1	* The Nac Mac Feegles pretending to be a human so that they can catch the coach. They steal clothes, boots, and beards from all over the Chalk to make a "tattie-bogle" (a scarecrow) and then have to work together to make the scarecrow walk, talk, and attempt to fool all the actual humans:
2	-->'''Rob Anybody:''' “Okay, let’s gae! We havena got all day. And youse knees, you’re sacked! Crivens, I’m walkin’ like I got a big touch of the stoppies! You gae up to the stomach and send doon a couple of good knee men!”
3	* After the Feegles in scarecrow-disguise catch a coach and settle in for the ride, Feegles in various "body" parts decide to detach and stretch their own legs, as the actual human passengers watch in fascinated horror. Then Daft Wullie -- in the scarecrow's pelvis -- pops the trousers' buttons, pokes his blue-skinned, red-haired head out through the fly, and sees the passengers staring. He babbles at them about "opper-tickle aloosyns", then pops back into the crotch:

9	* When Miss Level learns of the Feegles' plan to get inside Tiffany's head to fight the Hiver, she insists on them taking a bath first. As she listens at the door to make sure they're obeying, she gets a lesson in the Feegle view of the world:
10	--> “Hey, there’s a big yellow duck here. Who’re ye pointin’ that beak at, yer scunner—”
11	--> There was a wet quack and some bubbling noises as the rubber duck sank.
12	* When Miss Level confronts Tiffany (who's been possessed by the Hiver), "Tiffany" tells her, in typical surly teenager style, she was just "out" doing "nothing" with "nobody". Miss Level dryly remarks that [[FormerTeenRebel she remembers going "out" and doing "nothing" as a girl]].
13	* Feegles on a broomstick. "And all at once, there was a sound vaguely like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!"
14	* At one point, Daft Wullie feels hurt because Rob Anybody said he didn't have the brains of a beetle. Rob cheers him up by apologizing and saying: ''"Daft Wullie, ye ''do'' hae the brains o' a beetle, an' I'll fight any scunner who says different!"'' Which, one chapter later, leads to this exchange between Granny Weatherwax and Daft Wullie:

16	'''Daft Wullie:''' Ahahaha, that's wholly correct, mistress! I fooled you there! I ha' the brains o' a beetle!
17	** This is made even funnier by the fact that Granny, usually never one to let anyone have the last word in any conversation, does not reply but just glares at him and then changes the subject. That's right -- Daft Wullie just managed the impossible feat of saying something so stupid that even ''Granny Weatherwax'' couldn't think of a biting reply.
18	* Granny Weatherwax's reaction when she realizes that she's gone on [[CharacterFilibuster a bit of a rant]] about what she thinks witchcraft ''should'' be about (as opposed to how Mrs. Earwig thinks it should be).
19	-->“Anyway, that’s what I think,” she added in the tones of someone who suspects that she might have gone just a bit further than she meant to.
20	* Miss Level, having trouble controlling her second self when it no longer has a body attached to it, complains that it's as impossible as not picturing a pink rhinoceros when someone's mentioned one. Granny Weatherwax manages to get her to buck up and start getting the hang of it by telling her with the utmost sincerity that she, Granny, is ''[[HeroicWillpower not]]'' picturing a pink rhinoceros. Then, near the end of the novel, we get this exchange:
