These are recommendations made by Tropers for Fan Fics about the Star Wars anthology film Rogue One, all of which have been signed. After a few samples, you will be able to judge whether you might be interested in the 'fic, based on who recommended it. No-name recommendations will become the target of a single-reactor test of the Death Star. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.
Do warn when a fanfic may head into non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12292305/1/ Number The Stars]]'' by Pisaster.

* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: Cassian was ready to die on the beach at Scarif. But what if he didn't. Jyn never expected to live this long, period. Another fix-it fairy submission - or Cassian gets a second chance at happiness.
* Pairing(s): Jyn/Cassian
* Comments: This is a must-read if you want a good Rogue One fix-fic. It has a plausible explanation for their survival, and they come away with some pretty serious injuries, which makes this more believable. The romance is a very slow burn and there is a lot of focus on building trust before any romance happens. Highly recommended.

* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: Jyn is found on Lahmu and taken prisoner by Krennic. She grows up on Eadu as a hostage to serve has motivation for her father's continued compliance. Thus far includes appearances from Cassian Andor and Bodhi Rook, as well as a few solidly written original characters.
* Pairing(s): eventual Jyn/Cassian. The author hasn't written that far.

* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: Lyra has prepared for this. They both have. But her preparations are a bit different than her husband's, and she's not about to let either her husband or her daughter go without a fight. (In which Lyra is just as terrifying as her old friend, Saw Gerrera, and fate can go to hell.)
* Pairing(s): Galen/Lyra, Cassian/Jyn, Chirrut/Baze

* Recommended by: [=rockgecko=]
* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: Somewhere in her is the sinking feeling that they weren't supposed to survive. (Jyn's not entirely sure how they lived. She just knows that they did. She's not sure how the Rebellion lost the plans, either, but she has half a plan to fix that. Maybe. Mon Mothma has other ideas.)
* Pairing(s): eventual Jyn/Cassian, Chirrut/Baze (established).
* Comments: Shu's fix-it fic is brilliant and heartfelt and epic in its scale, establishing that even if Rogue One survived things can still go horribly, painfully wrong. It illustrates the differing factions within the Rebel Alliance and emphasizes that there are still going to be consequences for doing the "wrong" thing for the right reasons.

* Synopsis: Prequel story to the movie. Baze and Chirrut have adventures on Jedha and bicker like an old married couple.
* Pairing(s): Baze/Chirrut
* Comments: A solidly written and in-character adventure-focused fic.

* Recommended by: [=VioletVisions=]
* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: Little bits of movie scenes as seen from the [=POVs=] of Baze and Chirrut, combined with long flashbacks to their youth and budding friendship / courtship in the kyber temple, to the time after the temple fell and they went seperate ways for a few years, and to the bitter-sweet reunion.
* Pairing(s): Baze/Chirrut
* Comments: The characterizations are heavily inspired by Alternate Character Interpretation and this is not the kind of happy-go-lucky romance fic you usually get for this pairing. But the emphasis in the latter half on the more unhealthy aspects of their codependence and the less than admirable coping strategies to deal with the loss and trauma of the massacre of their monastic order and Chirrut's disablilty makes the characters feel more real and complex. For the first time, I could believe how Baze could go from being a kind, honorable Guardian to being a killer for hire, for example, and without completely losing his basic human decency. And Chirrut, while still competend and dealing reasonably well with his blindness, is not depicted as some kind of magical superhero who isn't made vulnerable by his new handicap at all. The story also benefits a lot from the author's solid grounding in Chinese / Buddhist culture and willigness to put in a lot of little details, which gives the setting of Jedha a very authentic-feeling (and to a Western reader, slightly alien) atmosphere and social development over the course of the decades. There's one explicit sex scene, but while it's consensual, it's not a happy nor quite romantic incident. The fic recaps the characters' death scene twice and manages to make it even more heartbreaking due to psychological issues, so bring tissues.

''[[https://archiveofourown.org/series/673331 Who Watches Over You]]'' by afrai
* Recommended by: [=VioletVisions=]
* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: A two-part story covering a time in the ex-Guardians' past when Baze was a mercenary working for the Hutts and Chirrut was the worst sex slave in the galaxy.
* Pairing(s): Baze/Chirrut
* Comments: This one seems like crackfic at first - and there certainly is a lot of humor in it - but by the end of the second part, it totally works with canon (assuming you ship these two, obviously) and delivers some satisfying insights into their characters. Unusually, this version of their backstory has them belonging to different temples in their youth, so they didn't ever meet on Jedha before the fall of the order of the Guardians and only know each other by reputation. Despite the plot premise of sexual slavery, this fic is not really dark and Chirrut is not subjected to any physical abuse. Also, since Baze still has perfectly intact ethics at least where sexual consent is concerned, and Chirrut, while professing eagerness, turns out to be rather fussy about physical circumstances when consent isn't an issue anymore, there isn't actually much sex in this fic either. Mostly just frustrated masturbation and one very brief scene at the very end. Still NSFW, though.

* Synopsis: It takes Cassian Andor and Han Solo an embarrassingly long time to realize that they aren't each other's rivals.

* Comments: A feel-good and funny fic where the Rogue One characters meet the Original trilogy characters

* Status: Dormant; last updated February 2018
* Synopsis: In which 'boundaries' don't exist in K-2SO's programming. It is part of its programming to compile records and health data on the entire team - for their own benefit. And charting Jyn Erso's menstruation really was a safety concern for the rest of them. But when K-2SO started to recognize obvious patterns linking the JYN ERSO CYCLE with their Captain's erratic changes in behavior, K-2SO decides further research is necessary.
* Pairing(s): Cassian/Jyn, Han/Leia
* Comments: The author really captures K-2SO's snark and awkward attempts to understand humans, often at the hilarious expense of the Rogue One characters.

''[[http://archiveofourown.org/series/651500 In The Hands of Destiny series]]'' by Cognomen and MayGlenn
* Recommended by: Jackjackjacques
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Pairings'': Chirrut Imwe/Baze Malbus
* ''Synopsis'': Chirrut Imwe is a young, devout Guardian of the Whills - and also, a ridiculous human being who enjoys life immensely. Baze Malbus is a Grand Army of the Republic veteran who has no idea what to do with his life. Despite - on the surface - initially being on opposing sides, Chirrut senses a kindred spirit in Baze, and keeps dragging him into adventurous good deeds. Baze doesn't necessarily mind, but he needs to figure his own life out first. Along the way there's an Imperial occupation, [[RecycledInSpace Space Buddhism]], mercenaries, a daring escape from slavery, and falling in love.
* ''Comments'': Vastly satisfying, and deliciously epic in scope even as the stakes are, by Star Wars standards, relatively small. It isn't the fate of galaxies or planets at stake, but rather the people of one small city and the soul of one good but conflicted man. The characterization is excellent, making Chirrut neither a plaster saint or a one-note clown, but instead a complex, caring, occasionally annoying trickster figure, and Baze less a long-suffering sidekick than a complicated but basically decent man living in a terrible and confusing time.
* This is not a romance series that focuses on the couple to the exclusion of all else - it's at least as much of a story about life on the planet of Jedha as the Empire begins to encroach and the (Buddhist-inspired) Guardians of the Whills. Over the course of their adventures, Baze not only falls in love with Chirrut, but with the people of the holy city of Jedha and the sense of purpose Chirrut offers. Absolutely top-notch plotting and world-building. The series has a light touch, but doesn't flinch from the darker realities of the Empire or their eventual fates.
