Go To

* The fake news segment about Coca-Cola.
* After his mother gets out of the apartment and witnesses loads of pieces of Western culture... and then the statue of Lenin just flies past her.
* The mom starts taking up her former free time work as community consultant (of a sort) from her flat. A neighbour comes, wishing for help with a letter of complaint about a poorly-fitting pullover. She dictates the letter, assuming it to be for a GDR clothing store. The letter itself is hilarious (very snarky) but it's really topped by the comment of the neighbour after leaving he flat, remarking how she now just has to exchange the address for the west German mail order company. It's hilarious on its own - and then you realize how similar western and eastern German mail shopping services actually were in dealing with.
* Alex and Denis prepare a news segment following Christiane's walk outside. Denis says "Berlin" and a photo that has been stuck to the backdrop falls off.
** He's also revealed to not be wearing pants, and has a series of clothespins on the back of his jacket to make it look like it's been tailored to fit him.
* Alex decides to film one last fake news segment, with Sigmund Jähn being the new leader of East Germany. They shoot it in the middle of a library, and everyone there turns to find out what he is talking about when he starts addressing "citizens of the German Democratic Republic."
* The RunningGag of the neighbor Ganske seeing Alex is going through the dumpsters looking for old labels, or searching through the discarded furniture for their hidden cache of money, and saying "So they've driven us to this!", thinking that Alex is reduced to dumpster-diving.
* After finding their life savings of 30,000 ''Ostmark'', Alex learns they've passed the deadline date and they won't be exchanged for the ''Deutsche Mark''. So, he decides to throw it all away. He does this by throwing the banknotes ''against'' the wind, causing them to blow back into his face, much to Lara's amusement.
** Lara then tells him that he should scream. He begins shrieking like a monkey, and as he unleashes a primal scream, fireworks begin going off to celebrate Germany's victory at the 1990 FIFA World Cup Final.
** Ariane's *Wessi* boyfriend saves the day by buying a practically-new Trabant in what would've been a desirable spec (light blue, wagon) because they were suddenly dirt cheap. Mom is astonished the waiting time was so short - just 3 years since she placed the order!
* Alex's sister tells him that there's a nice-looking girl who wants to see him, [[ExactWords then hands him his baby niece, reminding him that he needs to babysit her.]]
* The montage of what happens after the Berlin Wall comes down has some funny moments as Alex's description of what his mother is missing is juxtaposed with what is actually happening.
** He talks about his first cultural experience in West Germany, aka blundering into a porno store.
** He describes how his sister's new boyfriend is interested in oriental culture. Translation: he has Ariane dress up like a belly dancer for their sexual roleplaying.
* Alex's second visit across the border shows a group of women posing for a picture with a [[TheComicallySerious stone-faced]] border guard, and one of the women takes off his hat to wear herself.
* Alex tells his amnesiac mother that her heart attack happened while she was standing in line at a store on a hot day rather than reveal it was because she saw him being arrested.
--> '''Mrs. Kerner:''' In October?
--> '''Alex:''' [[BadLiar It was an unusually hot October.]]
