8	Magikarp is a hard bulbous scaled carp Pokemon, often orange in color, with some variants into a yellowish color. Its fins, top and bottom are distinctly three pointed and white in color. It often has a look of stupidity, with an ever open mouth and curiously blank eyes. Two barbels hang from the sides of its mouth, helping it in its search for food. Female barbels are white, while males are tan.

10	Gyarados, the evolved form, is very distinct from its former form. It is several times larger, and takes on a serpentine appearance, with the scales it once had fusing together into armor-like segments. Its color is a bright blue with a yellow underside. Its spots along the side of its body are also yellow. They sport a tri-crest over their red eyes and the notable three spike top fins are seen running along the body, at two-for-four scale segments. Females have white barbels, as their Magikarp counterpart sports. Has a red or "shiny" variant.

12	!! Notable Biology
13	Magikarp are not known for being much, other then a prime source of food for many other Pokémon and humans, and the niche of prey they fill. Also known for being incredibly weak, so many trainers will not even attempt to raise them. [Trainer's note: There are Magikarp salesmen, so if you insist on buying one, barter the price DOWN.] Because they are quite docile, very few in the wild will actually go on to evolve into their more fearsome state. 15	Gyarados, on the other hand, is very much Magikarp's polar opposite. It is radically more powerful, has a nasty temperament, and can be hard to keep in line, even for experienced trainers. And now that it is at the top of the food chain, it is often very territorial, and will fight other Pokémon that it even ''thinks'' pose a threat. It is not unusual to find a Gyarados and a Tentacruel fighting it out in the oceans, though the Gyarados may simply be trying to eat the Tentacruel. Many people live in fear of this beast, and sightings at beaches often send swimmers back for the shore. Most ocean side cities keep a weather eye out, as many a Gyarados in a foul mood have wreaked havoc upon them.

17	!! Habitat
18	Magikarp are spawned in rivers and freshwater lakes, and often spend time going up and down them, leaping out of the water to catch any bugs flying over. Once one becomes a Gyarados, they are often out at sea, though some may stay and watch over spawns in a sufficiently sized lake.

21	Magikarp often feed on seaweed and other things at the bottom of rivers and lakes, and do leap out of the water, sometimes to take insect prey. Gyarados, on the other hand, will eat pretty much any water dwelling Pokémon they can catch and fit in their mouths.

24	Magikarp are not very dangerous, and mostly flop about. They are slightly stronger in the water; a slap will leave a smarting red mark, though it will not inflict any serious harm. Gyarados, however, are ''extremely'' dangerous, due to their temperament and incredible strength. They can crush a human very easily, and their arsenal of attacks can level cities. However, a rampaging Gyarados can be quickly calmed by a jolt of electricity.

27	Magikarp have been witnessed spawning in many lakes, but nothing has been found of Gyarados's courtship rituals.

30	Magikarp are very social, and often run in large schools, numbering from the low twenties in small lakes, to upwards of hundreds in the larger lakes. Gyarados tend to be solitary, and occasionally one may choose to watch over its spawn lake, ensuring the survival of many Magikarp.

32	!! In Human Culture
33	As one of the weakest Pokémon, Magikarp is almost universally considered to be a poor choice for battling, unless one intends to evolve it into Gyarados. It is, however, quite valuable as food, and can be eaten in a variety of ways. As well as being a common food source for humans, Magikarp are also an ingredient in many commercial brands of Pokémon food. More recently, a sport known as [[VideoGame/PokemonMagikarpJump Magikarp Jumping]] has seen a vogue of popularity, in which trainers compete to make their Magikarp jump as high as possible.

35	Gyarados's destructive abilities, by contrast, have made them much sought after by many Trainers. Probably the most famous Gyarados in existence, however, is the red individual owned by Lance of the Kanto Elite Four. This Gyarados's unique color is said to have been the result of it being forcibly evolved during a mysterious experiment, rumored to be connected to Team Rocket. On a less pleasant note, Gyarados have also been frequently used by leaders of criminal groups who are drawn to their powerful reputation, such as Cyrus of Team Galactic and Lysandre of Team Flare.
