Examples of GenreMashup in VideoGames:
----
!Sorted
* VideoGame/ANNOMutationem is an action-adventure taking place in a science-fiction PostCyberpunk world with sophisticated technology, high-technical mega corporations, and produced specialty equipment found within yies are the standard with additional ActionRPG elements including The Mysterious Console DLC adding in roguelike to the mix. It is also shown supernatural aspects are present as well, with various documentations explaining the world has experienced a number of extraordinary phenomena heavily inspired by the Website/SCPFoundation.
* VideoGame/TheSimpsonsHitAndRun is a platform/action/adventure/racing/sandbox game.
* Some entries in the Tony Hawk series, like VideoGame/TonyHawksUnderground, use elements of sports, platform, adventure, and score-attack games.
* VideoGame/Portal 1 and VideoGame/Portal 2 are FPS-puzzle-platformers.
* VideoGame/Clonk started out as a 2D fighting game much like VideoGame/Worms, but also contains elements of a strategy game, especially in the rounds with a "Settlement" or a "Mining" goal, adventure game in the rounds with a set story, a plain wide open sandbox game, and with all the expansion packs and downloadable content, you can well give it fantasy, western, cyberpunk, racing, heck, even zombie survival game elements as well.
* VideoGame/MondoAgency is a Deconstruction of the FPS genre that's also a MindScrew puzzle game with platforming and SurrealHorror.
* VideoGame/DefenseOfTheAncients, a mod for VideoGame/Warcraft III: It's an online game played in teams that contains elements of RealTimeStrategy, third person action and Role Playing Games. It ended up starting what are now called "MultiplayerOnlineBattleArena" games, but for a while were just called "[=DotA=] clones." [=DotA=] itself was called an "[=AoS=] clone" as it duplicated the mechanics of the "Aeon of Strife" map from VideoGame/StarCraft.
* Videogame/Killer7 is an ActionAdventure Shooter FirstPersonShooter, yet at the same time only includes some elements from all three genres, making it difficult to classify. It is also a MindScrew, and includes some Franchise/ResidentEvil-esque SurvivalHorror elements as well.
* Videogame/KnightsInTheNightmare defies easy description. It's a Real Time/TurnBasedStrategy Hybrid which incorporates BulletHell elements because the enemy is shooting at the game cursor, not the units temporarily brought to life to attack back. There are RPGElements for the units being controlled, but there's some stuff that can't even properly be classified, like hitting a big red/blue switch for Law and Chaos that completely changes the hit ranges and attack types for your characters across the map, or that enemy placement is decided by a roulette system.
** If you want an easier description, the general gameplay (not including t), funk (he story) is: VideoGame/Ikaruga (minus the Bullet Absorb) meets VideoGame/Persona 3 (combining souls to create one...this sub-system is too complicated to explain) meets VideoGame/FinalFantasyTactics (it's not exactly turn-based, but it acts like one heavily) with an EverybodysDeadDave (with several exceptions, you control souls) twist in a RealTimeStrategy (HEAVY emphasis) environment that also includes a InterfaceScrew.
* Videogame/Fahrenheit has some elements of VideoGame/MonkeyIsland style adventuring, VideoGame/GodOfWar-esque action button mini-games, the odd piece of VideoGame/MetalGearSolid type stealth, with a grainy cinematic sheen to the whole package...ambitious is not the word. Somehow, it works.
* Videogame/Eversion is a platformer, puzzle, and game, all at once.
* VideoGame/RabbidsGoHome is a Platformer, RacingGame, AdventureGame, and VideoGame/KatamariDamacy-like collectathon.
* VideoGame/RiverCityRansom is a semi-open world BeatEmUp with RPG-style character progression; players used money earned from defeating enemies to buy food to upgrade various stats for their characters.
* VideoGame/LiveALive is, at its core, a JRPG. The different time periods the game takes place across, however, draw inspiration from different genres, such as emphasizing stealth in the Edo Japan chapter, elements of FightingGame[=s=] in the Modern Day chapter, and SurvivalHorror elements in the Distant Future chapter.
* Videogame/Shenmue. Aside from being one of the earliest examples of a modern WideOpenSandbox game, it also touted AdventureGame mechanics and VisualNovel aesthetics, QuickTimeEvent action sequences, beat'em-up mechanics inspired by VideoGame/VirtuaFighter, and plenty of interactive minigames to keep you busy. It was revolutionary enough to be labelled as its very own genre by creator Yu Suzuki: Full Reactive Eyes Entertainment, or F.R.E.E.
* The VideoGame/LikeADragon series, being a SpiritualSuccessor to Shenmue, combines elements of a WideOpenSandbox game, RPG-style character progression, and BeatEmUp-style combat inspired by classics such as VideoGame/StreetsOfRage, in addition to several minigames based on sports, bar games, a RhythmGame for karaoke, and even DatingSim elements for hostess clubs.
* VideoGame/BatmanArkhamAsylum is often classified as an action adventure as the game is about equal parts combat and interacting with the environment. However, the game mixes in elements of stealth and survival horror, contains RPGElements, has rhythm-based combat, and is also a Metroidvania game.
* VideoGame/Persona 2 is an RPG UrbanFantasy about saving the world and facing your fears and with psychological elements and it's a horror game like the other Megatens and it's got elements of romance. Confusing stuff. VideoGame/Persona 3 and the Persona games that followed are all that but with dating sim mechanics. Hmm...
* VideoGame/Nier and VideoGame/NierAutomata are Action-[=RPGs=] with elements of a ThirdPersonShooter and BulletHell games.
* VideoGame/SakuraWars is a VisualNovel-style adventure game with occasional point-and-click segments and regular TurnBasedStrategy sequences set in a Steampunk-style AlternateHistory version of Japan in TheRoaringTwenties. With mechs!
* Videogame/MondayNightCombat at first looks like another ThirdPersonShooter, but teamwork is vital, playing deathmatch style tends to do as much harm as good, you're effectively fighting on a two-sided TowerDefense game, you've got to upgrade your abilities and buy bots with money you earn during battle, and topping it all off it's class-based to keep things balanced.
* Videogame/FantasyEarthZero: Most of the game is typical MMO stuff, but the main heart of the game is basically 100-man PvP RTS/Tower Defense.
* Although VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou is commonly classified as an ActionRPG, the combat, particularly on the bottom screen, is quite reminiscent of side-scrolling Beat Em Ups.
* VideoGame/Penumbra is an Adventure SurvivalHorror StealthBasedGame, with all the in-game manipulation controls and motions being based on dynamic real time physics.
** VideoGame/AmnesiaTheDarkDescent could also be considered a Adventure SurvivalHorror StealthBasedGame with some real time puzzles. Made by the same company appropriately enough.
* VideoGame/Sacrifice is a fantasy third person RPG, RTS game.
* VideoGame/BrutalLegend starts as a Hack-and-Slash game with a dash of racing, but later becomes a RTS-Hack and Slash game with some racing side missions and occasional rhythm-based segments.
** An in-universe example, the crappy FakeBand Kabbage Boy that Eddie is stuck working for in the opening cutscene actually has their song unlockable for the in-game radio (Eddie even audibly groans when you unlock it). If you sort songs by genre, it's listed under "Second Wave of American Tween Melodic Rap Metalcore". It's the only song in that category, of course.
* VideoGame/Achron is superficially an RTS, but the time travel mechanics make it play quite differently. The creators call it a "Meta Time Strategy Game".
* Videogame/AsurasWrath is a HackAndSlash/ BeatEmUp game mixed with RailShooter styled gameplay and a lot of ActionCommands throughout the game, as well as no RPGElements like other Hack and Slashers like VideoGame/DevilMayCry, VideoGame/Bayonetta or VideoGame/GodOfWar. You could say it's more of an interactive Anime than a traditional action game.
* VideoGame/DarkCloud and its sequel, VideoGame/DarkChronicle, are ActionRPG dungeon-crawlers with city-building mechanics.
* Videogame/Pathologic and Videogame/Turgor, by Ice Pick Lodge. They're both first person action-adventure surreal/lovecraftian horror philosophy art games where the aim isn't really to kill things but you're probably going to be doing that in the process of whatever other endeavor you have.
* Getter Love!! is a combination of a board game, a dating simulator, a few free-motion mini-games, and all kinds of hilarity, including hip-wiggling panda bears. Plan out where you want to go, use item cards to promote your relationships or screw your opponents over, talk to your friends or one of seven girls, take the girl of your choice out to places, buy presents for your girl of choice, and even run into various random folks. Watch out for the resident Gonk who wants to harass you Jerkass and fuck up your relationships! All kinds of wacky hijinx ensues until someone confesses their love, after which either or .
* VisualNovel/HatofulBoyfriend: Oh, look, another VisualNovel / DatingSim. Oops, it has just turned into a game. And just like that, now, it's And, after you thought it can't get any weirder, it turns into a .
* Videogame/DeadlyPremonition is a survival horror adventure wide-open life sim--and that's just the gameplay. The story attached to it is a murder mystery police procedural horror-fantasy romance that ping-pongs between nightmarish tragedy and screwball comedy, with every mood in between.
* VideoGame/DragonsDogma is an open-world action RPG, not dissimilar to VideoGame/Skyrim, with boss fights inspired by VideoGame/MonsterHunter.
* VideoGame/SwordOfTheSamurai is simultaneously an action game with (nonfunctional) stealth elements, a primitive RTS, and a turn-based strategy game that was the SpiritualPredecessor to the VideoGame/TotalWar series.
* VideoGame/LANoire is a deft mix of classic point-and-click PC mystery games with some driving and shooting sequences mixed in for fun.
* The Franchise/RatchetAndClank series has elements of both Platformers and Shooters, with some RPGElements and minigames that branch into even more genres. VideoGame/RatchetAndClankFullFrontalAssault adds TowerDefense elements on top of all this.
* The soundtrack for the Platform/Nintendo 64 game The New Tetris combines various styles of traditional music from around the world with either Big Beat or Jungle/Drum 'n' Bass.
* Both Videogame/BattleZone1998 and its sequel are hybrid FPS/RTS games; the player is a FrontlineGeneral piloting a HoverTank while simultaneously commanding a small task force of other hover tanks and a trio of mobile factories.
* VideoGame/MetalGearSolidVThePhantomPain is a StealthBasedGame set in a WideOpenSandbox.
* The VideoGame/Commandos series (minus the SpinOff Commandos Strike Force) is somewhere between RealTimeStrategy and StealthBasedGame. It becomes its own genre (the other most well-known games of this genre being the VideoGame/Desperados series).
* The VideoGame/SakuraWars series combines elements of visual novels, dating simulators, point-and-click adventure games, and turn-based strategy games. The soft reboot replaces turn-based combat for real-time VideoGame/DynastyWarriors-inspired hack-and-slash with light platforming, but otherwise retains elements of the other aforementioned genres.
* Folk Tale is a city-builder and survival game, as you must build a village with various services, harvest resources, keep your denizens happy and well-fed, while your manpower is one of your resources. It also has a typical StrategyRPG gameplay, as each villager has stats, experience levels, inventory slots, and can be manually controlled while they aren't working; also, some of the available jobs are purely military, instead of classical services like farmer, miner, lumberjack, hunter, etc.
* The X-Universe series following the initial installment introduced RealTimeStrategy and FourX elements to the old-fashioned space simulator formula; you start out with one puny little ship and next to no credits, and grow it into a massive NGOSuperPower controlling dozens of Mile Long Ships and hundreds of Space Truckers.
* VideoGame/Borderlands. From a story standpoint, it's a BlackComedy SpaceWestern. From a gameplay standpoint it's a First Person Shooter with classic RPG elements (although that latter category is rapidly becoming a game genre in itself).
* VideoGame/Overwatch is an unlikely mixture of a team-based FirstPersonShooter in a Creator/Pixar-like setting. The roster of colorful characters can be compared to that of a FightingGame, while each character brings a unique influence into the game to give it something with far more personality than your standard FPS.
* VideoGame/LittleBigPlanet: Try explaining this to someone who hasn't really played it. The first game is a platformer, but encourages you to build whatever kind of level you want, whether it be an actual level in the vein of Mario or just a music or set-piece showcase. The second game, however, looks to embrace this wholeheartedly, as it was marketed as a platform for games rather than a platform game. The main game showcases some unique gameplay styles, including a side-scrolling shooter that looks like a retro arcade game. The overall effect is a mashup of Gmod for consoles, Mario, winks and nods toward Creator/MontyPython-style humor, and sinister weaponized cuteness.
* The Guild series is about managing a medieval family on several generations to become a successful business dynasty and an important local political actor. Its gameplay is a RPG (each dynasty members' has stats and perks), management game (running your businesses, creating gold, and managing your crew), and Sims-like (finding a spouse and have children, as well as managing relationships to have friends and allies) hybrid.
* VideoGame/SigmaStarSaga is a mix of JRPG and horizontal shoot-em-up mechanics.
* VideoGame/BattleChefBrigade is a mix of action-platformer with puzzle game mechanics; players hunt monsters for ingredients, then use a puzzle game interface to cook the ingredients in an Series/IronChef-style competition.
* The obscure Sega CD game Revengers of Vengeance featured a campaign mode that combined a fighting game with RPG mechanics and vertical shmup levels.
* VideoGame/Prismata takes concepts from real time strategy and card games, even though it's a turn based game with no cards.
* VideoGame/StreetFighter6: World Tour mode is a combination of a FightingGame and a WideOpenSandbox ActionRPG, not dissimilar to VideoGame/LikeADragon.
* VideoGame/SuperDarylDeluxe is a metroidvania/RPG/sidescrolling brawler with an extremely surreal style.
* VideoGame/YokusIslandExpress is Metroidvania meets pinball.
* VideoGame/ThePerfectTower is a tower-defense idle game, or, as the game calls it, "a somewhat minimalistic incremental defense game."
* VideoGame/AstralChain is a StylishAction HackAndSlash in a similar vein to VideoGame/DevilMayCry, VideoGame/Bayonetta, and VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance, but combines it with ActionRPG elements such as a skill tree, an AI-controlled companion, and a crafting system for your weapons.
* VideoGame/LoveLiveSchoolIdolFestivalAllStars is an RPG but in the form of a RhythmGame with VisualNovel elements mixed in. Especially bizarre since its sister game VideoGame/LoveLiveSchoolIdolFestival is a straight rhythm game.
* VideoGame/DungeonFighterOnline is an MMORPG that uses BeatEmUp gameplay and has FightingGame-style command inputs for moves.
* VideoGame/LoopHero is a roguelike with auto-battler RPG combat, a DeckbuildingGame[=/=]TowerDefense aspect where cards place terrain that alter item and enemy spawns, and a Macrogame that emphasizes resource collection and base building.
* VideoGame/ULTRAKILL is an old-school FirstPersonShooter with all the flashiness and insanity of StylishAction.
* VideoGame/CultOfTheLamb is a mixture of action-RPG roguelite, life simulation, and management game, where the titular Lamb alternates between crusading in the Lands of the Old Faith through randomly generated dungeons and returning the resources to build up and supply his growing cult of followers. The player will need to cook for the cult, order the harvesting and generation of resources and construction of buildings, and make sure everyone is also happy, healthy, and ultimately, loyal, unquestioning worshippers to the Lamb's patron, the One Who Waits.
* Transient is an AdventureGame in a Cyberpunk/CosmicHorrorStory setting.
* VideoGame/CreeperWorld is a TowerDefense game in which you use various weapons platforms combined with terrain features to keep the relentless Creeper at bay. It's also a RealTimeStrategy game with base building, resource management, and squad-level tactics to expand across the map and eradicate the Creeper or accomplish some other goal.
* VideoGame/AzureDreams is an RPG where the core gameplay loop is a mix of Roguelike and Mon raising, but later in the game it adds in a DatingSim and even some Management Sim elements (constructing new buildings in town).

!!Examples from GenreBusting not yet sorted:
* Videogame/LittleBigPlanet. On the surface, it's a platformer, but you can make racing levels, shooting levels, and even a take on Mario if you want to.
* Videogame/Pikmin is a RealTimeStrategy action-adventure puzzle game, all at the same time. Pikmin 2 adds DungeonCrawling elements into the mix too.
* Franchise/Metroid:
** VideoGame/MetroidPrime is a 3D Metroidvania FirstPersonShooter game, primarily unusual due to Metroidvania games traditionally being 2D.
** VideoGame/MetroidOtherM is a 3D Metroidvania that is only occasionally a FirstPersonShooter, sometimes designed to play more like TwoPointFiveD, with elements of BeatEmUp.
* All the original VideoGame/MightAndMagic games switch from swords and sorcery to sci-fi towards the end. Trade in your maces and bows for blasters.
* Rockstar's VideoGame/RedDeadRedemption. WideOpenSandbox with focus on typical RPG elements like looting, morality and NPC interaction and the inclusion of a hunting system while still maintaining the third person shooter aspect and an even wider world designed for exploration and adventure..
* Videogame/Thief: Although it has since been recognized as a "first person stealth" game, journalists had trouble sorting it into any recognisable genre when it came out in November 1998. It plays from a first person perspective, yet it doesn't award killing like an FPS. It features lots of various puzzles, yet isn't an AdventureGame. It includes RPGElements, yet isn't an RPG at all. Along with VideoGame/MetalGearSolid, Thief practically defined the stealth game genre as we know it today.
* VideoGame/DeadlyRoomsOfDeath is part puzzle game, part hack and slash, part turn based strategy, and ultimately none of those things. The only classification it can consistently fit is that of extremely difficult games.
* Videogame/BrutalLegend is inclined towards being a RealTimeStrategy game, but your skills at HackAndSlash, Rhythm Games, and driving are often more important than [=RTS=]-related skills. The single player campaign being a WideOpenSandbox further complicates slapping a genre label onto it.
* Videogame/ZenoClash is a StonePunk first person melee brawler with shooting elements.
* Videogame/Planetarium bills itself as an online "story-puzzle", and is about equally balanced in both WebOriginal and PuzzleGame elements. You can follow the unfolding story and ignore the puzzles, or focus more on the puzzles than the story surrounding them, or enjoy both the story and puzzles.
* VideoGame/Soulcaster has elements of a TowerDefense while playing nothing like a normal TowerDefense, and elements of a top-down ActionGame while playing nothing like a normal top-down ActionGame.
* NiGHTS was designed as roughly a platformer, but is far removed from the genre's core concepts: As you're in midair nearly all of the time, there's no actual running, jumping, or functional platforms. The stages loop endlessly, as your goal is collection rather than getting to the end. You're totally invincible, your only real opponent being the timer counting down. You must reach certain score quotas to advance. And sometimes, you transform into a bobsled. Indeed, you have just as many who say it's a platformer as those who say it isn't, and the only other genre it fits even microscopically into is as a HorizontalScrollingShooter with no shooting and total free roaming.
* VideoGame/Gobtron. You play as a giant pink monster and defend against waves of enemies by using its snot, spit, burps and farts.
* Don't Shoot the Puppy doesn't fit into any genres of video games; in fact, it's barely a video game at all as you will trigger a sentry gun shooting a puppy if you so much as move the mouse, regardless of distractions like . As an extra middle finger to the player, .
* VideoGame/BlastCorps starts out hard to classify, what with the main goal being to rush in front of a runaway missile carrier with a motley assortment of increasingly-bizarre demolition vehicles to level anything in its path before it crashes. Then it starts turning into a puzzle as levels feature things like arranging cargo ships so the carrier can roll over water. Then it gains exploration elements as you hunt down the scientists, [=RDUs=], and anything you haven't smashed to the ground yet. Then come the vehicle racing levels...
* VideoGame/Killer7 is notoriously hard to describe. Much of the game is a RailShooter, except that you can freely move back and forth along the rails, which branch off in different directions, and the camera is in the third person when you're not aiming at things. Along with shooting enemies, there's also adventure and puzzle elements added as well that make it much like a SurvivalHorror game. The story, meanwhile, deals with a mix of foreign politics, government conspiracies, uber-powerful assassins, supernatural living weapons and just balls-out incomprehensible, nightmarish insanity.
* The now-famous Warcraft map/mod VideoGame/DefenseOfTheAncients was this, though it was actually preceded by Aeon of Strife, a map for VideoGame/StarCraft. Its popularity spawned a genre variously known as MultiplayerOnlineBattleArena games ([=MOBAs=]) or Action Real-Time Strategy games (ARTS). Many of these games are called DOTA-clones due to their similarity to the original Defense of the Ancients game, right down to copying the map out of it (and frequently, including many heroes which are extremely similar to the heroes present in the original game), but the genre has since expanded to include games such as Awesomenauts, which are certainly in the same genre and yet decidedly not clones.
* VideoGame/DeusEx director Creator/WarrenSpector said in an analysis of the game, "Conceptually, Deus Ex is a genre-busting game (which really endeared us to the marketing guys) -- part immersive simulation, part role-playing game, part first-person shooter, part adventure game."
* VideoGame/NappleTaleArsiaInDaydream on Platform/SegaDreamcast bills itself as a "Lovely Pop Action RPG". In practice, that translates to "TwoAndAHalfD gameer where you have to talk to everyone and everything is really cute." It's critically acclaimed! Really!
* VideoGame/Portal and VideoGame/Portal 2 are both technically puzzle games, but use an FPS engine and follow (or deliberately subverts) many of that genre's conventions.
* VideoGame/Eversion is three types of games at once: platformer, puzzle, and [[spoiler:horror]].
* VideoGame/CryptOfTheNecroDancer is a cross between Nethack and Dance Dance Revolution.
* VideoGame/AIWarFleetCommand has elements of RealTimeStrategy, FourX, a hint of SurvivalHorror, and TowerDefense, of all things.
* VideoGame/TheLastFederation is an inversion of a FourX game; the AIs are competing for the solar system, while your role is to make the scripted events that prevent victory, and encourage a Federation to be formed. Throw in a political simulator and TurnBasedCombat. Stir for taste.
* VideoGame/DevilsThird is a ThirdPersonShooter and a HackAndSlash game with a sprinkle of BeatEmUp as well. The player character is capable of changing from third-person shooter gameplay to VideoGame/NinjaGaiden-style swordplay in an instant and deal with foes both up close and at range (plus using GoodOldFisticuffs as well).
* In keeping with Simogo's motto of not making games of a specific genre if doing so would impede the gaming experience itself, VideoGame/YearWalk can most accurately be described as a point-and-click first-person SurvivalHorror and adventure iOS side-scroller puzzle game.
* Is VideoGame/OneFingerDeathPunch a BeatEmUp? Or a RhythmGame? Or both?
** WordOfGod is that it's not a RhythmGame because the music is disconnected from the gameplay.
* VideoGame/AsurasWrath:
** Along with traditional BeatEmUp gameplay, there are RailShooter elements as well.
** Other elements of this include that there are no ActionRPG elements like VideoGame/DevilMayCry or VideoGame/Bayonetta have, (like getting new weapons or collecting stuff like a HeartContainer), nor is there a upgrade of stats. Asura's stats instead change depending on the episode.
** One can also add in FightingGame thanks to a coming DLC that pits Asura against Ryu, complete with the health bar, super gauge and Ultra gauge from VideoGame/StreetFighterIV (although in Asura's case, the latter two are replaced by his Burst and Unlimited Mode Gauges).
** A review has pointed out that while this might not really be considered a "game," but as a multimedia experience, it is a memorable one.
* VideoGame/GuiltyGear 2: Overture is part hack-and-slash and part single-player "massive online battle arena" (think League of Legends, which came out the same year) with a button to give the player characters race car controls, and a separate screen to control your MOBA units with a real-time strategy interface. Keep in mind the rest of the franchise is your bog-standard FightingGame series.
* VideoGame/MarcEckosGettingUpContentsUnderPressure: a blend of graffiti mini-games, combo-based brawling, Prince of Persia-style platforming, a bit of stealth and ExperiencePoints thrown in for good measure.
* VideoGame/DungeonOfTheEndless is part Roguelike, part RealTimeStrategy, part TurnBasedStrategy, and part TowerDefense. This video sums it up quite nicely.
* VideopGame/PixelJunkNomNomGalaxy is an odd game that combines elements of tower defense, buisness simulation, and farming, all layed with a Terraria-style sandbox-survival gameplay.
* In terms of gameplay, Franchise/KingdomHearts is a pretty standard hack and slash (though Chain of Memories did include some kind of weird card game sysstem on top of it somehow), but in terms of plot it's as genre defying as it is confusion. The hero travels through multiple worlds on a spaceship visiting and helping local populace which sounds pretty straight sci-fi, but he also knows magic and wields a giant key like a sword. There's no advance technology despite the spaceship except when there is like in the Tron worlds. Artificial life is present and is created both scientifically and via magic. It doesn't just stop at science fantasy though. The hero fights the evil in peoples hearts which can manifest as cute little creatures a foot tall, to complete eldritch abominations, to weird armored...things? There's some solid horror present with the sort of things that can be done to a person in this universe. Some games end in friendship conquers all type plots while others are absolute tragedies. Given the fact that by very concept the story is about following the plot of multiple Disney movies it inevitably is going to pull from a very wide range of themes, genres and aesthetics leaving one with something that doesn't seem to fit into any category even when it uses completely original characters and settings.
* VideoGame/Gumshoe is a platformer[=/=]LightGunGame hybrid. The player character constantly moves forward (turning around if he runs into a wall) and the player makes him jump by shooting him. The player also has to keep the player character safe by shooting down any enemies and preventing him from walking/falling into any hazard tiles.
* VideoGame/SuperSurpriseParty has a platforming segment, a puzzle segment, and an item-catching segment.
* VideoGame/Undertale and VideoGame/Deltarune are turn-based Role Playing Games whose defensive ActionCommands are a BulletHell minigame.
* VideoGame/WantedDead: The game's combat is a blend of ThirdPersonShooter and HackAndSlash combat with a sword, with the player being able to switch between both forms of combat to deal enemies, from getting into cover and shooting them up or getting up close and cutting them to pieces.
