* Comments: This fic is wonderful, snarkily funny and filled with wonderful details about the life of an opera singer (Tytania Strange herself is a pro). Her interpretation of how Erik would turn out under these circumstances is also spot-on.

* Pairings: Erik/Christine, past Raoul/Christine
* Comments: The best ''Phantom of the Opera'' sequel this troper has ever read. It uses CanonWelding to combine different aspects of Leroux and Kay's novels with the musical and is very well-researched, with a gripping storyline and excellent development of Erik and Christine as individuals and as a couple. A tale of intrigue, love, and redemption indeed.

* Recommended by: Tropers/AdelePotter
* Status: Ongoing
* Synopsis: When a young soprano hears a voice on the Paris opera house’s roof, strange events upset the ballerinas’ everyday life. Modern retelling of the Phantom of the Opera.
* Parings: Too early to tell, but Raoul/Christine and Erik/Christine have both been hinted at.
* Comments: This is a webcomic adaptation of the novel, and it is marvelous. Not only is the art and attention to detail fantastic, but the author has reimagined canon in unique and unusual ways. It's still definitely the same story, but with enough twists and turns to keep readers guessing. So far, it's a bit LighterAndSofter than canon, but the author has hinted at darker things to come.

However, all hopes are shattered after Christine's father is kidnapped by the infamous Phantom. She boldly enters the forbidden catacombs, willing to offer her life for her father's.

* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: Christine has difficulty reaching her angel, though he is just beyond the door...Confused? Well, that would make sense, as nothing is for certain in this tale.
* Comments: A genuinely scary AU where Christine is insane and residing in an asylum while remaining completely in-character. Features not only a brilliant reveal but a very effective twist ending.

* Recommended by: Tropers/TheWildWestPyro
* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: When Erik decides to keep Christine underground, things don't go as he expected.
* Comments: Musical-verse. Erik finds himself in a creative Groundhog Day loop where all his attempts to keep Christine for herself end in her death, and only breaks his cycle by following the canon conclusion. Special mention goes to Christine being unexpectedly closer to her book characterization in being constantly defiant to Erik's face, refusing to give up her love for Raoul, and searching to escape even if it means her death. The endless deaths can be read as serious horror or BlackComedy, but it doesn't diminish the excellent story.

* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: A Halloween oneshot for a-partofthenarrative's POTO 13 Nights of Halloween. Erik's obsession with Christine is all-consuming
* Comments: An absolutely brilliant horror story in which the twist ending actually works, and makes you go back to check all the other details and foreshadowing. The reveal of who the monster is in the story is so effective that previous hints and their nature can also be read as simply being in-character.

* Synopsis: It's 1870, and the Opera Populaire is gone. Those who survived that strange affair are left to struggle with its aftermath while war with Prussia approaches.(Based on the 2004 movie.)
* Pairings: Erik/Christine, Raoul/Christine
* Comments: The summary above doesn't even begin to do this story justice. Dark, psychological, moving, and realistic. While researched extensively it never lectures. Everyone is not only in-character but fleshed out in such a way that makes them feel even more human. Easily the best ''Phantom of the Opera'' sequel this troper has ever read. Hasn't updated in a few years though, so be warned.

* Recommended by: Elenor
* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: A small-town girl who hopes to one day write operas, Christine's life at the time involves daydreaming of her French teacher M. De Chagny and spending time with her best friend Meg. When she has a chance encounter in the library while looking for a opera book she doesn't know that she's caught the attention of a retired Phantom. Nor does she know that he's quite willing to kill to have her. After all, it's nothing he hasn't done before.
* Pairing: Erik/Christine
* Comments: Very good in keeping in character in a modern setting.

* Synopsis: A woman appears at the Opera determined to save the theater from the fiery fate she has seen in her dreams. But will her visions leave her at the mercy of the Opera Ghost or will she find an unexpected connection with an injured, masked man she finds deep. (Based on the 2004 movie.)
* Comments: I have to admit it's been a while since I read this fic, but I do remember it being completely and utterly amazing. The OC's perhaps even more fleshed out than the canon characters, and I found myself, a previously hard-core Erik/Christine shipper, preferring this OC ship. The character development and the journey these two characters take is amazing. This is seriously worth a read.

* Pairing: Erik/Christine
* Synopsis: Erik meets Christine under very unique circumstances. Creepy, dark, romantic vibes. An attempt at seeing how dark we can go before finding the light. [A modern, book-based AU in which Christine is a homeless drug addict who sings for spare change, and Erik is quickly obsessed.]
* Comments: This fic is ''extremely'' dark, so please be wary; drug addiction is at the core of the story, and there are also themes of rape, kidnapping, murder, and abuse. However, if that doesn't put you off, it comes highly recommended. The author's characterization of Erik is marvelously monstrous and human at the same time, and they paint a heartbreakingly sympathetic portrait of Christine. Their relationship is as unhealthy as ever, but deeply intriguing. I also really love their take on the modern Daroga and Madame Giry.

* Pairing: Erik/Meg
* Synopsis: Soulmate AU: Meg discovers that Erik is her soulmate, to her delight.
* Comments: Meg is given wonderful characterization in this fic; a fan of Gothic novels that sees their stories paralleling her own experience with the Ghost, finding Erik's face interesting rather than frightening, and an absolute ray of sunshine that brings Erik out of his lonely dark and into happiness and warmth with her. Despite the Soulmate AU, it's an extremely compelling look at their characters and a relationship they could have, and there's no overemphasis on the Soulmate marks at all.

* Pairing: Meg/Christine
* Synopsis: It’s been almost a year since young Christine Daaé lost her father, and now that it’s finally spring, Meg has a surprise for her. (oneshot)
* Comments: A beautifully sweet one-shot with the unique premise that Meg is older than Christine here, and written artfully without descending into purple prose, tied neatly with the classic romantic themes of flowers - specifically Paris daisies - and shooting stars.
