplayAndStorySegregation regardless of what the players actually did]].
*** Can confirm. It may be difficult, but it possible for Sonic to obtain the last 1 or 2 Time Stones in Metallic Madness. It's even required to get the last Time Stone in Metallic Madness Act 2 in the remake if you want to obtain the "Saviour of the Planet" achievement.
* In ''Sonic the Hedgehog 4'', Episode Metal, you play as Metal Sonic, and working for Dr. Eggman. Why are the badniks still attacking me?
** This troper has two theories.
*** 1. As Metal Sonic was still heavily damaged during the events of Sonic CD, Eggman programmed the badniks to fight him, to warm him up.
*** 2. Eggman must have programmed them to attack any blue hedgehog or orange fox. He failed to put "organic" in the blue hedgehog part.
*** He did made Gamma and Beta fight each other in Adventure, seems that Eggman like to make his robots fight each other just for his own amusement.
*** Actually, he made them fight each other as a test.
** Eggman's probably just really lazy. Most of his robots are probably programmed to attack almost anything that moves. But he doesn't care since A) he knows Metal Sonic will just cut right on through them, and B) he can always just crank out more robots.
*** While I don't know about the OG Badniks, his robots in later games (timeline-wise), like ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006'' and ''VideoGame/SonicUnleashed'', are shown to not attack anyone until Eggman gives the orders, and even then, they will not intentionally harm anyone Eggman hasn't given the green light for. In both versions of ''Unleashed'', there are [=NPCs=] in Arid Sands Act 1 who are standing in close proximity to some of these robots, and they leave the citizens alone (though they'll cause a lot of property damage if that's what it takes to attack Sonic). In ''VideoGame/SonicColors'', these robots are even used as the amusement park's staff. I would guess that even in earlier-set games, Eggman's robots could follow direct orders from him. Hence, I'd say those Badniks were ordered to attack Metal Sonic. Eggman probably enjoyed watching the sheer power of what is arguably his proudest creation.
*** It's possible that the later models had significantly more advanced AI (thus things like their ability to think tactically and operate weaponry), whereas old-type Badniks are more akin to murderous roombas that simply follow a pre-programmed route and attempt to attack anything along that path.
* If Sonic 4 takes place right after Sonic 3, why are Sonic and Eggman in their older forms?
** Because they Retconned all of the characters to look newer.
*** Maybe from a mainline standpoint, it takes place after Sonic 3, with the spin-off games (Triple Trouble, Labyrinth, Tails Adventures, Knuckles Chaotix, Blast, Championship, 3D Blast, R, the concepts for X-treme) serving as in-between filler. Perhaps Sonic 4 is the first timeskip game for Modern Sonic.
* What was the power in the temple? Just some random magic power lying around?
** I have a personal theory, [[ContinuitySnarl But that would involve mixing continuities.]]
** Maybe the [[Videogame/SonicMania Phantom]] [[Videogame/SonicForces Ruby]] in a non-crystalized form?
* Wouldn't everyone at the White Park Zone freeze to death waiting in line for the rides?
** Not when they all have winter clothes on.
* At the beginning of Episode Metal, Eggman sends some machine to Little Planet that repairs Metal Sonic and calls him back. We see Metal Sonic broken in Stardust Speedway's Bad Future, until he's fixed and returns to the Earth, leading to Episode Metal and Episode II. Even ignoring the debates about which future is canon, how does that make any sense!? Sonic 4 takes place in the ''present'', not the ''future''!
** Unless there was enough time for the "Present" to become the "Future" by that point.
