16	* ''Synopsis'': Manta is sent back into the past 1000 years ago. There, he meets none other than Asakura Hao in his first life. Amidst conflicts and betrayals, Manta struggles to get back safely to his own time, but yet begins to realise his purpose in the Heian Period.
17	* ''Comments'': One of the most interesting types of stories is those that deal with unresolved tensions that canon just seems to have missed. Manta Oyamada has never been at the center of any action, and isn't usually the person who needs to be strong, even if, for his friends, he wants to be. So even if it hurts, he accepts the need for them to keep him out of things. But when one of those things--an time-traveling assassination attempt on Hao's life--goes terribly wrong and he's stranded 1000 years in the past with no way to get home except their greatest adversary, he starts questioning whether being kept out was ever really good for anyone. While not usually a character that gets a lot of attention, this deconstructive character study is fascinating and enjoyable for any and all fans of the series--not to mention quite the wild ride.
