1* Multiple ones in the story "Wanna Bet?", from ''The Second Generation''. Krynn's gnomes are usually good for a laugh, and there's a whole shipful of them in this story. The description of the ship alone is a CMOF, actually.
2* Margaret Weis tells the story of when they first released ''Dragons of Winter Night'' at [=GenCon=]. The book was released on day one, and TSR held a Dragonlance Panel on the morning of day two. When they opened up the floor to questions, one guy who had apparently stayed up all night reading the book immediately asked ''"Why did you guys [[spoiler: kill Sturm]]?"''. The reaction of the rest of the audience was apparently priceless.
