* In a mostly dark and disturbing movie, the scene where Travis talks to a Secret Service man in a park is hilarious, from his ingenuous questions ('Is it hard to get to be in the Secret Service?') to the preposterous name and address he gives ('Henry Krinkle'). When the Secret Service man points out that the zip code Travis gives has the wrong number of digits, he just repeats it without the last digit and says, quite straightfaced, 'I was thinking of my telephone number.'
* Easy Andy trying to sound like a firearm expert when he sells Travis some guns in a hotel room before almost desperately trying to sell him drugs and finally a Cadillac.
** Even funnier if you are familiar with actual firearm terminology, because he repeatedly calls the gun magazines "clips", a common pet-peeve amongst real firearm enthusiasts.
* When Iris calls Travis square, annoyed, he turns it around on her and says "YOU'RE square!"
* Travis trying to make small talk with the concessions woman at the porno theater. And then thinking it would be a good idea to take Betsy there for a date.
* A meta one but Creator/AlbertBrooks telling the story about how Creator/PaulSchrader praised his performance as Tom by saying he is the one character he could not understand. To which Brooks pointed out in his own amusement at that was to respond to Paul saying "You couldn't understand Tom but understood Travis?"
